I did my research before purchasing, and this item met every mark. The beard trimmer can take a long untrimmed beard down to stubble and then the high-quality stainless steel, circular blades, smoothly shave your face.

I’ve used Philips Norelco razors for years now and always had a good experience with them. So far, this one is no exception and has some key advantages over my previous model. The biggest difference is the layout. Side by side (see my photo) it really doesn’t look like there’s much of a change, as the razor heads are the same size. But the layout is so much wider, feels so much wider, and really makes a noticeable difference in the amount of time it takes me to shave. I’ve never shaved the areas between chin and sideburns so quickly before in my life. It’s fantastic and I love it! It feels smooth on my skin and my skin feels smooth afterwards. That’s a win-win.
I waited for the device to arrive before shaving and was several days overdue from my typical routine. I think I had 7 or 8 days of growth for that first shave with this device. It handled things easily. Yes, I could feel some irritation in the areas of growth (chin and stache, for me), but I expected as much. I should have hit it first with the beard trimmer. Other than that, things went perfectly. My second shave was done after only 3 days of growth and it was completely irritation free and so fast! I think this is going to work wonderfully for my normal shaving routine. (And for the record, my skin ALWAYS breaks out when I use traditional razors and shaving cream. I’ve tried many times with many product. When I shave dry with an electric razor I simply don’t have the same problems. Dry is the way!)
As for other things, the trimmer works as expected and the razor is easy-breezy to clean. It holds a charge for days, if not weeks, and comes with a cable that has a proprietary connector on one end and a USB-A connector on the other. No charging brick is included, which is fine…but I think they should have gone with a USB-C connection as it won’t be long before this will be the only device I own that still uses that legacy connection.
This brings us to the “smart” features and blue connectivity to the Philips app, which you can get for iOS and Android. I really, really expected this to be terrible and something I will never ever use. But you know what? I think I just might use this. And, lo and behold, the app itself works well and feels very modern instead of something designed for 2004, like most apps in this type of category. Sure, being able to preview live beard and mustache looks using your phone’s camera is beyond gimmicky. But hey - if you want to grow one of those styles, some helpful advice is one swipe away. The same thing can be said for movement monitoring. I mean, how hard is it to shave? If you get the hair off your face you did it correctly. Buuuut…I didn’t know it’s really not recommended for your skin to be shaving for more than 3 minutes. Nor did I really know that I’m supposed to be making small circles with my razor. So, aside from that helpful advice there’s a timer and motion sensing that helps you gauge how well you’re doing in these areas. It’s a lot like many modern electric toothbrushes and as crazy as it sounds actually kinda useful. I mean, there’s a whole news feed with articles and videos about shaving. If you’re into that, great. I’m not. But I give Philips a ton of credit for putting together a nice software experience instead of just phoning it in. We’ve all seen how bad some companies get this part.
So, all in all this model is my new favorite ever and I’ll be relegating my other one as a backup/travel companion. But if I had two faces I would get two of these!

Excellent All-Around Electric Shaver

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I've used electric razors for over 25 years and prefer them to disposable/straight razors so I have a very good idea of what I like when it comes to these products. This 7200 model from Philips Norelco incorporates the things that I like about shavers I have used in the past and mixes in some cool new features as well.
Pros:
- Comfortable, clean, and close shave. This shaver not only flexes at the neck, but also with each of the 3 individual heads.
- Easy to clean, as it is waterproof.
- Excellent battery life (60 minutes). You'll only need to charge once every 2 weeks or so. The included USB charging cord is a nice new feature as we all typically have a USB wall plug. This is perfect for traveling.
- I love the digital display, mostly to see the battery life. It shows you one to three cells of battery life remaining. With other shavers I've had to wait until they start to sound like they are running slower and then I plug them in.
Cons:
- The shaver connects via bluetooth to your smartphone for additional features, but this is not something I am interested in using going forward. The Philips Shaving app told me how high quality my shave was and how long I was shaving for but I was not interested in any of this info. I can tell if I got a good shave by look and feel. I feel this is an unnecessary feature. And don't we have enough apps on our phones already?
This is an excellent electric shaver and I would recommend it to anyone looking to replace or upgrade their current model!

