However, we purchased this for an older JVC TV and tried all the JVC program codes - the previous channel and TV menu functions were not working well. So we have to return it and try another.

While I was scanning the web page my eye was drawn to this with the large contrasty lighted buttons. I thought I'd read the specs carefully but must have confused it with the similar no longer available from best buy other RCA remote. Anyway here is the perfect remote for someone like my mother yet useless with older sets which most old people have! The remote manufacturers have blown it again. Searching the web, I've been unable to find anyone who has found the perfect remote for older and or visually impaired people.

Like a couple other reviewers, the codes didn't work with the TV but when I let the remote do the searching (as detailed in the enclosed instructions) it had me set up and going in about a minute! It works great and I love the big buttons and the optional LED backlight feature. Great product!

So i am not sure if this is always the case but if so then it actually works out for the better. The remote was easily paired to my Sanyo TV and my surround sound system.
