Like only having one lid vice separate one for pressure cooking.

Ninja products are my fave bought my first foodi a few years ago decided to buy another because it’s so good and can be used for everything!

I’ve been a big fan of Ninja products for several years. They are consistently innovative high quality small appliances that outperform the competition. The original Ninja Foodi brilliantly reimagined the pressure cooker and the air fryer by combining them into a single appliance. I was hooked by how versatile and multifunctional the Foodi was for preparing a multitude of meals. So versatile that I have used mine more that any other small appliance. At times almost daily because it consistently delivers perfect results whether pressure cooking, baking, or air frying. From wings to pot roast, from burgers to fries, from cheesecake to corn on the cob everything was yummy. One small inconvenience with the original Foodi was what to do with the pressure cooker lid when you weren’t using it. Ninja clearly recognized this issue and has now reimagined the new Foodi with a single multipurpose lid they call the SmartLid. No more switching of lids and no need to store an extra lid. When I got the new Ninja Foodi 14-in-1, 6.5-QT Pressure Cooker Steam Fryer with SmartLid I was of course eager to explore it’s improvements. In the box you find the 1460 watt Foodi, the 6.5 cooking pot, the cook & crisp plate, a reversible rack, a recipe booklet, and a quick start guide. The Foodi itself has a new improved look. Gone is an abundance of plastic which is replaced now with a sleek stainless steel exterior and updated more sophisticated control panel. The SmartLid is a welcome addition with 3 positions depending on your cooking mode. One for pressure cooking, one for SteamCrisp, and one for Air Fry/Stovetop. I was intrigued by the new addition of this SteamCrisp mode. Ninja say it steams and crisps at the same time and cooks faster with crispy and juicy results. I had to try it. Ninja’s recipe booklet suggests SteamCrisp for chicken wings so I thought I’d try it. I had made wings in the older Foodi many times and had used a two step method starting with pressure cook and then finishing the wings with AirCrisp. I wondered how SteamCrisp would compare. Ninja suggests 20 minutes from fresh or frozen wings. I was skeptical and I was wrong. Sure enough, 20 minutes later I had restaurant quality crisp and juicy wings now in a single step process. The Foodi truly is a super versatile appliance with 14 programmable cooking modes including Pressure Cook, Steam & Crisp, Steam & Bake, Air Fry, Broil, Bake/Roast, Dehydrate, Sear/Sauté, Steam, Sous Vide, Slow Cook, Yogurt, Keep Warm, Proof. The meal possibilities are endless while simplifying and speeding up cook time. You really can cook every meal in the Foodi if you wanted to. The Foodi makes a wonderful gift too. Highly recommended.

PROS: - Easy to use - Dishwasher safe - Takes the role of multiple appliances - Easy to read display - Included recipe/cook book CONS: - A little bulky == SETUP == Ninja included a crisping plate and cooking rack, which helps this cooker take over the role of multiple cooking appliances. They also included a nice little recipe/cook book to help you get the most out of your new pressure cooker. One of my favorite things about this product is that the cooking pot, crisping plate, and rack are ALL dishwasher safe! So, when you get your new pressure cooker home, just toss the components in the dishwasher before your first use. Compared to older pressure cookers, this Ninja unit has a smaller counter footprint, but it's still quite large so make sure you have enough space and that it's not going to be sitting directly under a cabinet (probably not a good idea to blast the bottom of your cabinet with steam). == AS A PRESSURE COOKER == This is SUPER easy to use, even if you've never used a pressure cooker in the past. The silver lock will move into one of three positions: pressure cook, air fry, and "SteamCrisp". When you use the pressure setting, make sure to close the steam valve at the top of the cooker. The first dish I made with this cooker was a beef stroganoff recipe that I love. It came out GREAT! While Ninja advises to let the cooker slowly release the steam/pressure, you can still just manually open the valve for any recipe that calls for the quick release. == FOR FRYING FOOD == My test for how well an appliance that claims to fill multiple roles, especially as an air/steam fryer, is to make simple buffalo wings. Ninja's included recipe/cook book has a wing recipe that utilizes the "SteamCrisp" feature (just uses 1/2 cup of water with the steam plate). I wasn't sure how crispy the wings would turn out with steam cooking, but all I can say is: wow. The last time I had wings come out this crispy was when I owned a dedicated air fryer. Ninja really did a great job. == CLEANING == The cooking pot, crisping plate, and rack are all dishwasher safe, making cleanup super easy. The cooking pot is super easy to clean by hand if you need to. I can't find anything anything from Ninja stating that the cooking pot is nonstick, but it really seems to be based on how easy it is to clean. == BOTTOM LINE == When Ninja claims that this appliance can replace multiple dedicated appliances, they mean it. Cleanup is as easy as it gets, which is a HUGE plus. This does an excellent job as a pressure cooker and does very well at filling in the role of a steam/air fryer.

Bought for favorite foodie client. She loves it. She has used this to replace 3 other appliances she was using.

Easy to clean, easy to use. Have so much fun trying new things. Haven’t even used all its features yet. Can’t wait to try new things.

Here’s the short version of my take on the Ninja - Foodi 14-in-1, 6.5-QT Pressure Cooker Steam Fryer with SmartLid: I absolutely love this machine! It does in 30 min to 2 hrs what my mom used to spend an entire Sunday working to accomplish. I can decide at 5:00 we’re having a whole chuck roast for dinner and have it on the table by 6:30, veggies and all. The roast is perfectly browned on the outside, perfectly cooked, tender and juicy on the inside! The three-position SmartLid slider is the key to it all. Need a pressure cooker? No problem. Set the SmartLid slider to Position 1. In our home we have a pressure cooker/slow cooker combo unit by another brand, and it is prone to the occasional leak while pressurizing. The Ninja pressurizes noticeably faster and more reliably. And, boy, is it quiet! I don’t miss the sound of a sputtering steam valve as pressure builds. Need an air fryer? Couldn’t be simpler. Position 3. It’s exactly the Ninja air fryer results I’ve come to expect from our dedicated appliance. If I have any gripe, it’s that I prefer the removable front-load fryer basket with the handle on the front. It’s easier to toss the foods being air-fried. It’s not that big a deal. Our silicone tongs do the trick just fine. SmartLid slider position 2 is where the magic of this machine happens: The Steam & Crisp setting. The fact that one machine, in one operation cycle, can produce results like this -- crispy on the outside, perfectly cooked and juicy on the inside -- just blows me away. The Steam & Crisp setting really sets this Ninja apart. The included Inspiration Guide (recipe book/cooking guide and charts) is loaded with easy-to-follow recipes. Perusing its pages, reading cooking tips, taking note of suggested cook times and temperatures, provides all the confidence needed to undertake new cooking adventures. The results are incredible. I’ve been making breads for years, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this machine also has a Proof setting. I haven’t tried it yet, but it is an exciting feature. Temperature and humidity control during the rise is always a struggle, and I can’t wait to check it out. I love the combined functionality of the pressure cooker and air fryer, and the simplicity of the SmartLid slider is a marvel. Being able to cook a protein dish -- beef is my go-to -- from raw/frozen to beautifully browned (and crispy on the outside if that’s how you like it) in one appliance is amazing. I highly recommend it.