An Improved Shaver, does a nice job

My first electric shaver was the Norelco Triple Header with a slide "closeness" adjustment during High School. I used through College. A fwe years later I moved to Japan and discovered a new Wet-Dry rechargeable shaver and converted. Now, I'm back to the Philips Norelco 7200, a much lighter shaver than I recall, it claims to have a runtime of 60 minutes with a 60 minute charge. It has a popup trimmer which locks solidly in place. It is a wet/dry shaver which weights 7oz. The handle has a rubbery feel to it, is very comfortable, about 5" long. The entire razor being a little shorter than 7". In glancing at the instruction manual I noticed that they recommend using the shaver with a circular motion, not up and down, that this motion will improve the quality of the shave, and will require require less effort. The shaver comes with a USB-A charging cable, it does not include a USB power adapter (if your like I am I have plenty). Well my bathroom wall outlets actually have 2 usb charging ports, so this was not a problem.
So how did I like, it; the shave on my face and chin was very smooth, moving in a circular motion required some retraining, only under my upper lip did it seems odd. This shaver is noticibly quieter than the electric I've been using. But the shaver provided a nice close shave with no missed area after a few passes. No different than what I'm accustomed to. The wider pentagon shaped pads surrounding the circulat blades did a nice job of smooth gliding over my skin and placing the blade where it did it's job easily. No tugging, no pulling. When it got to doing my neck after several passes there were still whiskers that laid down, flat to the skin that the shaver missed repeatedly. This is a problem I've always faced, and why I can't use a shaver without a trimmer. The trimmer pops out easily and locks into place (better than what I've been using). With a few passes the "trouble" whisker were dispatched, another pass with the rotary head, brought a smooth neck.
The Shaver comes with an app (doesn't everything these days). The app telles you if your using a circular motion, and keeps a history of how long you shaved an on what days....yawn. The only feature I really liked was the improved battery charge display/status. I don't like to leave things charging all the time (especially if they charge in an hour). I can rely on the charged percentage to remind me to charge the shaver when it gets down to about 20%. The shaver also comes with a plastic cover for the top that protects the head when traveling. It very easy to open to clean, it also comes with a little cleaning brush. The shaver has a LED display on the front that notifies you when it needs cleaning, the battery level (only 3 bars), an app connected indicator and a motion led (which you can't see when your using it), and a SenseIQ logo. My only real complaint is the battery indicator, I'd much rather see a numeric percentage, rather than just 3 bars, maybe I'm just being picky, but needing the app to get a more accurate battery display was somewhat disappointing, although I'm glad the app has it. Other than that the shaver does a great job.

The best Norelco Shaver yet!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I have been using Norelco razors for the better part of 25+ years and have always enjoyed the shaving experience, the quality, and longevity of all my Norelco Razors.
The Philips Norelco 7200 series is definitely the best yet, with a few small tweaks - it would be perfect!
Pros:
- Fast charging
- Gentle
- Thorough shave - probably one of the best I've ever experienced from an electric razor
- Flip-up sideburn/neck trimmer works really well
- Wet or Dry use
- SUPER easy to clean (even without the cleaning pod - see cons below)
App provides a ton of tutorials, live-action shaving feedback
Cons:
There are really only a few (small) cons for this 7200-series Norelco shaver.
- It comes with a USB-A to a Philips/Norelco proprietary plug - No USB-C! USB-C would have been an awesome feature. As a road warrior, the fewer wires I have to pack - the better.
- Also, although it shows in the book, the shaver did NOT come with a carrying case. I was able to reuse one from a razor I no longer use, but at this price point, I would have expected a carrying case.
Overall, this is the best Norelco razor I have had yet. I am little weary of bringing my iPhone or iPad in to the bathroom for the live feedback, but it is pretty interesting to watch and get on-the-shave feedback along with a post-shave summary.
I would *highly* recommend this razor.

