I was looking for a good quality record player for my component system and I have been very impressed with the sound and quality of this unit.

Great record player to start a collection. Just started to purchase some records and don't have a lot of room. Good value for the price.

Having fun listening to vylan again. But have not hooked it up to my computer. So no advice on that.

Buying a turntable was way more stress than I anticipated. I did lots of online research and expected to purchase an Audio-Technica. But when I looked at their more reasonably priced models in person, I wasn't super impressed. I asked for advice from the salespeople but they didn't make me feel much better. So I went to Best Buy hoping for more. I didn't find A-T when I went but instead this Sony. It looked more well-constructed, sleeker, and was a good price. The next problem was I didn't know what speakers to get. I had thought about Blue Tooth, but this didn't come with it. Fortunately, one of the salespeople was very knowledgable and helped me go through options (sorry I can't remember his name, but he was at the Albany Crossgates store). He showed me how to get the Sony turntable up and running when I got home (super simple but would've been a pain had he not shown me), and, even though this model is designed to go with a receiver, he found a set of computer speakers (Logitech Z323) that would work w/o a receiver because I wasn't ready for that kind of set up. If this sounds overwhelming, that's why I'm glad I went to Best Buy! I don't normally shop there preferring to do most things online, but I really am glad I went and talked to an actual person with expertise. I should add that I didn't feel pressured in any way to get a certain thing or spend more than I wanted to. I got useful information that helped me get what I wanted. I had spent weeks doing research and hours that day going from store to store (4 in total) and was about ready to call it quits. But after Best Buy, I walked out confident in my purchase, had no trouble getting everything working at home, I'm pleased with the price I paid, and I love having a record player again. It works like a charm. If I had the money, I might consider doing a receiver set up next time, as the speakers are good but sound less like the old time record player I remember (maybe not a bad thing). But all in all, I'm happy with the Sony turntable.

This is a great product, but it does not have speakers, so buy external speakers or sound bar.

Do you have a lot of vinyl record albums in the basement (cringe) but your turntable broke years ago? Here is your chance to get those record albums spinning again! Sony has been building quality turntables for a long time. This model is no exception. Simple built-drive technology keeps rumble away from the super-solid platter. Simple rubber cover. Built-in preamp. Clear signal sent through RCA cables. Auto starts and stop. Dust cover. Decent standard-use cartridge. The light-weight tone arm makes me a little sad, but then I remember this is a cost-effective way to add (or replace) a turntable to your home listening setup. Beyond that, Sony made standard the USB option, so you can plug this directly into your computer and start transferring that groovy analog vinyl sound to digital. I have zero complaints. At this price point, Sony has packed in enough and then some.

Very good product. Perfect for the person who just wants a solid record player with no frills. This product gets the job done!

This doesn't many bells or whistles, but if you are looking for a nice looking, functional turntable that will last, here it is.
