So, I was really hoping this was the dash cam for me. Have been researching them for years and now after buying a new car, was really excited about all the features this has: a magnetic quick mount so you don’t have to leave it in the car, great 4K image quality day and night, a parking mode that doesn’t have to be hard wired, a built in screen for immediate playback, WiFi & gps.. the list goes on. Unfortunately, just wasn’t polished enough for me. I could never seem to turn it off (so even when I brought it inside to plug into my computer, even after using the power button, it’d continue to record as though it was in parking mode). The camera also took much more space on the windshield than I wanted - partly because the lens sticks out so much. A trade off that’s probably a result of the great image quality, but makes for a very conspicuous display from inside the car and out. And then just navigating the videos - was easier to do on the computer than the phone app, but really painful from the camera itself. No actual file list available on the camera, just clicking next or previous video. Also there was no specific parking mode folder - just all videos and protected videos; so if you clicked save during a drive it’s stuck in the same folder as all the parking and driving motion set off videos (which with sensitivity turned down still seemed to save even the slightest bumps in the road). Ultimately I would’ve probably given the camera longer to grow on me but it froze on me the first full day I used it. Got in the car after work (not a hot day ~ 70s or 80s max) and the camera wouldn’t turn on or off - just a white light under the nextbase button on the back for the drive home. Eventually it reset but was enough to convince me to try something else.

This replaced a Viofo A129 Plus. That was a 2K camera. I didn't go with the 4K then because I was worried about Texas heat and how hot 4k cameras can get. I'll have to see how this holds up come summer. The picture is very good on this. Definitely a step up from the Viofo. Both daytime and night quality is better. The touch screen control is easier to use than the Viofo's buttons too. I used the same hardwired kit I was using for the Viofo, but there is a problem there as it has a low voltage cut off. So when my vehicle stops the engine at a light and then starts it back up there is a voltage drop that makes the hardwired kit shut off power for just really short period. This makes the Nextbase wake up the screen because it switches back to battery like it was powered off. This is strictly an issue from the hardwired kit. I need to find out if the Nextbase kit has a low voltage cut off as well, or some other one out there. And it's only a real issue if you use the screensaver in either off or speed display. If you don't have the screensaver off all you see is the little power icon go from plugged in to battery and back. I docked a star because it no longer comes with a suction cup mount nor the plastic dust cover for the front of the camera. There is now only a cardboard throw away piece there for shipping. I wish I had received both of these, as I prefer not to use a 3M adhesive pad on my windshield. I ordered some static cling clear windshield stickers that you put on the windshield first, then stick the camera mount to the sticker. So far it's holding up fine, and keeps me from having adhesive on the windshield. I also don't like to leave the camera on the windshield when I park in certain places, so the dust cover would have been nice. It does have an extra 3m adhesive mount though so you can move the camera between two cars. The app works fine except for live view, if a bit slow when transferring. In fact the camera will want to save both a high quality and lower quality video file so that you can transfer the lower quality to a phone much faster. On my iPhone 14 I have to turn off cellular to get the live view to work. I have to put the phone in Airplane mode and then turn back on only wifi and then I can see the live view. If I don't do that it's just black. For copying videos I prefer to just take the whole camera off the mount and carry it to a computer. The magnetic mount makes that a breeze. Overall I'm very happy with this. Definitely better than the Viofo, and even better than the BlackVue DR650 I had a while back.

I like it, but I’m not sure if I love it. The picture quality is amazing, the integrated rear camera option works perfect. I wish it was capable of a higher capacity micro sd like a Terabyte. I can not get a full day with the 4k setting, so I lose a lot of good clips on long trips. The app is okay, but I use the player app on my MacBook for the best user experience. I would recommend, but understand that technology is never perfect.

I wish I could give 5 but the app is baaaaad. The quality of video is great, works good on my windshield, not to mention that is 50% ceramic tint. Like I said: pairing the dashcam with the app is ridiculous. Will be easier to find a witness for the accident than having the video ready.

Got it for a $100 discount & I believe it’s a good product. Switched from the 320xr. As far as video quality it’s much superior, but one thing that I noticed is that the videos have a shake in them, compared to the 320xr which has no shake, even when going over bumps. Also the 320xr camera doesn’t fit into this device. If you’re looking for smooth high frame rate quality videos & very clear license plates, then I suggest this camera, otherwise get the 320xr if you can find it for $100 like I did. It records great footage at 1/5th of the price & includes a back camera. Otherwise you have to spend an extra $100 when getting this. The videos also don’t sync well on this dash cam so if you’re doing YouTube videos you’ll have to do a lot of time tuning for the front & back edits, the 320xr doesn’t have this problem, but again this camera has superior video quality.

