As I sit here listening to the Skullcandy Crusher 540 Active over-ear headphones, I am amazed at the phenomenal feel and sound of the bass. Regardless of whether I was listening to Hip-Hop, R&B, rock, or country music, it all sounds amazing. The main feature of these headphones is the adjustable sensory bass experience, which is a haptic vibration that accompanies the bass drops. It is an absolute game-changer for bass lovers. The only way to accurately portray it is to say it feels like being inside a dance club or listening to music in a car with large subwoofers. The mid-tones and highs sound good. I would give them a 7 out of 10 because they could use some tuning for my personal taste. However, the Skullcandy app does provide a hearing adjustment tool similar to a hearing test that identifies what sounds you can hear and three equalizer presets (Music, Movies, Podcasts) that work well and sound good for their respective use types. Another feature is that they are "Active." At first, I thought that meant active noise canceling, but it meant they are for an active lifestyle, meaning they can be used while out and about or working out. This is why it has a soft fabric covering the ear cups instead of a leather-like material. The head clamping force and 180-degree swivel of the headset make it comfortable enough for all-day use, and the batteries, which are rated for 40 hours, are sure to last for weeks of moderate use. Also included with the headphones are a USB-A to USB-C cable, an aux cable, and a carry bag. It would be nice if they came with a hard case, but unfortunately, they don't. However, it still doesn't change the fact that I absolutely love these headphones, and I would absolutely recommend them, especially if you want best-in-class bass.

Overall, these headphones are good. They have very strong bass, and the material seems durable enough to last for a long time. I mainly use these headphones for working out, and they feel comfortable for long periods of time. The battery life is excellent. Even as a forgetful person, I haven't experienced a single time when I ran out of battery. But the lack of noise-cancellation is a major drawback. They are very bad in noisy environments, like on a train. The play/pause button can also be very unresponsive, taking a few seconds to react.

These Skullcandy Crusher 540 Active headphones are incredible! The bass is absolutely next-level—you can literally feel it rumble. Music, movies, and even games sound amazing with the adjustable sensory bass. They’re super comfortable for long use, and the battery life is solid. Bluetooth connection is strong, and the overall build feels premium. If you’re a bass lover, these are a must-buy. Skullcandy really delivered with these. Highly recommend!

The Skullcandy company is synonymous with bass. I got these headphones fully expecting them to bring the bass. I had no idea I was going to get this. For those looking for bass-ey headphones, I would strongly recommend these as I can't think of any other headphone bringing this experience. Setup was...iffy. While I was easily able to connect the headphones via my Bluetooth settings, When I went to connect them via the app however, issues. It error'd out several times. I disconnected the Bluetooth and tried to connect directly from the app to no avail. There's no rhyme or reason to how I eventually got them to connect to my phone, and work via the app, but I did. In terms of design... ehhh. The design of the Crusher 540s isn't bad, it's just kind of plain. The buttons aren't labeled Outside of the Skullcandy logos, the 540s look kind of generic. I will say however, the ear muffs are super comfortable. After a few days of swapping these out for my regular "high end big brand" headphones...I had no problem playing these for long periods. The audio...I've never experienced anything like this before. The bass technology used in these headphones completely changes the experience. It literally puts you in a zone. When they say you feel the bass...you feel it via haptic feedback. It's almost massage like. Sure, there's a slider to adjust it...but, why? Well, actually, when the music you listen to isn't bass heavy, it can be beneficial to turn down the slider. Still, with these...find some music with some bass! The Skullcandy Crusher 540 headphones are an experience like no other. They're not perfect...I think design could have more aura...I think there has to be some issue in the wireless technology/syncing that makes connecting iffy. Once I got them connected they worked fine, but I question in the long run how do those issues impact things? What is the impact of having the bass slider turned up for months, years..? I'm willing to find out, and would strongly recommend these to anyone looking for some headphones to keep them locked in, gym, work, wherever.

I have now spent a lot of time with my Skullcandy Crusher 540 Active headphones, and they are quickly becoming my go to headphones for working out. This is due to these headphones being extremely comfortable, mainly because the ear cushions breath. The ear cushions are a breathable mesh rather than a vinyl or leather covering. So they don't get slick or gross due to sweat. The sound quality on Skullcandy crusher 540 Active is very good. I love the clear audio combined with a punchy bass, that is also adjustable. In every sound setting i tried out, these headphones performed well. Skullcandy also has a new app that you can link with your headphones. The app is very easy to use and is in line with just about every other headphone app i have. You can keep the firmwear up to date, adjust the equalizer, check battery level, and create a custom audio profile. You can also pair your headphones in your Time app. This allows you to track your headphones in case you misplace them. I have already used this feature once today. Overall, i can easily say that the Skullcandy Crusher 540 Active headphones are worth every penny. They have a premium feel and premium sound. They have many great features in which you will not be disappointed.

