Customers are saying
Customers often highlight the excellent sound quality, ease of use, and Dolby Atmos capabilities of the 1155W 7.2-Ch. A/V Home Theater Receiver. Many also appreciate the receiver's power and straightforward setup process. While some users noted the unit can get warm during operation and that the menu system could be improved, the positive feedback on sound and ease of use outweighs these concerns for most buyers. The price point is also frequently cited as a positive aspect.

easy to hook up
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My old Pioneer elite didnt have any hdmi ports so it was time for a change...This receiver was very easy to hook up to my new Sony dvd player and tv...I have the Sony htst1500 sound bar but it is in no way as good as this receiver with my separate speakers..I now have a 7.1 Atmos system that really does sound good...unless you don't have room for separate speakers, don' waste your time with soundbars...they are great for a small room or bedroom though..

Easy to use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a 77-year-old female and am not a tech. With that in mind, this AVR was very easy to install and to follow all instructions for use. I have owned the AVR for approx 3 months and have not had any issues.

Nice upgrade from my previous AVR
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a replacement purchase for a previous AVR. I had wlaked in the store thinking of getting a different manufacturers' offering but after some back and forth with the salesperson went with the SONY instead. Glad I did. More power, easy set up, and what else can I say, it's a SONY. (I've always been pleased with their electronics anyway.) - Only downside, it doesn't have a phono input but that was solved with an inexpensive pre-amp.

One of Sony's Best Bang for your Buck
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great Value for the money. Currently using this receiver with my Sony X900H and it's amazing! This is in a 5.1.2 configuration with Klipsch reference series speakers and sub. Support Dobly Vision and ATMOS. Sounds amazing. I placed the receiver in my server rack and have many multiple devices to HDMI passthrough and never have any issues switching inputs. Highly recommend!

Posted .Hi Nightmaredan,
Thank you for the recommendation! You’re now able to experience true home theater sound without limitations. Once you take advantage of Dolby Atmos and DTS:X object-based surround sound, combined with 4K HDR and HDCP 2.2 support, there is no going back! Be sure to take advantage of the flexibility of 6- in/2-out HDMI and multi-room listening, plus voice control powered by Google Home. Don’t forget our Phantom rear surround channels can transform your five-channel system into a seven- channel system too!
Thank you for choosing Sony!

Better than all the sound bars I have had to date
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had several sound bars and 2 that cost over 1k each. So far sound bars just do not compare to even a 5.1 set up in my opinion. Now I will say this receiver sounds very good but it can be quirky, sometimes it will not recognize the Dish Hopper and have to fool with it even though I have a Sony TV. I have replaced HDMI cables and swapped other cables just to try and set it all up again to troubleshoot. I realize all”technology” at times has issues but a lesser experienced user could get frustrated AKA my wife, so please realize there maybe some start up frustrations. It does have a really good GUI but it also seems not to save all selections like to leave unit in Dolby Digital it tends to revert to multi channel sound could be a source issue. If you want a receiver that sounds really good and don’t mind fiddling with it a little then it’s a good choice. If it’s the choice between this and a sound bar definitely go for the 1080 because you will still have frustrating moments with a sound bar. I also bought Sony Sub, book shelf speakers and atmos height speakers the center channel was out of stock so I bought the smaller Definitive Center ( highly recommend) cost of all was comparable if not slightly less expensive than high end sound bar with WAY MORE capabilities and in my opinion better sound.

Great mid-range AV Receiver
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the price this receiver is hard to beat. It's packed with features like Dolby Atmos, and was a significant upgrade from my old Atmos supporting sound bar. I paired this with a set of Polk Signature series speakers in a 3.1.2 configuration and it sounds great with just a bit of tweaking. If your needing just a basic setup that includes support for Atmos speakers this receiver is an excellent choice.

Good product
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to setup and sounds amazing. I had bought a few soundbars, I ended up returning all of them. Mostly for not having a clear voice sound and/or being powerful enough. I ended trying this, and this sounds amazing and I can hear the voices crystal clear. Easy to use and a great combination with its tower speaker and center. I paired this with Klipsch woofer.

Noticeable upgrade in sound!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After my upgrade to an XBOX series X, with new audio and video capability, my ~8 year old Pioneer receiver. I upgraded to the 1155W received as well as adding 2 Atmos speakers. It was easy to set up and a significant improvement in sound. Also seems to play well with the new Xbox.

Lots of power!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is full of power and also very clean while pumping out those watts! I give it 5 stars in all categories but one. That one is the quality of the HDMI signal pass through (poor picture quality). I used to run straight to my TV from PS3 and the DTV box. I now run both through the Sony to the TV. The picture is just not the same, close, but not the same. I'm still undecided if I can live with it but that is the ONLY issue. Hope this helps.

Best one to me
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tried the Denon 950 and 650 as well and the Sony just sounded the best to my ears for movies, gaming and music. And it was easy to set up and use. So I returned the other 2 and I love the Sony so far. I did tweet it a bit to make it sound like I wanted (versus just going w/ the auto calibration) but this one was the easiest of the 3 to adjust manually to me as well.

Would have given it a 5 Star, but
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had the Geek Squad install this, and a Blu Ray player. Tried to use the Blu Ray player later, couldn't get it to work, the 1st tech didn't install it quite correctly. Called back, got his voicemail, which referred me to another tech, who came out 10 minutes before his quitting time ! Fixed the problem. Am going to call them back soon, 2 of my 6 speakers won't work !!! On the bright side, it does have great sound, and is easy to work

Great receiver
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally bought the model below this for apprx $350. It did a decent job but I returned it due to speaker hiss when volume set to around 30. The on screen display is a bit sluggish but easy set up and once set up it shouldn’t be a big deal. I like the sound quality - I don’t get the same speaker hiss on this receiver at all. I’m using banana clips to my Dcm KX series 2 tower 12” and matching center. Also running 2 down firing 12” subs - infiniti bu2 and Acoustic Audio PSW-12 500 Watt 12-Inch. I’m using 2 Fluance Signature HiFi 2-Way Bipolar Surround as rears and 2 Sony SSCSE Dolby Atmos Enabled speakers on top of the towers. I have an open plan living room with 9 foot ceilings and it’s not an option to put speakers in the ceiling. Tiled floor. My system is a bit of a mixed set up but I’m really happy with it. Movies sound great. Pass through/ picture to my Lg 82” tv is awesome. I run movies through Apple 4K tv and the family is happy on movie night. I keep the sound setting on Dolby and used the stereo microphone set up. I had to adjust the center up a couple of clicks and slight adjustments to the subs. I would recommend this receiver after using it for the past 30 days.

Clean sound
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The receiver produced clean sound. However, to me it seemed a little underpowered for a 5.2 setup with average 50 to 100 watt speakers. It could have been a setting but each time I used direct input, the sub sound would disappear and only the right/left speaker functioned. It does nicely integrate with other Sony products in appearance.

||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ordered this receiver to replace a previous purchase of this model that worked great. Unfortunately, it was damaged by a severe thunderstorm and was no longer usable. I quickly ordered this replacement. This is a wonderful piece of equipment and has MANY great features.