Close Shave with Impressively No Irritation

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I was excited to receive the Norelco 7200 as my current Norelco razor is about 5 years old and I was sure they had made some improvements in that length of time, and boy was I right. Identifying their shavers by number has always been a bit of a mystery to me. On the box and shaver body this product is referred to as “Series 7000”, “Shaver 7200”, and “Model: S7887”. I’m sure it makes sense to them, but causes confusion to the consumer when looking for a specific product. No matter what they call it, this shaver delivers on the one thing you buy a shaver to do - produce a close shave with minimal irritation.
In the box you will find the shaver, a charging cord, a cover to protect the shaver heads, a small cleaning brush, and a user manual in English and Spanish. I’ll pick my nits now as a couple small things annoyed me when I first opened the box. The charging cord is a stiff, straight, 28 inch long cord that keeps its folded up shape once removed from the twist-tie. AND gone is the wall-wart charger - it is now just a cord - with Norelco’s proprietary plug for their shaver on one end and an old-school USB-A plug on the other end. You have to provide the wall adapter to charge the shaver. Probably not a big deal nowadays as most people have accumulated a few of these from cell phones and what-not, but I still found it a disappointment. I really miss the old Norelco chargers with the coiled cord - they were easy to store and you had what you needed to use the shaver all in the box. I should also mention that the proprietary plug for the shaver is similar, but now different enough from what was used in the past that the connection is not interchangeable with older shavers. And with the call for universal connectors starting in Europe (where Philips is based), it surprises me that the USB end is an old fashioned A connecter rather than the more modern USB-C. Also, like their more recent offerings (I do go back a long way with Norelco) you cannot use the shaver with the charging cord plugged in to an electrical outlet.
The shaver works with an app for your cell phone called Groom Tribe. There is virtually no mention made of it on the outside of the packaging, and to be honest, I didn’t really find much usefulness in it, but the articles and videos it contains on shaving techniques, problems, and proper use of the shaver and accessories are probably useful for the young man just starting out needing to shave or for someone totally new to the electric shaver experience. The app will visually coach you on proper technique in real time while using the shaver, but I found it hard to monitor my phone on the bathroom counter while shaving. The user manual is fairly well written and has good illustrations to help with cleaning, changing cutting heads, and understanding proper use of the shaver.
The Shaver 7200 contains what Norelco calls “SenseIQ” technology which according to their literature and web site appears to be a combination of “Nano SkinGlide” coating, “Motion Control” sensor, and “Power Adapt” sensor. I really do believe the Nano SkinGlide coating does something, as in the past I would get red, blotchy skin irritation from using my Norelco shavers, especially on my neck. I am a few shaves in with the 7200 and I have yet to experience this issue. It has been noticeably more comfortable to use this shaver than others in my past. The Motion Control sensor is to give coaching feedback via the phone app on proper technique to ultimately have the user make fewer passes over their skin but still obtaining a close shave. The Power Adapt sensor monitors beard density and will automatically increase power of the shaver when needed. My old Series 5000 shaver had a power boosting feature that could be manually turned on via a separate button, but having this monitored and adjusted automatically is a great feature.
Cleaning after each shave is accomplished by opening the shaving head via a simple press of one button and rinsing it with warm water. A more thorough cleaning involving removing of each cutter head separately should be done once a month, again using warm water. Norelco does offer a “Quick Clean Pod” cleaning system, but this shaver did not come with it - it is available with this same shaver in a complete kit. The old Norelco aerosol cleaning and lubricating spray is no longer mentioned in the manual, so it appears to me that lubrication of the cutting heads is not needed. Replacing the cutting heads once a year is still recommended as it has been for as long as I can remember.
After being presented in a different form factor (a separate trimmer head that replaced the shaving head) in the past, the built-in “pop-up trimmer” is back and available on the entire Norelco shaver line-up. This is a welcome change for those users that need this feature. There is a provision to lock the power button when packing the shaver for travel. The motion sensor in the shaver will also light up the battery charge indicator when you pick up the shaver to remind you if it is nearing the time to charge it. When fully charged, Norelco states that the 7200 will deliver about 60 minutes of run time, which will be pretty close to a month for most users once you have perfected your shaving technique.
I have to confess, in the past I have been a “hybrid” shaver and used my Norelco on the area around my mouth and under my nose, and used a razor with a blade for my neck and cheeks. This was to prevent razor nicks in the hard to shave areas around my mouth, and to give a closer shave with less irritation on my neck than I was getting from my old Norelco. With the closeness and less irritation provided by the Shaver 7200, it looks like I will be changing to using the electric shaver for my complete shave going forward. Thank you Norelco for continuing to strive for improvements in your product, and for actually achieving them rather than just creating a bunch of marketing hype.

