      Hi Norseman,

That's rare. May I know how is it defective? If it happens that your phone has a hardware issue and it is still under return timeframe from where it was purchased, you may still return it to have it replaced or for a refund. I got this phone to replace my Blackberry Passport, I was very enthusiastic going back to a full screen phone. This phone ceased turning on in less than 6 months. I plugged the phone in to charge and it ceased working. The phone looks in pristine condition, but it still crapped out.

I was apprehensive to give a low priced phone a shot. I've used iPhones for my last two phones and prior to that I used Androids that always disappointed me. First impression of the Moto G5s Plus is almost entirely positive. First thing you notice on almost any phone is the screen. At 5.5" this is considerably larger than my iPhone 6, however the more I use it the more I realize the benefits of the big screen. Colors, brightness, and clarity are all solid, especially given the price point. As for overall look and feel of the phone, it's good looking if not a little boring. It reminds me of a love child of the iPhone 6,7,8 family and HTC One M7 with a Moto camera bump. The phone feels way more premium than the process suggests. My only gripe, which I'll get used to is the location of the power button and volume rockers on the same side means I keep accidentally hitting the power button while typing. Performance is good on the phone. I haven't run into any major hiccups. Common apps such as messages, chrome, phone etc load immediately and screen transitions are very smooth. My favorite part of the phone is the fact that it ships with what is best described as the Pixel launcher. I love pure Android and this phone doesn't disappoint. Outside of a few Moto tricks that are mostly useful, it's Android. Camera so far seems ok, but you can definitely tell this is where Moto saved some money. So far the dual camera on this phone seems like more of a gimmick than a true feature like some of the top end phones. I would have preferred a single lens shooter with better quality. All in all it's a great phone for the intro price of $229, but don't expect iPhone 7 or 8, Samsung 8 family, or LG G6 quality. This is a mid level device with an entry level price.

Motorola/Lenovo has won the jackpot with this phone. It is unbelievable fast and snappy and does not come with a bunch of bloatware. The speaker is very loud and clear. I was contemplating for days if I should give up my Le pro 3 for this phone and I am glad I did. The best thing with this phone, I can use it will all the carriers in the US. This is a keeper for a long time.

The Moto G5s Plus is not a great phone. More complicated to use than other Android phones. No one carry’s cases for these phones, not even Best Buy where the phone was purchased. You can only find accessories specifically for this phone online. Even Motorola doesn’t have any cases. The quality of the device is ok.

Best Phone for Sprint Free 1 Year Service

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This Phone just came out and if you are looking to get in on the Sprint BYOD special it works like a charm. The screen is very good and while not up to par with the $1000 phones cameras it takes very good pictures. The 635 Snapdragon processer is more than powerful enough for a good experience. I merged a 128 GB Samsung Micro SD card for a reported 160 GB of storage. I did not think it was worth 70 dollars for the extra 32 GB and 1 GB Ram and I don't miss it so far. I am coming from a 32 GB Galaxy Note 5 and think with some of the added features I am just as happy. The best feature is when my free service ends I can slap in a sim card from whatever the best deal of the big four is and go no need to change phones again until I want to. The Camera does protrude but if you use a bumper case it will not show, I also recommend a tempered glass screen protector to keep the phone in new condition. Pros: Nice Full HD Big Screen, 2.0 GHZ Octa-core Processer, 3 GB Ram, Can work on Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile and ATT, Battery Charges to full in less than an hour. Selfie Camera Flash, Cool motion activated features. Cons: No Optical Image Stabilization for the camera, No NFC, Camera Protrudes and the phone is thicker than most.

Decent value but lacking prior Moto features

This phone replaces a Moto X second generation purchased in 2015, which was dropped and broken beyond repair. The reason i bought the Moto X was it's extremely useful voice command/recognition features which enabled hands-free operation, especially while driving. These features differentiated the Moto X from any competition at the time, in my view. The Moto G5s Plus, although a decent phone, does very little to differentiate itself from competition. It is missing the voice command/recognition software which made the Moto X a clear choice. I don't think those features are available on any Motorola phone any more, after looking through the forums. Specifically, the features missing are: 1. While driving, voice alerts of incoming phone calls, identifying the caller and asking if I wanted to answer or ignore the call. An 'answer' response would initiate an 'OK, I'm answering', response from the phone, then the call would be answered and the speaker automatically turned on. An 'ignore' response would initiate a 'Hanging up', response from the phone and the call would be disconnected. 2. Voice alerts of incoming texts, identifying the sender and asking if I wanted to listen or ignore. This feature worked a lot like the incoming calls feature described above. 3. While sleeping with the display off, the phone would periodically display a small sized notification of waiting emails or texts or missed calls. The phone also had an infra red sensor which would pick up a hand wave over the phone and also display the notifications. No other phone at the time had anything like it. The voice and text alerts described above appeared to be linked to GPS, so the phone would activate that feature when it sensed motion at driving speeds (I think). It appeared to work with or without 12V power attached. There was no need for Bluetooth. Other Moto features like the shake-to-initiate camera are present in the G5s plus. I think Motorola made a mistake by dropping these features. I think the software is called Moto Voice. It should be in every Motorola phone. I use the phone mostly for business, not as a plaything, and the hands-free functionality of the Moto X is really missed. The G5s Plus is disappoiinting. Success in the phone business depends on product differentiation and I think Motorola/Lenovo should re-introduce their previously excellent voice command/recognition features. Google Assistant does not compare. The Moto X second generation features were superior. Three stars, mostly for battery life and build quality. Come on Motorola - you used to be great and you can again.

This was a terrible purchase. It does not stay connected to Wi-Fi in multiple locations, and had to be reset completely in order to have connecting abilities again. It has eight gigs of hard drive which is an enough to put more than two or three apps on, and the expandable memory slot doesn’t do anything to help that. Overall it’s a very crappy phone and he be better off buying unlock used iPhone or Samsung galaxy for the same price than buying this one brand new

Bought this phone as a gift. Upon 5 days of usage sim card wasn't recognized anymore. Tried with two additional SIM cards, same problem. Phone company says it's hardware issue. Can't believe after 5 days a brand new phone stops working like that. Won't buy again for sure. Hoping Best buy changes this faulty product ASAP

I purchased this phone after having a Samsung s6 for the last 2.5 years. This phone has impressed me very much over the last few days from build quality, screen quality, battery life and performance. The camera is the only knock against it but I have to believe Moto will push out a software update that will improve the dual lens camera. For $230 unlocked, wow, can't believe I've been letting Verizon take my money each month totaling hundreds. If Motorola keeps it up I may never go back to flagship phones.

My wife's cell phone died. I bought the Moto G5S Plus and gave her my LG. I didn't want to spend $700 to $1000 for a new phone. The G5S rocks! Batttery life is incredible. This $240 phone does everything I need and more. The phone never gets hot like the LG did. I've used it for 2 hours and more and it barely gets warm. You can't go wrong with the unlocked Moto G5S! I've always had great luck with Motorola phones, Lenova has really kept the quality of the Moto brand up!

You have to be crazy not to buy this phone - it does everything you want even better than the iphone. It's organized and laid out perfectly on the displays and menus. Apps, games, video run at full speed. Camera is excellent. And the low cost is unreal - way under $300. Don't get suckered by an $800 - $1,000 phone. This is what you need.
