Nintendo knocked it out of the park here. Sure, it isn't the original hardware, and there isn't any cartridge slot, but everything about this unit feels "right". The controllers are solid, the console is tiny, but looks like the hardware I grew up with.

This thing contains a time portal to my childhood in the nineties, and i couldn't be happier. The games look perfect and play beautifully. The hardware seems well made and designed perfectly. Set up a cinch. This thing rules.

The SNES classic is a must for fan of the older game system. Good for anyone looking for a blast from the past. Or new comers wishing to test old games out. The system is a nice small size, could fit in a teenagers hand. But on it comes with 20 preinstalled games and they are all accessed through a menu. No need for cartridges. Because the system doesn't have a slot anyways. But the games on the system are classics such as Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario World, and Super Mario Kart. All on 1 system. Plus you're given 2 controllers. So you can enjoy these games with friends. Also if you're familiar with emulation. You're given the option to save at the exact point you left off and you're able to continue as if you never left. So the time for playing till the save point is no more. For the price it may seem a bit much. But if you price the actual SNES, plus the price for the games separately. It ends up being more. Also, you'll have to see if the 20 year old console even works. Making this a convenience, and it has HDMI so it can play very well on modern TVs. So that's also another plus because the original SNES comes with the yellow and white plugs. Making the picture look very washed out on modern TVs. So convenience sake. I'd say pick this up rather than hunt an peck all over the Internet for these games.

A Wonderful Retro Throwback

I camped out the morning of the systems release, I did not want the same mistake I made with the NES classic to repeat itself (I Still don't have one).
I got the system home and it is an adorable little thing, and I was happy to get it hooked up, it's as easy as ever, only a AC Plug and an HDMI Cord.
The interface on the console is beautiful, lots of details and options. My favorite part is if you leave the console without touching anything it will start to play demos of the games, and show replays from your save states.
The games all run wonderful, and the controller feels fantastic, This is an absolute treat for all gamers young and old. Nintendo has definitely had this a lot more readily available now, but it is still hard to get due to people buying more than they actually need. If you can get your hands on one do so, you won't regret it!

One year after Nintendo surprised everyone with the NES Classic Mini, the company has again returned to its retro roots with the SNES iteration. Every bit as lovingly designed as its predecessor, the palm-sized device is packed with almost every one of the best games produced for the system, and includes the bonus addition of the never previously released Star Fox 2. And with two controllers included in the box, complete with longer controller cables, the device is much more functionally complete out of the box to boot. With the SNES Classic Mini, Nintendo has really hit its retro console stride.

I don’t want to hit on the nostalgia part of this mini console because everyone else already has. It has great games and comes with 2 controllers. There are plenty of games for all players of all ages, and some can even be played cooperatively.
Don’t like the cord length from the baby console? Make sure to buy the Insignia 6 foot dual pack controller adapter.
This baby also uses an HDMI cable, so before you discount the “graphics” keep in mind it wasn’t made for the current generation. It is still beautiful and can plug and play with most new laptops and current TVs.

The SNES Classic Mini is well worth the price tag - even more-so than its NES contemporary. Thank goodness Nintendo is stocking these better than its predecessor. Buy this little console and you won't be disappointed. If you were to buy an original SNES and each game individually on a cartridge, you could end up with a bill in the thousands. This gets you those same great games with authentic-feeling controllers, in HD!

The SNES Classic is a great little palm-sized nugget of nostalgia. It's got most of the best games from that console, it comes in a neat box that reminds you of its era, and it comes with two controllers. Mario Kart plays so smoothly!
Can you make an emulator box that supports many more games? Maybe. But there's no way it'd be this easy or those smooth.

This by far is one of the best Emulators out there. i say that due to the fact that you can add more games in the future.... great games in the original 8 bit form. I love the fact that you can save anywhere you like while in a game. Great size and portability. it literally will fit in your pocket for travel use.

Finally got one! What was originally planned as a Christmas gift for my son became an early present for the family. We all can't wait unboxing it. This mini console is so light but packs a heavy punch. Great collection of games. Kids will surely enjoy playing these games for the first time while moms and dads will get nostalgic playing the games all over again.

My BestBuy Experience Getting One

So the SNES Classic is very cute and has a good selection of games on the system. Really though there needs to be a virtual console for switch. Anyways I'm going to be reviewing not really the console which has few faults (no way to reset/go to the game library from the controller, controller cable still too short) , but the my experience getting one at Best Buy. In short as long as you went to best buy in the morning you got one. I got to my Bestbuy at 9:52 where there was already a short line for the 10 am opening and received #52 ticket. Once the store opened we all went to the cashier to get and purchase our corresponding numbered SNES. They also had accessories right there if you wanted to purchase them as well. It wasn't a long wait since they had all 4 cashiers opened. From what I could tell they had at around 75, no more than 100. In comparison the Gamestop in the same shopping center had 17. This was a quick and happy experience getting this sold out system.

Whether you grew up with an SNES or you just want to see what all the hype is about, this system is the perfect way to play these games. The games included range from great to excellent, with most considered to be masterpieces. Star Fox 2 is a lot of fun if you can get past the primitive graphics and is a nice little addition to the console. A poster is also included displaying a few of the included titles. The hardware itself does have a few flaws however. Having to flip down the front panel to connect controllers is less than ideal. The controller cables should be at least 3 ft longer. Another thing that is kind of annoying is not being able to return to the menu without hitting the reset button. One final issue is that there is a very slight amount of lag introduced compared to the original console, which can be slightly annoying but is not game breaking. Overall this system is worth it for the games alone and I highly recommend.

What is not to love! Small, compact and easy hook up.
Fired right up and took me back to my childhood.
No loading, installing or updating.
All the classic games are here and a new starfox 2! It was fun trying to remember all the secret passages on games.

the system and controllers look and feel just like the original. What is amazing is that the system is super tiny it can fit into the palm of your hands. The system has a hdmi output and comes with everything you need to just power it on and start playing. The one thing i love about Nintendo is that its easy and you can just turn on your game and start playing without any updates. The console can be modded and you can add a LOT more games. Very nice for the price. Add a wireless controller and a few more games and this thing just paid dividends.
