Customers recognize the UltraGear 27" IPS LED QHD monitor's exceptional picture quality, high refresh rate, and vibrant colors as significant strengths. Many appreciate its value for the price and the effective performance of its G-Sync and FreeSync compatibility. However, some users point to the HDR's dimness and the monitor stand's design as potential drawbacks. A few also mentioned issues with IPS glow, though this is often considered inherent to IPS panel technology.

I purchased it with the 27" IPS, 144hz, 1ms response time, and 1440p in mind. This is my first gaming monitor coming from gaming on tv's, and a 1080p 60fps led computer monitor.
I've been reading other reviews of people having complaints, and maybe they just got unlucky. However, I haven't noticed any problems with it yet after a couple of days of using it for working and playing games. Recently I've been upgrading my gaming equipment. I just recently purchased a 2070 super with a ryzen something to go with it (clearly I'm not a tech guru). Though this monitor goes great with it, and was an instant upgrade from my old equipment.
It does add a little extra strain on my gpu temps, but that's probably the computers issue with the extra fps, not the monitors. I like the user friendly button design, and having the display ports was a must so I could use my one hdmi slot in my pc for my tv incase I want to do that.
Besides that no complaints. It's heavy in my opinion, but that's no big deal once it's set up. I'm loving playing on it, and I feel 1440p is where gaming is at it's best for this moment in time.
If you're going to be using this for gaming and you play games a lot this is the monitor to buy to get the best experience possible during 2020. Maybe in 2030 this will be out of date and terrible, but right now it's the greatest thing I can think of to play on! :D Best!

27 inches is just the perfect size for me. no too big or too small and the refresh rate allows me to play the newest games butter smooth when paired with my RTX 2070 super. colors and viewing angles are great compared to TN or VA panels. a little pricey at 450 dollars but I wanted to play at 1440p and im not into competitive gaming at super high frames.

Monitor is great for high refresh rate gaming! You have a RTX 30 series card? This is a great option. The HDR isn't that good but if you are looking for a monitor to give you smooth high fps gaming this is it. There are reviews for dead pixels so just be aware. I got this on sale as well, if you can snag on sale it would be best.

Awesome monitor. I get the full refresh rate as advertised. and colors look natural and not overdone. Don't panic if you get yours out of the box and there is distortion and bleed on the backlight. Mine had it and it went away within a few hours of use. I think this must have been a "break-in" period.

Read or watch any review of the LG 27GL850 and you'll find that this is the best IPS, 1440p, 27" gaming monitor around. This is the same monitor without the USB hub. If you want a GL850 but can't find one, or just want to save 50 bucks, this is the next best thing.

This monitor is by far the best I've had. I've purchased Asus and many other brands before. The only other brand I can compare this to as far as picture goes is BenQ. You will not be disappointed. Make sure to connect your video card to the display port to get 144hz refresh rate. You only get up to 100 on HDMI.

I have previously used a DELL 24" TN PANEL GSYNC model, and this LG monitor was a huge upgrade due to its IPS panel and its size. It's hands down my favorite gaming monitor at the moment. I wouldn't go back to a TN panel monitor anymore. The color is beautiful, 1.4 DP works well, and high refresh rate is flawless.

This IPS panel is amazing.
It looks superb, I run all my games at 1440p and they look great.
I think the high refresh rate, low latency, and amazing colors thanks to the IPS panel make this an amazing deal.
I'm also a sucker for black and red. The accents are nice, though probably give a "gamer" vibe.

Great monitor for the price. Colors are vibrant and the screen has a nice refresh rate. I really haven't noticed any tearing while playing games. Overall this is a great monitor for the price and a good place holder while we wait for HDMI 2.1 to come out for 120hz console gaming.

Going from 1080p60hz to 1440p144hz is an absolute blast! This is reasonably priced along with the benefits of an IPS panel and have never had any problems with an LG product. This monitor does have HDR, but I highly don't recommend it if you're in the market for a good HDR monitor.

