Basic Computing with a Rock Bottom Price

This would be good as basic computer for kids doing school work - this is not going to be a "go-to" device if you are looking for power packed processing for games or other high use needs. For an overall great laptop at a great price it's AMAZING - I'm replacing a laptop after my screen broke off the base- I bought at a great price and I have been overall pleased. I did purchase a Microsoft Mouse b/c I have not been happy with ANY laptop track-pad I've ever owned. If you need a replacement for basic computing - you'll be happy with this device.

It's kind of slow, but it comes with a year of Microsoft 360 and 30 days of McAfee. I wish it was a little faster, but not bad for the price.

It managed to crash at the welcome screen trying to load Cortana. All I can say is that I'm glad I got it at the sale price and not the regular price. It runs...that's all I can say about it. You can use it for very light uses like checking email, word processing, etc. It can barely run YouTube videos at 480p. So, don't be surprised if the video is chugging along trying to catch up with the audio. Honestly, it might be a good Linux machine, but nothing too resource heavy. I'll see what my dad thinks before I decide to get him something else.

Basic Computer for Basic Needs

Don't expect it to run any game or have more than 5 tabs opened along. About the hardware: The keyboard is very nice to type on. The trackpad is very accurate. The screen serves its purpose, Overall if you need it for basic stuff it's worth the shot.

First, the computer came with a year subscription to a Word Processing program; however I had purchased my own Word Processing software. Secondly, the cost of the computer was on sale for half the original $200.00 price tag. Thirdly, the computer's functions are consistent with the cost. Fourthly, the computer's performance is very decent especially as it relates to the cost of product. Lastly, I'm perplexed BUT pleased as it relates to the low price of the computer and the decent overall performance. I made a Great decision when I purchased this product.

Gift for grandchild, first PC

His school issues every student a Chromebook, but he wanted a PC so he could play games. I chose this computer because I've had good experiences with Lenovo computers and the price was right. I've been computing since the mid-1980s, was not happy about the eMMC flash memory, but his parents can add an external drive if more space is required. So far, he's very happy with the computer, so I'm happy. I ordered online and picked up at the desk at the front of the store (pandemic). Overall, a satisfied customer and satisfied end user.

Great Light Use Laptop

Surprisingly quick, it tackles most everyday tasks with ease (ie. web browsing, word processing, streaming video) However, I noticed significant struggle during resource intensive tasks such as video conferencing. The laptop would become unresponsive, unable to handle the load. If video conferencing or web chats are what the intentions are when purchasing this laptop, I would strongly suggest a laptop with a cpu that has a higher clock speed and more RAM. Other than that, this laptop flies through everyday tasks and is quite beautiful to behold. Recommended

Posted .Once again, thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 14 Laptop. You can keep your computer running at its best by keeping the Windows 10 Operating System and all supporting BIOS files and drivers up to date. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software available on this computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If you ever need additional help with your Lenovo computer, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help.

But it’s cheap, light, portable and has windows and an card reader so met my needs. You should consider uninstalling bloatware for more space and switching out of Windows S so you can install programs and other browsers like chrome or Firefox this is why you would choose a low end windows machine over a cheap chromebook anyway so it doesn’t make sense that they’ve locked it to the Microsoft store for new windows machines. If you need more hard drive space get a generous microsd card (256gb-512gb) or low profile usb and leave it in. Not good for college but fine as a secondary/ backup or travel laptop.

With my kids spending more time at home I wanted something that my middle grade kid could use that was not too delicate and can handle some wear and tear. So far so good. We've only had it for a month and he has used it only for about 2 weeks but as far as that stands it works well, features are easy, and it replaced the Chromebook he had last year without much complaint. Lightweight, affordable, does what it needs to do product. We are pleased.

It's very fast when powering up and getting started is quite straightforward. Adding programs for word processing. spreadsheets, and data was relatively easy. One caveat: The cursor is twitchy sometimes hard to pin down. For my spouse, I added a wireless mouse to get started. Controlling the mouse-pad will come later.

With regard to the touchpad, you can make adjustments to the touchpad in your system settings. You can get there by clicking on the magnifying glass at the bottom left of your Windows 10 screen. Type "touchpad" in the search window. Select "Mouse & touchpad settings" from the list of choices. You can make general adjustments to the touchpad there. You can also select "Additional mouse options" for more detailed adjustments to the touchpad sensitivity by increasing the delay of the touchpad.
Basic system for a Google Classroom Student

The system was purchased as a backup because the Chromebooks were going like hotcakes at the beginning of the COVID pandemic. It's intended for online schoolwork only in this house. The biggest push will be a YouTube video or two. Nothing is saved locally nor any serious gaming happening here. We won't be pushing its limits anytime soon. It gets points for being a trusty machine during the quarantine but he'll need something more robust at some point.

I use Acrobat and Microsoft Office. However their workaround is to use Microsoft OneDrive. I also just use a USB thumb drive,so.... It is also slim,and easy to transport I don't like that it doesn't have a security cable slot, but I bought an alternative from Amazon. It would also be nice to have at least one more USB slot, but having the HDMI slot is a plus The battery life is pretty good I have gotten just over 8 hours with moderate use.