It’s been about 3 weeks now I’d been looking for a good set for the gym especially since I sweat and do enjoy sitting in the sauna. Knowing that moister isn’t an issue is the greatest. They sit well on my head even when I get a cut. The ear buds are breathable and dry super quickly and the charge last days. And don’t get me started if you love bass like edm music it’s meant for you!

These are great for working out. The bass beats every other headphone I’ve ever worn. I’ve found that headphones have been able to do just about everything speakers can do except replicate a subwoofer. That is until now. It’s nice that you get a slider to control how much bass you want. This way you can make your music feel a little warmer or like you're next to a subwoofer at a concert. The ear cushions seem sweat resistant which makes these great for the gym and probably makes them less prone to falling off during workouts. The headphones grip my head well and do not fatigue my ears. This being said I only wear them for about an hour and an half max. My workouts consist of rowing and lifting weights. They have never fallen off when rowing even when I’m sprinting. The only issue I’ve had with the headphones falling off is when performing lifting exercises that I have to do lying on my back. The overall sound is good. There are better headphones that destroy these it terms of sound, but the bass is unbeatable. And for working out I don’t think I’d buy anything else. Lastly the only thing I don’t like about these is the build quality. They just feel really cheap and plasticky. I don’t think they are worth $200, but I found them on sale. TL;DR Bass is insane. They don’t fall off except when lying on your back. Sound is good enough. Build quality feels cheap.

My long search for gym friendly headphones is over. With Great sound quality, amazing battery life and omg the BASS. Its beautiful. As a gym goer i dont have to worry about sweating so much it stays on my head pretty well doesnt move around much. I love these headphones. My ONLY problem with these headphones and the ONLY reason i didnt give it 5stars is because the headphones die while they’re still at about 20% (according to my phones battery life reader) HOWEVER it did take about 3weeks to die on me and thats with 2-4hrs of daily use. I would recommend and definitely would buy again. I do however wish they came with ANC but until then i will love the crusher 540 actives

Snug fit (it doesn’t get loose while running or working out). FYI if you plan on deadlifting and you’re the type that let your body slam down along with the bar (instead of controlling it back down), these headphones will loosen from your head and/or fall off. No noise cancellation but loud enough to drown out external noise completely. Bass is incredible. Great headphones! I haven’t worn them long enough to say how long they’ll last but 2 weeks in and they work perfect for all of my needs.

I’ve been testing the Skullcandy Crusher 540 Active for workouts and daily use, and here’s the real deal: the bass is insane. Like, shake-your-head powerful. If you love feeling your music during lifts or cardio, these deliver. The custom audio mode and bass slider let you dial in your sound, and the battery life is excellent—easily lasting through long gym sessions and commutes. But here’s the catch: the fit isn’t perfect. For a pair marketed as “gym-ready,” they can feel loose during high-intensity movement. The ear pads are soft and easy to clean, but the overall design gets heavy after a while.

I had been using beats during the gym for the last 2 year but was looking for headphones that were louder and had more bass. These have been perfect for drowning out the noise during the gym and also allows your to control the bass. Also the battery life is great..... didn't have to charge for 3 weeks.

Bought this for my son which he recommended to buy instead of replacing his Beats headphones with the same model. He absolutely loves them. He said the sound and comfort surpasses Beats. Happy with the purchase and would recommend.

If the 540 Active looks very familiar to you, then you will discover there is a good reason for that. The Crusher 540 is a slight variation of the older Crusher EVO. The main difference being the 549 now has cloth ear cups instead of vinyl. The Crusher 540 Active comes in 3 colors, with mine being the dark color tagged by Skullcandy as "Coal." There are also Concrete and Soft color variations available. The Crusher 540 uses the same Skullcandy app and is set up exactly like the Crusher EVO. In the app you can pick from pre,-set EQ options or go through a process to create your own personal EQ. THE Crusher 530 Active is still using the older Bluetooth 5.0, which in 2025 is mostly outdated for any new Bluetooth products coming out. So overall these are very solid headphones, but we've basically seen this before..the bass slider is still the star of the show and these will provide skull rattling bass using the haptic bass method. While it's certainly not accurate or realistic, it is still entertaining and fun.

I love the bass and the sound quality, and when on sale for 100$, for a pair of really good gym headphones, that price cant be beat! I love the fabric breathable ear muffs that go over the ear, which is so nice! Although the quality and feel of it for sure feels cheapy but for 100$, f it, its gym headphones

Headphones have great quality. I use them in the gym and I like the base boost slide for different songs I'm listening too. Very comfortable around the ears and top of the head as well.

Sound and bass are amazing. The headphones have a lot of strength so they won't fall while moving. This may cause discomfort when using them for long periods of time. So far I'm loving them!