Excellent Quality, Smooth Close Shave

The Philips Norelco Shaver 7200 is a high quality feature rich electric shaver which gives you a very close shave with no irritation.
In the box you get the shaver, a proprietary USB-A charging cable, a small cleaning brush, and an instruction manual.
A power adapter and a travel pouch, unfortunately, are not included.
The shaver I received came with very little power as indicated by 3 led charging lights located near the bottom of the shaver.
These led lights will flash as the charge fills the battery, then they will light steadily until all 3 lights are solid.
A 5 minute charge is all that is necessary to complete a shave. A 1 hour charge will deliver 60 minutes of shaving.
After charging the shaver you can download the Norelco Trim and Groom app. It will guide you to pair you shaver to your phone via Bluetooth. The app is surprisingly helpful, especially if you are new to Norelco shavers. It will guide you in the proper shaving technique to maximize your results. Even I, a long time Norelco shaver user, was able to improve my technique. It will also track your shaving history and answer any questions you may have about the product.
The shaver has SenseIQ which makes adjustments as it learns your beard density and shaving technique.
This is a wet/dry shaver, allowing you to shave in the shower or with a shaving cream or gel.
Cleaning is very quick and easy as you can turn on the shaver and run it under warm water. Then continue to rinse the blades after opening the top. You can lock the shaver when you travel by holding the power button for 3 seconds.
This is very handy as I just traveled and I had this issue where the shaver was bumped in my luggage and turned on.
So how does it shave? Fantastic! The shave is close and smooth. There is no irritation and it requires very little pressure to be applied. The contour heads seem to wrap around your face, especially around the neck and chin, and maintains full contact with your face. This results in a consistently smooth shave with no missed spots.
Norelco recommends that you shave for 21 days for your beard to adjust to the shaver, but honestly, after just a couple of shaves I can’t imagine it getting any better.
The only negatives are the lack of a travel pouch, which even my older cheaper Norelco came with, and the lack of a power adapter which has become the norm among most manufacturers.
I would definitely recommend this shaver to everyone.

I struggle with staying clean-shaven because my facial hair grows in quite quickly. I like the convenience of an electric shaver, but sometimes they just aren’t powerful enough to handle my facial hair. I’ve used Philips Norelco Wet/Dry shavers in the past and been mostly happy with them. So, I was looking forward to trying the 7000 series shaver out.
It comes in a clearly labeled box and ships with a user manual, charging cable, and a blade cover/guard. It connects with a smartphone app via Bluetooth and can be cleaned easily under the water. Before I used it the first time, I let it charge for a couple of hours. It came with a partial charge out of the box but I wanted it to be at full charge before I used it.
Even with a full charge, the shaver seemed to be low-powered when I turned it on. I started shaving with it and it seemed to work just fine for me. If my hair is too long, it is a little harder to use, but the shaver does a good job overall. I love that it has the pop-out precision trimmer because it’s really helpful for sideburns and around my neckline.
Thanks to the 360º flexible heads, I haven’t experienced any razor burn or major skin irritations like I usually have with shavers. The battery life seems to be solid. The specs claim a 60-minute run time, but I haven’t had to use it continuously for that amount of time. The app is a nice feature even though I haven’t utilized it that much.
The Philips Norelco 7000 series shaver is a cost-effective, high-quality option for a clean face. It is a great choice for those who need a powerful shaver to keep up with their fast-growing facial hair. While it may not offer all the features of more expensive shavers, the Philips Norelco 7000 series shaver is an excellent value for those looking for a reliable, high-performing shaver.

