This was a hard decision for me, not for my wallet

I was stressing about whether to get this or the Samsung galaxy s8 and yes there is obviously a huge price gap. I got my wife the g5 plus because she desperately needed a phone and I have been using it to see how it works and let me tell you, the performance on this phone is just as good or even better than the Samsung lineup. In order for those high end phones to run smoothly, they need the latest processor and all the high end stuff inside to function properly. this phone has a 625 snapdragon chip compared to the 835 chip I believe in the s8. This phone runs stock android with a few tweeks from Motorola that I do love like the twist motion to open the camera and the chop motion to turn on the flash. The only obvious con is the camera which is not a big deal for me but for photography enthusiasts you have no choice but the s8. But for everyday use and functionality you can't go wrong with this device at all. Also, 5 years ago we could have never imagined a phone "UNLOCKED" under 300 dollars may I add with such beautiful build quality would exist. In the words of my favorite tech youtuber Marquess Brownlee," Cheap phones are becoming good and good phones are becoming cheap" Don't spend so much money on a PHONE when it cost the same amount as a used car.

This phone definitely met all my expectations and beyond. I purchased this device a week and half ago to replace my Samsung Galaxy S7 and it has absolutely been a great experience. Is not water proof, but I don't go in the water with it. IT HAS AN AWESOME BATTERY LIFE, Superb camera front & back, very fast processor and I love that is very Google applicable. I've been a Samsung user, and I don't regret living them, their phones are way over price. This mid range phone delivers an excellent performance as good as any flagship Samsung phone. Great buy.

This phone does not feel or perform like something I got for less than 200 bucks. Even at it's regular price, it is a steal. Is it an iPhone X or Samsung Note 8? Nope, but you save 800 bucks! The Snapdragon processor is more than fast enough, the screen is bright and clear, and the near stock Android is great. It doesn't have Oreo yet, but it is supposed to get an update "soon". I threw in a 128gb microsd card and now it has more than enough space. I had a 2nd generation Moto G and really loved it until I switched to Project Fi for 2 years. I realized my Nexus 5x was a ticking time bomb and went back to Moto. I could have stayed with Project Fi with a new Moto X4 but that is twice the price. Anyway, if you are looking for a great "budget" phone that is unlocked for all carriers, this is the one to get.

Great Phone, but it won't beat a tractor!

So I've had this phone for a few months now and have 0 complaints. As a matter of fact, I went back and bought one for my youngest Son shortly after I purchased mine. We both love them, they're snappy and have good battery life. I'm going to have to replace mine as it was ripped off my holster while grading with my tractor and the back glass was damaged. Not the fault of the phone, but something to be aware of if you keep yours in a holster as it's a large exposed target that I wish was gorilla glass. I guess it says something about my opinion on the quality of the phone. I'm going back to buy another one. and an enclosed holster.

This phone is one of the best I've owned I've had a iPhone 6s Plus but this phone is better in many ways like the fingerprint scanner works so much better also you can use that same button to go back a page and see open apps it's very fast doesn't stall at all the only thing I would like to see better is the color even one vivid color it's not much of a difference all in all this is the best mid grade phone out there and it gives the high end phones a run for the money

I usually don't rate things, but I just had to write one on this phone. I have had Samsung Galaxy Notes, and also the majority of the S Series phones. This Moto is great! Better than any Samsung I have owned. The fingerprint reader works flawlessly, unlike the Samsung's I have owned. No problems with freezing up, very quick, and less than half the price! Would definitely recommend this phone!

I have owned this phone and used it for business for almost 2 years now. It has been a fantastic phone for the price! It doesn't have bloatware, it handles pretty much everything necessary for a business smart phone, and it has a large beautiful display! MOTO did a few updates to the phone that were rather disappointing, more of a regression, but we were able to continue using it with some adjustments. Biggest downside is the camera - not much good in low light or mixed light. I just bought a Samsung S7 and I actually like the Moto G5s Plus better in terms of speed, screen size, processing, and battery life. I thought I'd be upgrading, but it's more of a lateral move. It is true that a notification icon is missing for new messages/calls. I handled this by installing Nova Launcher, pretty easy app to use.