Yeesh. I hate reading bad reviews, because I just know the user screwed up somewhere because nothing can be that bad. Unfortunately this is an exception. Its possible I just got a dud. Either way, this unit is awful. Two days after the return window closed, the internal screen half delaminated itself from the touch screen, rendering that half of the screen "untouchable". I have since been forced to use the app to adjust settings and whatnot. NextBase support claims it is due to high temperatures, and will not warrant the device. Well duh, its designed to be mounted on a windshield and it gets hot during the day. A week after that, it started locking up. Not from overheating mind you, but at random times. I thought it was due to the SD card failing, as is commonly referenced on the Nextbase website, so I replaced the card with one of their specific branded units. The change seemed to fix things for awhile, but it came back by locking up at random times again. Blue power light on, red record light on, no response from the screen or app. Hitting the reset button is required to bring it back. Switched SD cards again, worked well for 2 days, and back to square one. I've missed several important moments I thought were captured but were not due to the device freezing. When it works, its the best...day or night, excellent video quality. On today's review, I've had the device mounted in my 2017 F250 for eight months, and keep a pen in the console to regularly poke up on the reset button.

So much potential, but the 2x I've wanted it to work so far it has failed me... Design is great, fits nicely in my windshield. - Picture quality is fantastic, nicely packaged, but... - The Nextbase button (used to mark videos) is too close or somehow messes with the recording. So I've attempted to press it 2x when an incident happens, and it seems I must have pressed the record button which stops recording? - I managed to lose the very video I really wanted? - Let's lose the stop/start recording button (make it optional) so it ALWAYS records no matter what short of holding the power button or doing some press and slide type movement. - I'm going to have to re-mount it somewhere else so I can see if it is actually recording. The mount is a bit too loose for the button press - Should be able to press buttons without repositioning the camera each time. The app is glitchy. - SLOW and occasionally you have to re-open it to see the latest set of videos. - Lose the preview, or make it work better. - It also fights with Wireless Android Auto - so I have to shutdown my vehicle to do anything with the camera. - There has to be a better way. - Ideally I'd love it if it could link to Google/OneDrive and automatically upload videos (tagged, or everything, or whatever I want) when I'm near my home WiFi network. There's definitely room for improvement, but as of now I don't think I would buy this one again.

$500 (bought camera, rear cam, cords several sd cards) down the drain with little to no tech support. can’t speak to anyone on the phone, only email. i had to return one to store because it was stuck in ‘on’ position, but still gave this company a chance. Well, the app doesnt work so the ‘what three words’ feature is useless. Not guaranteed to accept all SD cards(#moremoney to purchase one of theirs) and now not working not even 6 months post purchase. sure enough, i was warned in reviews. the tricky thing about reviews is that some people give great reviews and then there’s the “oh, i had the most awful experience” ones that you reason ‘maybe that unfortunate experience wont happen to me’ until it is you! Walk away. I repeat…Walk A-way. Losing the money really sucks, but the hardest part to swallow is i had my chance to spare myself this headache early on and didnt. oh well, just a few more payments before i’m done with this trash camera and company. and no, it doesn’t handle heat well….and i am in Maryland.

Works great! I love having my work vehicle covered front and back. I love the parking mode feature which will allow peace of mind when parked shopping at a retailer or distributor for material. It records every drive, and sends the videos to the Nextbase app. The quality is 4K and crystal clear, with image stabilization.

Decided to go with the 622GW and it does not disappoint. The video quality is amazing, setup is really simple, menu is clear and easy to understand. The sticky pad is extremely strong so make sure you have the exact spot where you want to put it. Audio playback is also high quality. Overall an amazing product.

The basic system appears to be the same as the 422 and 522. Major advertised advantage is 4k and night capability. I tried it but could not read license plates. Admittedly, I did not use Nextbase's high priced microSD card and that may have made the difference. But seriously, only real need for that is if I'm swiped by a hit and run. If I am just trying to document an accident I am in or fight a moving violation, the earlier versions should be just as good. Having only 15 days to try it I went ahead, returned it and bought the 422. So far, the same.

This camera is amazing! Crisp clear at 4k. Super easy to install. If you do use 4k you want to buy a good sized sd memory card.

Super awesome camera and compact. Very easy to use and has a very helpful app that’s easy to navigate and pull photos/video from to your phone easily.

First off the app is terrible, it hardly works with iphones. The live cam only works if you put your iphone into airplane mode. When the camera activates, it somehow prevents iphones from connecting to CarPlay, it also randomly turns your vehicle speaker off. The orher major problem is the camera is so big, when it gets hot the camera just falls off of your windshield. Ive been to geek squad audio installers 4 times, but they just put double sided tape. On the 4th attempt i was forced to go buy gorilla glue tape so the geek squad installer could try something stronger. I dont think i should have had to pay $11 for a roll of tape! The camera still falls, so now i have a useless dash cam.

Unbelievably clear photo footage from the front and rear cameras. The guys at Geek Squad did an amazing job installing it. So neat and the wires we completely hidden from view.

This has been a good upgrade, I put in a lot of miles and this has been working well with my rear cam. It is fast and clear when watching clips back. It pairs with the android app better than the 522 did.
