We are on our second pair and husband has significant hearing loss but these work wonderful. I can maintain a normal volume on the TV and he can adjust the headphones to his preference.

However, I found I use it for the same reason, to not bother her. Only thing is, the headset is big and not real comfortable while lying in bed. Otherwise it works perfect.

While shopping for another item I asked the Best Buy Representative to recommend something to enhance my hearing the TV. He recommended this item I am totally satisfied.
