I bought this compact unit primarily as an audio CD player. The front panel has only two buttons: Power On/Off and disc Eject/Load. All other functions require the remote (batteries included). There is no front panel display to indicate track position, etc. - only a green power status light. The onscreen CD interface indicates track numbers only - no artist, album title or track title info. And it seems to cut off the very start of audio tracks (e.g. if you advance to a track and press Play, about the first second of the track is not heard). This unit has no standard RCA outputs for sound. It only has HDMI out and Coaxial out, and therefore will not work for playing CDs on older receivers/amplifiers that only have RCA inputs. In addition to playing standard DVDs and Blu-Rays, it will also play Video CDs (aka VCDs), a media format rare in the USA. A more useful feature is the inclusion of "apps" such as Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, etc. that gives it basically the same functionality as set-top boxes such as Roku. One star deducted because of the audio CD peculiarities.

Being a Sony blue ray on that price, is a great acquisition. So far not a single problem. Very happy.

I purchased this as gift. I am actually excited about this BR Player as it has so many features with WIFI, What sold me on this over the competition is the WIFI, Apps, Playstation option, it's small, and it's Sony brand. I am confident that it won't explode or catch on fire like a Samsung brand might. =/

My old DVD player stopped working, so I picked up this one to replace it. I opted to buy this one instead of a 4k player because of the savings. For some reason I had a hard time getting the movie to show up on the TV screen the first time I used it, but I don't think it was because of the player. Once I disconnected the HDMI cable from both the DVD player and the TV, and then reconnected it, the movie worked fine. Overall, it works good so far.

So far the DVD player works great. It is very small and compact so it doesn't take up a lot of space.

Great Blu Ray player for the low price. Many good apps including Netflix, Hulu, etc. Remote is laid out nicely. Easy to use. I hooked this up, got all the apps set up, tested everything (Blu Ray, DVD, CD, plus apps) all in less than 30 minutes without ever reading the instructions. Very easy. Works great.

This DVD player does exactly what I expected it to do from a Sony brand. Excellent quality, great value.

I tend to geek out on Tech. This blue ray player caught my eye on a black friday deal. I like its compact size and it was easy to set up. It seems fast to play a disc and its smart function menu is easy as well. The remote is well laid out and also nice and compact in size. Thank you sony and best buy!

I purchased my first BluRay player back in 2008. I desperately needed a new one as my previous player of nearly 10 years was on its last legs. Not only is this unit even smaller to allow for more space among your electronics set up, it's also WIFI enabled, which is a major plus for me.

I bought this item looking for something to replace my PS3. The only thing I used the PS3 for was to view DVD's and for streaming. This unit does both and is about 1/4 the size. The hook up was real easy. Just plug in the HDMI cable and power cable and you're all set. It also changes the input on the TV.

Takes up no room Soon the remotes will be larger than the products. That being said, who needs large black objects sitting around? I can't believe this is as inexpensive as it is but I can't believe how inexpensive TVs have become. (Great TVs) If only the quality of the content were as good.

I’m real settisfied with the product and I can get my wi-if and watch my favorite movies in Netflix

I bought this player for the DVD and Blu-ray playing capabilities and not the streaming (we have a new smart Sony TV). This player does its job well, but isn't anything special. We find it to be really slow when we turn it on or ask it to do anything. Also, if you turn off the player in the middle of a movie and then turn it back on later, the movie starts over from the beginning. This is REALLY annoying and, between this and being slow, if I'd payed more than $50 for it I would have returned it. I kept it because it was cheap, it plays my movies just fine, and it integrates well with my Sony TV (I can use my TV remote to control it). I'm going to say "I recommend this to a friend" but only if you need a cheap solution like I did and you have a Sony TV with Bravia synch that will allow you to control it with the TV remote for ease of use.

I have a new piece of furniture that I am placing my electronics into in the bedroom of my home. The space I have in the new furniture was not large enough for an old dvd player that I had. I couldn't believe how small the new player was and all of the great features the DVD player has. Wow!

What can you say? It plays disks well! Easy to set up, not hard to understand, my moms could do it!

We needed a blue ray player for our downstairs TV and this one was a great fit. Excellent quality!

This streaming Wi-Fi and blue ray player is simple to set up and easy to use. Good value for the money.
