Customers praise the NES Classic Edition's game selection, ease of use, small size, and the inclusion of HDMI for modern TVs. Positive comments also highlight the nostalgic appeal and affordable price. However, a common complaint centers on the short controller cord length. Overall, the system is seen as a fun and easy-to-use retro gaming experience.

It’s tiny in a good way because it doesn’t take a lot of space. The cord to the controller is very short. You need to pull a chair in front of the tv or sit in front of it to use. Has lots of classic games. Easy plug and play. My 9 yr old and 18 yr old love it.

Games are fun exactly how a I remembered them. We had a blast playing all the games except the configuration from games to controller are horrible. The control it comes with does not move accordingly..it gets stuck! Bought a wireless one amd same exact problem!

Note: I have not opened the product yet. It's a gift for a younger cousin.
The product packaging is in great condition and is relatively small. People have complaints about the length of the controller wire on here so please consider that before buying if that is a huge selling point.
But the games included are absolutely outstanding and anyone who has ever even appreciated a Nintendo game of any sort, can find some type of amusement in this retro sleep package.
If you can get your hands on one, I would highly reccomend you play all the games at least once to thoroughly appreciate what it has to offer. As for the price, it is not a bad deal at all, I think for the amount of games you are getting that it is worth it.
NOTE AGAIN: I have not opened the product, this is just my initial review of other people and first impressions.

This is one of those products that takes you back to your youth. It's fun and works great with my 65-inch 4K TV. Setup is super simple and you don't have to deal with a bunch of game cartridges because everything is built into the console.
Speaking of the console, it's tiny! The NES Classic is surprisingly small. When I removed it from the box I was shocked at how small it actually is. For size comparison, I'd say it's less than half the size of the original NES.
If you can get your hands on the NES Classic, absolutely do it. At $60 it's a steal and hours of fun.

I want to start by saying that the only reason I'm not giving this excellent piece of hardware a solid 5 stars is because this console was almost impossible to get, in part because of people looking for a quick profit, and in part because Nintendo thought they wouldn't sell a hundred thousand units, I guess.
Aside from that complaint, the hardware is exceptional, it's a must have for people that grew up playing with the NES (I'm a SNES kid, but that's another review lol), and it's also a collector's item (especially due to its undeniable rarity as Nintendo really underestimated their fan base). The games are optimized for HD screens with different filters for the picture (do note that the games will have the 1990s graphic quality), there IS an HDMI port on the console, and it's USB powered. The controllers feel the same as they did on the original NES (not so much on the shrunk JP Famicom version, though)
I really liked the fact that Nintendo is coming back with the classics, some would say it's easy profit as it's nothing new from scratch, but I personally don't care, and it's an answer to the question "What happens when my original OG NES breaks, and there's zero used market for another console?"
Emulation would be another answer, but nothing beats the classic!

This is definitely worth the price. I understand that, like other classic consoles, it is not expandable, so it is what it is. One of the greatest things is that my kids are getting to experience NES for the first time and they love it too!
I think this system is great, but this is what I'm not giving it a 5:
1. Controller cord is too short and forces you to buy an extension. A wireless controller would have been nice.
2. I feel like the number of games could have been more than 30, especially when you consider other classic consoles like Sega contain 80 games.
Some of the game choices are questionable (ie - I would have preferred Tetris over Dr. Mario). I have to assume there is going to be a "volume 2" which includes games that are conspicuous by their absence. It definitely left me wanting a little bit more.
Overall a lot of fun. Looking forward to getting a second controller when it's available.

Super easy to hookup and packed with original games that take you back to your days of youth. All of the games are the original games and exactly what you played back in the day. The console is small and easy to hide in your entertainment center. The one draw back is the very very short cable that comes along with the controller. I purchased a separate wireless controller that works great with this console.

I've been wanting this since it released so of course I was ecstatic to see it in stock. Has good selection of throwback games. Don't like how short the cord is for the controller though. Would be nice if 2nd controller was included but they are keeping true to the original in that sense. Reasonable price for what you get, fits in the palm of your hand. Happy with my purchase.

