This is my fifth LG flat panel TV and since all the others have had excellent picture quality I decided to stick to the brand. As I wanted to move up a panel size to 75” in a new TV I thought it might also be worth upgrading from the baseline UHD technology to at least the low end of the mid-range QNED quantum dot technology. If you are a casual TV watcher mostly watching full screen content this TV is wonderful and is a really good deal at the Best Buy holiday pricing which put it only few dollars above the UHD technology LG UA77model. It has excellent brightness (I only run the backlight at 75% in a well lit room with a window nearby) and great color saturation that really makes colors vibrant compared to UHD technology making it a worthwhile upgrade without breaking the bank that going to OLED technology requires. It doesn’t have the deeper blacks you get the higher cost QNED models offering local dimming. But I like that it offers full direct backlighting instead of being edge lit, which what you get the next level up in the QNED product line. Black depth is similar to what UHD offers. Full 1080 HD and 4K HDR content have impressive detail even on this large of a screen with wider pixel spacing. Up-converted 720 live TV streaming and standard definition 480 DVD content are a little soft as would be expected, but still in the acceptable range for comfortable viewing if you set the super resolution, noise reduction, and smooth gradation setting in the clarity category to medium or high. If you watch streams that are less than 30 frames per second to reduce bandwidth use and motion seems jerky be sure to set TruMotion in clarity to natural or smooth motion. Helpful hint if you want to calibrate the picture on your own instead of relying on the AI, do it watching old school cartoons that have wide swatch of primary colors on screen for long periods time so you have time to see the effects of adjustments. The downside of this TV shows up if you are a fan of watching movies that are shown in letterbox format instead of full screen. The first TV I got had so much excessive backlight bleed around the edges that I had to return it in exchange for another. Even the second TV wasn’t free of this distracting fault. Overall I’d give this 70A model only a B grade because the backlight bleed on two different TVs which is a quality characteristic that really makes me question being a fan of LG TVs. When viewing full screen content it’s a solid A grade for the picture rendition. The other consideration for sticking with LG is because their primary name brand competitor no long includes the optical audio port on their lower end models that I need for my existing sound bar that doesn’t support ARC.

This is a fantastic tv, great picture, great sound, easy to use, HUGE. It’s exactly as advertised, maybe a bit more!
