It actually works! There is lots of room for improvement though, as even with the computer 1 foot away it had problems streaming.

Don't expect smooth video playback and 4K output

Miracast only compatible with some devices. After using this with Windows 10 and an android tablet i can honestly say that this is a nice convenient way of displaying your device onto a tv or projector. I would only use it to display documents or power point presentations though. For video playback it was a little to laggy so don't even think about using this for gaming.
