Customers praise the NES Classic Edition's game selection, ease of use, small size, and the inclusion of HDMI for modern TVs. Positive comments also highlight the nostalgic appeal and affordable price. However, a common complaint centers on the short controller cord length. Overall, the system is seen as a fun and easy-to-use retro gaming experience.

Nostalgic Fun with Some Great Games

This is a great little throwback to my youth, playing various games on my NES. The only effective difference is that I don't need to blow out the cartridges before playing the game.
I love this little box (and it IS LITTLE). It looks like a mini-NES, but the controller is full-sized and feels just like the original (except that the cord is laughably short--don't expect to sit too far from the TV with this one). Getting around the menu to select the game you want to play is a little clunky, but once you launch the game, they behave exactly as you expect them to, in all their glory (or lack thereof in a few cases).
There are 30 different games on here. Some are greats and some are not so greats, but I guarantee you'll find something here that makes you smile. I'm just happy it has Mario 3, which is only the best side-scroller game of all time (and I mean that).
The only drawback (aside from the, again, laughably short controller cord) is that the games look much more pixellated on a modern HD TV than they did on the old CRTs of yore. They aren't actually more pixellated, but they certainly look it. That's the effect of today's TVs being so much more crisp and clear than the old CRTs.
I'd give this five stars, but that (did I mention?) laughably short controller cord takes away a star. I think I've heard you can buy extensions, but you shouldn't have to.
Otherwise, for the price, this is awesome!

I bought this as an early present for my grandmother who always complains about nothing fun to do. Remembered how she use to play with this for fun when I was younger. It was very simple to hook up for her. Because she is in an assisted living facility, I also purchased the wireless remote to go with it. Very glad I did because it increased the simplicity for her.
I think the best part was when showing her how to use it, she can finally save her games of Mario. Boy was she happy to see that feature after all this time.
The only thing I wish is that it could be upgraded with other games, but I knew what I was getting when I chose this over the one where you use game cartridge's. Took less than 2 minutes. Very small out of the way. Only thing I recommend is getting the wireless control with it for easier use.

This brings back nostalgic memories, of times running home from school and sitting in front of the tv for hours trying to beat just one more level. There are drawbacks to this system, the short cords being the most blatant but it's worth it. If they come out with another version with more games or an SNES version I'd buy those too.

Great little console for the price and the amount of games that are one it. It definitely provided my fiancee and I hours of entertainment, plus it brought us back to our childhood of playing games like super mario and galaga. We're always so competitive when it comes to games. The reason I gave it four stars is because the length of the cable for the controller. I had to buy an extender cable for 7.99 but its worth it to be comfortable and not so close to the screen.

This system has a bunch of great games on it and while people will say you can just emulate the games or play them on other systems, nothing quite compares to holding those original controllers and playing them in front of a TV. Super convenient, super light and super cheap, the NES Classic is a super buy.

This is a pretty cool little system. Pretty small, fits in hand. Most of the preloaded games are awesome. Comes ready to hook up and play. Only thing I don’t like it the short cord for the controller. It should’ve been a wireless controller, but not a deal breaker. Fun nostalgic games. Worth picking up.

So glad I was able to get my hands on one of these. 30 games to choose from, the only down side to this, is the length of the controller cord. The system itself is the size of a NES cartridge. Do NOT buy this for over $59.99 from auction sites, Nintendo knows the demand is there, give them time and they'll fix their supply issues.

This is a decent system featuring 30 games from the original Nintendo system. Personally, I'd say about 25 are actually fun, but there is a decent variety. I would have liked to see some of the original titles swapped out for others but overall it's a solid lineup. The only other gripe is the controller cords are really short so you either have to buy a long hdmi cable or controllers extension cords. This system is great for the retail price, but I would advise to pass on any ones listed for $100 or more.

This product is very inexpensive and provides hours of fun for our family and friends. I suggest to get the wireless joysticks because the wired cables are way too short. The system is loaded with all the games you will ever need, all the classics.

I was lucky enough to grab one of these from Best Buy before Christmas 2016. Best Buy did a great job accommodating waiting customers.
The product itself is great. Definitely worth the price. Just plug and play. HDMI cable is provided inside the box, so no need to buy one. 30 games built in, 16 of which is 2P. It's great!!

It took me months to finally get my hands on one, but it was worth it! It has a great selection of games, and the saving/suspending features are awesome. Small, portable, and easily connected. My only complaints are the controller cord length (remedied with an extension) and the lack of Ninja Gaiden 2, but I'll live.

For all you Nintendo lovers out there it's a nice compact system with 30 games built into it with no need to blow the dust out of cartridges like in the old days. It's easy to set up and each game has 4 storage spaces to save so you can comeback to where you left off. The only thing I saw wrong was that the cord for the controller is way too short. So I recommend you buy a cord extender as well unless you want to play right in front of the tv. Overall a great product for a great price.

