    Nightmare Installation

    I purchased an Ecobee premium smart thermostat that advertises that it works with or without a common (C) wire. (Ecobee website: "The included Power Extender Kit allows for installation in most homes without a C wire."). I also purchased installation from Best Buy. However, Best Buy outsourced the installation to Installs, Inc., who then outsourced it to a third-party handyman. The lead time on the installation was 3 weeks and the handyman finally showed up (1 day late) and immediately said that my existing t'stat's control wiring was only 4 wires and that I didn't have a common wire and that he couldn't install the thermostat. When I explained that the t'stat was supposed to work with or without a C-wire, he said that he understood that, but that he wouldn't install the power extender kit (that allows it to work without a C-wire) in my split-system's indoor fan unit (apparently because of liability reasons). [In my opinion, if you buy a box with 8 components in it, the installation charge should cover all 8 items in the box. - But I digress.] I didn't argue with him, but said that I would hire an HVAC firm to install a C-wire and then call him to get him to come back and install the t'stat. So, 3 days later, the HVAC technician takes one look at my t'stat wiring and tells me, "You already have a C-wire. It's the blue wire tucked back in the middle". So, I had to pay the HVAC contractor a service charge to tell me that the handyman didn't know what he was doing to start with. I called Best Buy that day and rescheduled installation with a new installer. (Installation is another 2 weeks out). To be fair, the Best Buy customer service rep was top-notch and very understanding. And generally, I don't have a problem with the Geek Squad's services. But they need to vet their 3rd-party installers.

    Ecobee Smart Thermostat with Voice Control Install

    I had Best Buy Geek Squad install my new smart thermostat. The product has worked great since the install & the install appeared fairly easy. The Geek Squad rep, Devyn Drufke, was awesome! She was a wealth of knowledge! She helped me tweak a recent Ring install as well! It was very refreshing to have a young woman come and do the install verses always a man! She was all about customer service too! I highly recommend both Best Buy Geek Squad and Devyn Drufke! Thank you Best Buy!

    He arrive when stated. Call about 30 minutes out to announce arrival time. Fixed my Samsung refrigerator. Very happy with service. The Geek squad contract is worth every penny

    The installation of the thermostat was done incorrectly. I had to go in and fix it and work with ecobee to set it up properly! Not quite sure what the 200.00 was for because when I contacted Best Buy they had no clue what to do. To me the 200.00 is way too much money to waste on this.

    Geek Squad Got My Thermostat Working!

    These guys know what they're doing and get the installation done right the FIRST TIME. I had a 3rd party installer come out weeks before to spend 5 minutes at my home and told me the install needed me to contact HVAC (thermostat install). Next time I'm sticking with Geek Squad install even if it's a little longer to get them out to your home.

    The two agents were superb! The thermostat installation may have been complicated because the furnace is in the attic. Not only did the job get done efficiently, he took plenty of time to help me download the app and learn to use it. Yet one more reason why my Total Tech membership is totally worth it.

    Jason Finnimore was the best person to help us get a smart thermostat installed at my parents house. My mother was very pleased with him and his service. He also took the time to call ahead and to make sure we were available.

    Geek squad came thru did the job quick and easy. No issues. Connected quickly. I love them. Learned my families temperature likes quickly and is already paying for itself.

    The agent installed my nest thermostat and I was very satisfied with his work. He was very knowledgeable, professional and courteous. He was also extremely helpful in showing me how it works. If I need anything else installed, I would definitely want the same guy.

    He had my nest connected and showed me how to work it quickly. I just built a new home and Geek Squad has helped me a LOT. They have installed numerous products. They are always very professional, efficient and friendly. I had never really shopped at Best Buy before this new house experience but I am a huge convert & have been recommending them to family and friends. Their service is exceptional and they are always so nice it is a pleasure to deal with them.

    Technician was nice but not thorough. He installed the thermostat without ensuring it would work properly. My home grew colder as my family waited hours for technician to return to remove and replace with the original thermostat. Only had a window of a 14-day return for refund. Scheduled install was already 10-days out with the technician stating he didn’t know if he could come back to replace with original. Thankfully after 7-8 calls he returned to my hime to replace it. Highly dissatisfied.

    The first team that came out to install the thermostat didn't turn off the power and blew a fuse in the system and determined they couldn't install and left. They never rescheduled an appointment. I found out about the blown fuse a few days later when temps dropped and my heater wouldn't kick on. Call and got the second appointment who told me that they could not install it as they didn't bring the right team (apparently they had to install something directly on the unit). I then had to pay $600 for a competent tech at a different company to come and fix my unit and install the smart thermostat. I will no longer use geek squad for anything but installing and hanging TVs.

    Geek Squad installed the first NEST thermostat perfectly, but couldn't figure out the second one. I have a dual zone house. I had to find someone else to finish the job.

    I purchased 3 thermostats. Geek Squad has returned to my house 3 times and haven't been successful with the installation for one of them. I have contacted a HVAC to troubleshoot the issue.

    Friendly representatives who arrived on time to install my new smart thermostat. Unfortunately they wired it incorrectly for a gas versus electric heater which resulted in no heat when I needed it. Had to have a AC representative to come out and correct the problem.