I'm a lifelong norelco guy. My 10 year old one is starting to lose battery charge. This one gets a little closer. The new design doesn't get around under my nose as well as the older design. The battery initially seems like it will last more than 3 weeks. The trimmer design is a large improvement. I didn't spring for another $100 to try the even closer model. I do wish i went for the included case and cleaner though.

Best shave of any product as this is a new design of the flex head.
I have used these since 1970 in the military and won’t buy another brand! Ever!
Some people prefer another type design for an electric shaver (face specific) but this one has always worked for my face.
I prefer this brand and design of an electric razor to all other brands I have used over the 60 years of shaving.
You get what you pay for and this is an outstanding razor.
Norelco shavers
Philips began making electric shavers in 1939. World War II delayed their introduction in the United States until 1948. The product was not successful until a two-headed model was introduced in 1951.
Philips introduced the Philips Norelco Body-groom shaver for shaving male body hair in 2006. An online website as well as a demonstration on Howard Stern's show garnered attention.[5] It was advertised in a science fiction series of adverts and shorts directed by Bruno Aveillan called Robotskin in 2007.

Have been using Norelco for a long time and my heads were getting old. Was worried now it would compare to my old, well the first shave was way better than my old one so do not wait upgrade. It is lighter, quite, easy flip up top for cleaning. Wish they had just put a USB-C port on the bottom of it.

Finally a painless, bump-free rotary razor

I was reluctant to request this Norelco rotary razor because I’ve had multiple bad experiences with Norelco rotary razors in the past. In addition to twisting and pulling hairs, previous Norelco rotary razors caused me to also break out in numerous painful razor bumps. The electric rotary razors caused just as many bumps and ingrown hairs as a manual razor. From the moment I powered on and pressed the 7200 against my face, I could tell this was going to be a completely different rotary razor experience. For starters, it feels much more gentle against my skin. Gone is the painful twisting and pulling of whiskers of past Norelco razors. The 7200 feels more like a flat foil razor against the skin. It’s smooth, cuts cleanly, and doesn’t pull or twist whiskers at all. Shaving with the 7200 is completely pain-free. It is wet and dry shave capable although the skinglide coating works perfectly fine for me dry. Like most razors, the 7200 has a pop up long hair trimmer for touching up longer facial hair and sideburns. Norelco suggests allowing a few weeks for the shaver to fully adapt to your skin. I’ve only been using it for under a week but I already like the results so far.
The 7200 is compatible with the Philips shaving app which can be installed on a smartphone or tablet. The app pairs to the shaver through Bluetooth and provides useful tips and suggestions for optimal shaving results and comfort. It also has guided shaving modes for helping achieve the best results. Cleaning the 7200 after use is quick and easy. It has a convenient one push eject button that causes the hinged head to pop open for cleaning. I don’t use the optional cleaning pods but instead brush and blow away loose hair, followed by a water rinse and a quick spray of disinfecting, blade cleaning, lubricant spray after the head dries.
The 7200 is the rotary razor that people like me have been seeking. It’s a solid option for easily irritated skin and skin prone to razor bumps. If it can shave me without pain and bumps, I’m confident there aren’t too many faces out there that couldn’t tolerate this razor.

Had an old Braun that was a top of the line shaver. The new one is great, close shave, quiet and easy to clean. I did my research and this was highly rated. I understand why, great razor.