Classic Console Revived

I was super happy to see the Nintendo Classic revived as this mini hand sized console, with HDMI connectivity, and a whole bunch of great games preloaded. I'm glad to see the hassle of taking cartridges in and out of a console is gone with this edition. You also don't have to blow on any cartridges. I miss the old school feel, but enjoy how easy this console is. It's quick plug and play. It has a very simple user friendly menu and allows you to save on up to 4 slots for certain titles. This console has a short corded controller, so if you wanted to avoid sitting on the floor in front of your TV, I would consider buying a controller extension. If you need a 2nd Nintendo Classic controller, those are sold separately, but you can use the Wii classic controllers on it because it has the same type of plug/port. This is a must buy for your children who you want to respect the upbringing in video games and just as much entertainment for the adult retro gamers out there. Waiting in line since 4AM for a shipment of these beauties to come in at Best Buy was well worth the wait.

Nintendo NES was the first video game I played. The NES Classic has 30 old school games including Mario 1,2,3, Paper Mario and all the old games we all loved. You can set the pixels from old school to modern definition. The game is compact, which is good. Get the controller extension. Cord is only 2 ft. long.

This took me back to my childhood as soon as I opened the box. I had been playing emulators and the 1985 NES System, but this is what I had been waiting for and it did not disappoint. Hooking it up to my HD Television by HDMI was the best feeling ever. It was like waking up from a dream about a Birthday and having a piece of Birthday Cake waiting for you on your Nightstand. I played Super Mario and Zelda until my mind went numb and kept playing. Love it.... best money spent.

I was a child of the era of 80's gaming. No console evokes more nostalgia than the original Nintendo Entertainment System.
When I first heard of the NEW Classis, I thought it was an April Fool's prank. Once I learned of its validity, I was immediately intrigued.
I loved playing on the NES when I was younger. The simple six button layout of the controller, the simple plug and play of the games, it was all very easy to navigate and use.
The classic brings that same simpleness, without the need to swap out games. The games are all preinstalled. The selection of games are pretty good. My favorite game has to be Double Dragon II. I like it because it reminds me of the times when my cousin and I would spend hours trying to get past that helicopter level.
The only gripe I have is the length of the controller's line. Luckily for me I have the NES Classic near a computer monitor. If I wanted to use it on a large tv, then I would likely go blind from having to sit so close to the tv.
I wish there was a way to buy and install more games. I would have like to have the ability to go online with the classic and purchase and download other titles; such as TMNT, and TMNT II. I guess licensing plays a role in which games were included.
All in all, a great trip down nostalgia lane.
I wonder how many of these they will make... a gameboy classic, a Wii classic, etc... I will probably end up buying all of them.
Great stuff, keep it up Nintendo.

This took me forever to get! Glad they restocked and it was easier to purchase after the second release. But I will say it was well worth it. Really enjoyed the games especially the ones I enjoyed as a kid. It’s a good deal considering many of these games are hard to find.

The 30 games play almost exactly as the original. Donkey Kong seems to be missing scenes. The cord on the one controller is too short. The size of the NES is small and takes up almost no space. Connects via HDMI immediately and no additional set up is required. They sound is clear, the images are bright. Nice retro gaming that brings back memories of hours of frustration.

My wife and I like the old classic games as much as the new ones. We have our favorites from the Atari age and the Nintendo age. We own the Atari Retro and originally passed on the Nintendo at Christmas. Came across it again and bought it the 2nd time around. It was easy to hook up to any HDMI TV... Yes, I said HDMI Nintendo (It doesn't help the graphics). It does play just like the old Nintendo and has alot of games that we both loved growing up and the nostalgia was a killer. It has Contra 2 (sorry guys no upup downdown) to get 30 lives. PacMan, excite Bike with full customization of tracks, several versions of Mario and one of my fav's Mike Tyson's Punch OUT.... Oh Wait... Just Punch Out, they changed the name some time ago.. Still has Little Mac and his trainer cycling around on the pier. We bought a wireless nintendo controller to allow us to team up on some of the games and we felt like kids again making fun of each other trying to beat each other at the games from our childhood. BTW, all games are installed in the nintendo. No blowing out cassettes and gently sliding them in at various depths hoping to works.
Summary:
Pros: Easy to setup, with alot of classic games: Contra 2, Legend of Zelda (original), Excite Bike, Double Dragon, Punch Out, Mario Bros 2 to name a few. Lots of childhood memories remembered.
Cons: Comes with one wired controller. Recommend buying at least one maybe two wireless controllers if you want to play with your friends or want to sit more than 6 feet from the tv.

I love the new reduced size of the console. Great modern upgrade of the classic NES. I love the size and the fact that there are plenty of games loaded on the hard drive. Only critique would be the length of the controllers and it only coming with one controller.