I was using a Korean monitor before these high refresh IPS panels came around. It was a QNIX QX2710 27" PLS 1440p that could achieve a stable 105 Hz without any issues.
I replaced that with a used Dell S2417DG 24" TN 1440p 165 Hz. At the time, I had no way of affording anything better. Now that I can, I bought this LG and sold the Dell.
The LG is just like the original release that LG falsely advertised but with minor changes like a different stand and no USB pass-through. I actually do need the USB ports because I aim left handed and the cord cannot reach to the PC but I'm resolving this with a USB hub and extension USB cable.
The false advertising is due to their overhyping of the combination of IPS, 1440p, 1 ms GtG and 144 Hz. The reality is you will never achieve a 1 ms GtG unless you use the Fastest overdrive setting -- which nobody with a brain would use because it introduces massive inverse ghosting which defeats the purpose of a fast monitor. The only setting anyone should be using in the OSD for "Response Time" is "Fast" on this monitor.
You will be getting response times in line with competitors. However, this monitor has been tested and shown to have really low input latency.
I thought I wouldn't like the saturation of colors but I ended up actually really liking it. I always play Apex with my friends and remind them how much I love how things look on this monitor.
I'll be buying another one tomorrow to replace my ASUS PB238Q 23" IPS 60 Hz. Oh and by the way, the DP cable is criminally short. They should be locked up for such an atrocious crime against the consumer. I'd suggest if you need more than a few feet of reach from the DP cable to go buy one. Add that in to the actual cost of this monitor.
As far as speed it's excellent. I couldn't ask for more. I have a long history of high accuracy aim and being very good at games (particularly shooters). I grew up in the days when shooters took actual skill (I'm 30) and weren't a watered down, unfair mess like Overwatch. And no, I don't mean CS. CS is a joke with instant TTK meaning whoever snaps first wins (or whoever shoots you in the back of the head and you have no chance to fight it out with them). And for the record, yes, I do own people in CS and Overwatch -- I just don't like the way they're configured. Overwatch is setup to disadvantage better players by screwing them over with counter classes and CS has an instant TTK and stupid "spray patterns" and nonsensical recoil.
I'm talking about GOOD shooters with movement mechanics and intense fights. Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory (quake3/idTech3 engine) being the rest one, of course :).
The colors are beautiful. I have no interest in a 240 Hz because I don't want to run 1080p. I really like 1440p, especially for non-gaming content such as work and anything else I do on my computer.
My unit came with no pixel defects and if it did I would have immediately returned it to Best Buy for another one. Pixel defects are simply unacceptable, especially when spending this much on a display. It's not advertised in the images or text that there may be defective pixels so I expect no defective pixels. That would mean I simply expect what was advertised.
For the first time in a long time, as I now have the money to do so, I'll have matching monitors and they'll both be 144 Hz 1440p IPS 27". Very good day for me :).
No comments on stand as I'm just mounting the monitors.
Keep in mind you'll need a decent GPU to get high frames and enjoy such a monitor and you'll need to have a GPU which supports the right version of DP. Be careful and do research before proceeding!

Read Review For Help Achieving 1440p & 120 FPS

Purchased to pair with the new Xbox Series X. I am currently running at 1440p and getting 120 FPS. At the 27 inch screen size, only someone who is graphically particular will be able to detect a difference. However, it is a bit tricky to achieve the 1440p and 120 FPS. You have to first turn off G-Sync on the monitor, then go into your Series X display settings and uncheck the “Allow 4K/HDR” options. Otherwise it will only let you run 120 FPS at 1080p. Which you don’t want. This monitor is an excellent middle ground for those who don’t want to spend an arm and a leg achieving 4K. Plus the HDMI 2.1 monitors won’t be out until 2021.

145Hz Refresh rate with a beautiful color ratio to match, the colors are uniform across, only small gripe is the screen glow in the corner of the eyes in very dark scenes but those can be looked over. Would highly suggest and want a second one for my workstation.