I was a happy owner of the $200 Moto G3 for two years. I bragged about it's awesomeness to anyone who would listen - so much value for the amount it cost. This month I was ready for an upgrade so I bought the $250 G5S plus and am over the moon. The camera is amazing and so fun to play with (huge props for that!!), the quick charge battery is so handy, the display is beautiful, and the processing speed is great for my every day life. I was a little apprehensive about the one touch navigation but have gotten used to it and now I love it. What a fantastic phone :))

I was ready for a new phone and tried 2 other brands that I had to return within a day for malfunctions. I was feeling like I was wasting my time. This was not a 3rd choice, I was interested in it from the first but it wasn't as flashy as the others. WHAT A GREAT FIND! Fast, easy to learn, clean design. No hiccups, no returning this one! It is not a basic phone, it is full of useful features. Camera is excellent, battery life is more than adequate for all day at work. I am pleased that I found a phone I feel has plenty of everything. Hooks up to the Bluetooth and wifi with no help everytime!

I purchased this phone today, set it up with my carrier. The wifi would not connect to 3 different wi fi . I then went on line with another devise and looked up Motorola g5s wifi conection problems. It seems that this is a common problem. I called Motorola tech support and they made 3 attempts to resolve the problem including factory reset. NONE OF THIS WORKED. They have offered to replace the phone in 4 to 8 business days. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH A BRAND NEW PHONE. I WILL GO BACK TO SAMSUNG PHONES. Check out Motorola and levono forums for tech support. and tell me this is not a common problem.

      Hi JJRR,

I know how frustrating that it happened to a brand new phone. The only thing we can do if even resetting the device didn't work is to return it back to where it was purchased if it still under return timeframe and have it replaced there. If it is now beyond their return timeframe, we can still have it repaired. If you have decided to have it repaired, feel free to visit this link where you can submit a repair: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/mcp/service/

    Very Satisfied

I purchased this phone as an upgrade to the Moto G4 Play. At the time of this review, I've been using the phone for a little more than a month now and I am very satisfied with it. The battery is sufficient, the phone looks great, and I love the screen. At it's lowest setting the display on the G5S Plus is much brighter than my previous phone's. I like that it has the blue-light filter because it is much easier on my eyes. The phone audio is incredibly clear. I was taken by surprise at how clearly I could hear everything on the other end, but there's no static. I'm not overwhelmed by the camera, but it takes good enough photos. I like that the Moto phones have the gesture feature. Being able to turn on the camera or flashlight with just a flick of the wrist is very convenient. I have the 32GB version, which is plenty of storage for me, especially since I have an additional memory card installed. I haven't had any issues with the Bluetooth or GPS yet. I guess my only complaint would be that the MicroSD slot and SIM slot are in the same place. I also couldn't fit the SIM from my old phone into this one, so I had to go to my carrier to get a new one. Also, I'm not that impressed by the TurboPower charger that comes with it. My phone doesn't seem to charge any faster than it does with any other good quality charger. Overall, I am very pleased with this phone and plan on keeping it for a long time.

    Virgin Mobile New Replacement Phone

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The Moto G5s-Plus is available "unlocked" for every major carrier in the US. I purchased mine at BestBuy during the 2017 Christmas season while it was on sale for $229 for the 32 gb version. Being a Virgin Mobile customer for many years I wanted to have the latest Android phone. My previous phone was the Moto G 3rd.gen. It was a decent phone but its lack of memory and inability to upgrade to the latest version of Android had me constantly deleting cache and apps to avoid slowing down. I was told by Virgin Mobile and Motorola in September 2017 that this "unlocked" G5s-Plus model # XT1806 could be activated replacing my existing Moto G 3rd.gen. After purchasing in December, I sent an email to Virgin Mobile to get specific activation instructions. I was told that doing so was not possible and had been given wrong advice by their customer representatives. Calling Virgin Mobile I was given the same answer. Not giving up I called a Sprint Corporate store. This was not a local retailer like in the Mall. You have to go to a corporate location. On the phone I was told that possibly they could help. When I went to the Sprint Corporate store, after just a few minutes, they were able to activate my new phone with a new sim card that they have. My troubles were now over and I had a great new up to date Android phone on the Virgin Mobile network. So far so good. This is a big step up from my previous phone.