I was so happy when Best Buy got these back in stock. This gaming system is lightweight (fits on the palm of your hand) and is easy to connect via HDMI. You get 30 games and all of them are classic - from Super Mario Bros 1, 2 & 3 to Castlevania and Legend of Zelda. You don't have Duck Hunt for obvious reasons, but for the $60 I paid, it was well worth it.

Got this for my parents for christmas so they could re-live their favorite games on modern TV's via HDMI. This console is super tiny so it doesn't take up much space and the controllers feel just like the original. System is easy to use and responds quickly. The games look great. My parents spend hours on Super Mario and Pac Man and Donkey Kong and absolutely love it. The controller cord is ridiculously short as others noted so you NEED an extension cord for the controller unless you want to sit on the floor in front of your TV.

Perfect for those who grew up with this console and for those who never got a chance to play them. The NEA classic is great, so many good games, VERY small and hooks up to tvs with HDMI. Only downfall is it comes with 1 controller and it is SUPER short. I recommend getting the 2 pack extension cables from Best buy as well.

This item is great for many reasons. With 30 classic NES hits and top titles like Super Mario Bros 1 -3, Super Contra, Double Dragon and much more. Now you're kids can be reintroduced to the classic hits you grew up playing.
Although very small in size, and I mean tiny (the controller is the same size as the unit). It's HDMI ready and hooks directly up to your TV. Still with that same great 8-bit look you remember but with the advantage of Pixel Perfect technology making the quality outstanding. Each pixel is a perfect square and you see it exactly as it was originally designed.
My biggest complaint is the length of the cables for both the TV as well as the controllers. You can purchase extensions separate but that would've been nice to come together in the initial package. Also, that yet again they did not reproduce enough to meet the demand. But I love Nintendo, so I do believe it's worth the highest of ratings

I'm an old school kind of guy and these new school video games with 52 buttons and pressing 12 at a time to do a combination move aren't for me. Ok, a bit of an exaggeration, but I'm much happier with my "A" and "B" buttons to kick and punch. Simple.
The graphics are about as good as they were when the Nintendo was originally released although it does have an hdmi output now. It comes with a bunch of classic games like Punch-out, Mario Bros and my favorite Tecmo Bowl. You can't add any games other than what it comes with, but I'm fine with that.
My only complaint is that the cords for the controllers are way too short. We would end up sitting right in front of the TV to play. To rectify the problem, I went online and order some extension cables for the controllers and we are all set. For about $20 for two cables, I wasn't all that upset.
I didn't buy this compete with a PS4 or Xbox, just wanted something that I can master easily enough and for a bit of nostalgia. My 5 and 6 year old sons have taken to some of the games as well, which is fun for me because we play for about an hour every other day and we just hang out. Nothing could be better!

Well, the premise of the Nintendo Classic is very simple: appeal to nostalgia. As I opened the box and looked at the small console, memories from long ago suddenly flooded my head. They actually managed to capture the look and the console seems like something you'd rather put on the shelf for display. It seems well built. The controllers inject another shot of nostalgia. They are well built and feel exactly how I remember -down to the discomfort in my palms after a while of playing. My biggest gripe is that the controller's cable is a joke as far as length. You basically have to sit a few feet away from the 55" TV and that's unforgivable. I had to set it up on my 32" 1080P to enjoy it. Setting it up is rather easy. Plug to power; plug to TV HDMI and plug controller. The interface is nothing to rave about but does its job. The games look great in a 4K TV. They are vivid and crisp. Sure they are very pixelated and basic, but the nostalgia goggles will take care of that. I spent literally 3 hours playing non-stop many games. Which brings me to the games lineup. I would say that it is solid. The likes of Punch Out (sans Mike Tyson), The Legend of Zelda, Ghosts 'n Goblins, Mario Bros and Ninja Gaiden among other makes it worth buying. Well, in the end, I think this is a great value and I recommend checking it out.