The colors are vibrant and vivid. I recommend leaving contrast to 70 and response time to "fast", else you'll get heavy pixel overshoot that looks awful with the "faster" setting. The IPS glow is kinda bad on the panel I got but not enough to notice while gaming.

Haven't had this monitor for too terribly long, but can definitely say I am a fan! Got this monitor for my first pc build ever (coming from xbox one), and wanted something powerful. The resolution and refresh rate are great for gaming (have mainly played destiny 2 on it), and the fact that it is an IPS monitor is a plus. Have had no issues with g-sync as I know other monitors can have at times. The only thing I wish Best Buy would do differently is ship it in some more discreet packaging (especially with it being a more high priced item). Luckily, I wasn't far from home when it arrived...but it was just shipped in the standard in store box.

I've Unleashed and been using this ultra beast now for over one year now and I've been pushing it to it's full potential extensively using my RTX 3080 Ti GPU & Gaming Consoles.
Forget the "Pro's & Con's" Here is the Truth: I purchased the "LG UltraGear 27GN850-B model" which is pretty much the same monitor as the 27GL850-B but without the (USB-ports). Let me tell you... This Monitor Dropkicks" the QHD 2K 1440p -144hrz & HD 1080p 100hrz gaming competition out of our solar system with it's raw IPS performance!!
It is a phenomenal gaming monitor and I have experienced three other gaming monitors so far, Now 4!
It delivers vibrant, accurate, and consistent colors with the fastest response time speed equal if not better than any other IPS monitor in the market from 2020 into 2021! I've been giddy like a kid again enjoying the extremely low input lag, and tear-free G-sync action!. There's plenty of additional useful features that I am loving like the "Cross-Hair" input option that actually helps in fast paced FPS games. I thought it was just a gimmick but I was schooled by it's attribute. Other features like "Black Stabilizer" which lets you tune/tweak the blacks/shadows within games and media to your satisfaction! Also, there is a "Game Mode" a preset configuration of different calibrated styles like "Gamer Mode 1 & 2 which are for a variety of different games that gives you the ability to tweak & configure them both to enjoy your favorite games! There is also an "FPS Mode - RTS Mode" For when you need to quickly switch to the easiest optimized gaming mode as you jump in and out of multiplayer games. Other modes like HDR Effect - Reader Mode & sRGB Mode gives the user the edge for entertainment & work related uses.
But the best of them all... "My Favorite" = "Vibrant Mode" this mode (in my opinion) is excellent for Movie watching and especially for single player open world Games like The Witcher 3 & Red Dead Redemption 2, and also The Last of Us 2 which I'm currently playing on my PS5 and it's Gorgeous running at 2160p/60FPS due to the wonderful radiant colors and finely tuned gamma/contrast ratio!. I could ramble on about how good this monitor is but I'm sure you get the point.
Now for the other Truth: My only warning to anyone who loves to use monitors in the darkest of rooms will of course notice there is some IPS glow from the edges of the screen and some minor backlight bleeding. So to those who might be wondering what does that mean? It means the deep blacks within videos/movies that appear on screen look more like very dark grey and at bad angels there is shiny reflections/glowing from the corners of the screen but for games you can work around that with built in features/options as I described above. Also easy fix is to just turn on a lamp or burn some candles which will brighten up the room a little thus negating some of the IPS glow. But with that said this small downside does not have a negative impact on me with my every day enjoyment/experience with it, but it might for someone who like I said, "Really Loves" to watch scary horror flicks or prefers to work/edit in the dark. Overall: This LG UltraGear QHD LED IPS Monitor is a premium (Savage!) For the $400+ price-tag this is one of the top 5 best of the best gaming monitors you can buy hands down!!. For someone who is looking to upgrade or is a new adventurer in this landscape.

This is a beautiful monitor. It has great color and a good monitor if you are working and gaming. I ultimately went with another monitor, but the monitor I chose to go with is an IPS display, same as the LG, and had a higher refresh rate for the same price.