I purchased this item due to growing up when it was originally popular, and I haven't been disappointed at any point. I purchased an extra controller and the extender chords for it, so we could play two player and not hug the TV at the same time, and it's been hours and hours of entertainment thus far. Sure you can get the wireless controllers and it be easier, but there's no nostalgia in that. I love the selection of games they chose for the console since they have enough that I enjoy playing, some my boyfriend likes, and there are even some that I can start letting my kids play as well. One of the other great parts of this console is the size, because with the carrying case you can take it with you to enjoy other places. The price point is also a good selling factor, since I think it's fairly priced for what games come on the console.

Pros. 30 games for $60 is amazing. Pretty much $2 a game. They put in some real classics but left out just enough big games to make a sequel. The design follows the original pretty closely but at half the size. This can be displayed via HDMI and has 3 different filters. 1 is the pixel perfect and looks amazing and modern. Another is CRT mode and is grainy like the olds TVs you remember. You can also switch the display size to 4:3.
Cons. The controller cables are no joke, 2.5 feet long. So buy the extension. Unless you want to play like you did as a kid, 3 feet from the tv haha. When you want to play another game you have to push the reset button each time! -.-

I grew up during the Commodore 64 era, which was a glorious time in computer gaming history, in my opinion. One of our first consoles was the Odyssey2 and the Atari 2600. I remember playing Intellivision and Colecovision at friends' houses as well. Probably one of the most beloved consoles we ever owned was the Nintendo Entertainment System, though. With Duck Hunt, Mario Bros., Bionic Commando, Punch Out, Contra, and Tecmo Bowl, it was destined to be a classic. When the NES was released a few years ago, I missed the opportunity to purchase it. This time around, however, I picked one up and am happy with the purchase, although it is not a stellar as it probably could be... First of all, there are only 30 games on the unit. There are 3rd party knock-offs available at the same price (or less) that have hundreds of games. True, many of the greats are here, but some of my favorites (like the original Contra or Bionic Commando) are missing. The unit only comes with a single controller and the cord is an abysmal three feet (or so) long. Luckily, the NES itself is small (about the size of four controllers put together) and has a long power cord, so the short cord on the controller is not too bad (just be sure you have a long HDMI cord).
As I said in the review summary, this is a great unit for the sake of nostalgia and the games that are included are some of the most popular ones to be on the NES. There are some other greats that are missing, however, and the short cord on the controller is annoying. The price is probably also a little high in comparison to other units available from third parties or competing platforms (like Atari and Sega). Thus, my four star rating. I would still recommend the purchase for anyone looking to relive old glory of games played on the NES. Just be aware that all of your favorites may not be here.

This system is awesome it allows you to play the 30 games they placed onto it all the greatest ones the only wish I could have was they made a port to expand and be able to download other games or by cartridges that may have made it too big either way it is a great system great price wishing I could have gotten more than one but Nintendo seems to still not be putting them out another con is the very short cord length of the controller and only one controller coming with it but again for the price I understand that had to buy a cord extension and a separate controller but even after that the price for all of it is still well worth it to me

The Nes Classic Edition is a great new release from Nintendo. The console comes complete with 30 pre-installed games and 1 controller. The best feature they added was the HDMI port, making it easy to connect to modern TVs. The console has a handful of resolution options available so you can set it to look like the original NES if you'd like. The controller cord is very short, roughly 1/3 the length of the original controllers, so you will want to pick up a cord extended. You cannot purchase or add extra games, which is fine for most people because they did a good job at selecting some of the best 30 games!

Love this mini version of the classic Nintendo NES game system. It’s great to get to share classic games from my childhood with my own children and relive a memorable part of my youth. The system is extremely small - it fits in the palm of your hand. The classic version only comes with one controller, unlike the mini version of the super Nintendo game system which comes with two. After a quick check it appears you can purchase another controller but it’s a bit pricey. I would recommend it for its ease of use, portability, and wide range of classic games.
