The SNES is probably the most well known console amongst today's gamers judging by the demographics majority. Children who grew up in the 90's now makeup the vast majority of today's gamers, so the Mini SNES was a perfect system for Nintendo to bring back. So many great titles represented here, and a different genre for every kind of player. I am surprised Nintendo priced it this low actually since most people would for sure buy a mini SNES for nostalgia alone. The excellent games that come with it are a bonus!!! This is a perfect way to re experience some of the past glories, and also a great way of showing today's little ones what we grew up with, and experience these great games together. A major hit by Nintendo in my opinion, and definitely worth a purchase.

I was old enough to have the Orginal SNES when it first came out, and I have to say, it defined my childhood and early teens. So when I heard they were re-releasing the system I kinda went ‘meh’ because I had played most of the games as a pimply faced frustrated teen who was high and might on the ‘been there done that’ train. And I have a Raspberry Pi with every classic console game in existence, so no need for dis ting.
On a whim I picked one up and my excitement level went from ‘yeah the sunset is cool but it happens everyday’ to ‘Oh there are still strawberry Starburst in the candy bowl’. Got home, plugged it in, and two very vivid childhood memories flooded back and smacked me in my smug face. First, Street Fighter is still hard as heck to play on SNES with shoulder buttons. Two, lying on the floor within a few feet of my tv because wired controllers.
All that aside, once I played Kirby, Super MARIO World, and Secret of Mana with the SNES controller you immediately see why this was one of the best gaming systems ever. Being in second place in MARIO kart and using the shoulder button to drift around the first place person, the circle layout in Secret of Mana and how intuitive the SNES controller is to the experience. If for nothing but one of these just to see how perfectly mapped and preside a SNES controller made by Nintendo is. Emulating these games and using an Xbox or PS4 controller on a PC just does not feel as sharp, easy, and fluid.
I know these are impossible to find, but no tendo dis say they would release more next summer.
P.S. went back to Best Buy the next day to get the insignia extension cables. I’m not as young as I used to be so laying on the hard wood floors staring up at a huge screen doesn’t do it for me or my spine.

Well worth the money spent on it, as you're getting 20 super classic games and 1 unreleased game. I have included how long it takes to beat each game below to emphasize how much gameplay you're getting out of this $80 machine.
GAME TITLE // (Quickplay Hours) to (Completionist Hours)
Contra 3: The Alien Wars // 1.5 to 2
Donkey Kong Country // 4 to 6.5
EarthBound // 28 to 34.5
Final Fantasy 3 // 29.5 to 52
F-Zero // 3.5 to 4
Kirby Super Star // 3.5 to 9
Kirby's Dream Course // 2.5 to 7.5
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past // 15.5 to 18
Mega Man X // 3.5 to 4
Secret of Mana // 22 to 37.5
Star Fox // 1.5 to 3
Star Fox 2 // 1 to 2
Street Fighter 2 Turbo: Hyper Fighting // 2 to 13
Super Castlevania 4 // 4 to 6
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts // 6 to 6.5
Super Mario Kart // 2.5 to 20.5
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars // 16 to 22.5
Super Mario World // 5.5 to 10.5
Super Metroid // 7.5 to 8.5
Super Punch-Out!! // 3 to 17
Yoshi's Island // 8 to 16
So if you were to play every single game included on this system, it would take you between 170+ hours (if you are a minimalist trying to do the bare essential story mode) to 300+ hours (if you are a completionist).
I'll let you decide if that's worth it for you.

Nintendo has made a lot of strange decisions over the years, so I wasn't sure how well this concept would be implemented, but they knocked it out of the park. It's super quick to set up and get started, and the games themselves (the ones I've played, anyway) are fantastic (made even better by the more flexible saving options). The hardware is nice, too — it's a tiny, portable form factor that can be powered by USB, so you don't even have to hunt down a free outlet (if your TV has a powered USB port). The only minor complaint I have is that the controller cords are too short, but I figure that just makes the experience that much more authentic, and you can buy third party extensions fairly cheaply.

An improvement over NES Classic

I’m enjoying this much more than the NES Classic. A much better selection of games with few to no duds, seemingly better emulation, and a new “rewind” feature that lets you literally rewind your gameplay up to 5 minutes. My only complaints are the controller cables are still too short for my living room, and having to get up to go back to the main menu is a hassle. Still an incredible value for a bunch of classic games, many of which stops the test of time (25+ years!)

Another worthy trip down memory lane

Although the game list is considerably shorter than the NES classic, the 16-bit mini comes with an extra controller so you're off to the races right out of the box. The menus are well done and the save/rewind features are great luxuries not afforded to us in the old days. I do think the controllers are -just like the NES classic- a little light weight compared to the originals, but maybe I'm being picky.
Personally I had to go for an EU model as that's what I had growing up. The design of the North American SNES was just dreadful.

I'm a Nintendo kid so this was a must buy for me. The console comes with some solid single and multiplayer games that still hold up well more than twenty years since I played most of them. Rewinding gameplay is a nice feature for the games that can be frustratingly hard. I bought cord extenders for my SNES classic but they aren't necessary like they were for the NES classic. I am actually using my Wii pro controller because it had the home button so I can jump from game to game without having to push the button directly on the console... But the SNES controllers feel so good in my hands.
If you love 16-bit games this is a no brainier purchase.

Overall this mini system is a great call back to all of the classic games that were originally released on this system and i'm having a joy playing though this gaming system that was one of the missed Nintendo home console systems that I didn't play. I will say it is not the easiest system to get due to high demand but I recommend you stay on top of when preorders release and I recommend checking the site "Now in Stock" or following certain twitter accounts such as @Nintendeal @AmiiboNews. though those I was able to secure one. Overall an amazing system and good luck if you're in the search for one.

I was lucky enough to pick one of these up at my local store, and it brings back all the fond memories of my childhood. Wish Nintendo would have included Chrono Trigger, but all my other favorites are included. My only real complaints is the extremely short cords on the controllers and there is no way to change game without hitting the reset button on the console. The cord issue is remedied via extension cables (also sold at Best Buy for $9.99 for a 2-pack), but I have not found a solution that would allow me to swap games from the comfort of the couch.

I have got to say that this system is definitely a blast from the past! I am getting close to my 30's and I remember playing this system with my Grandfather growing up (as well as the other systems but that is besides the point.) This has a good range of popular games so it is a good deal for the price. I wish that this system was able to read the old cartridges as well but I know that probably would have made it more expensive. Overall this is was a much needed system for my house since I wasn't able to get the regular NES classic.

Looks just like the original but much smaller. This one plugs in with a HDMI cable. It has several of the good original games on it. The controllers are the same as the original but the plug is like the one on a Wii. It is probably better than the original because it has quite a few games on it and will plug in easily into a modern tv.

I can't gush about this thing enough. Firstly, just to get it out of the way, the only negative I have to say is that the controller cords are a bit short (5-6 feet only). Nothing over the top like the 3 feet NES Classic ones, but nevertheless I just wanted to mention it. There are extenders and better yet, wireless controllers out there though. Should be no problem.
Now into the meat and potatoes...the games. Wow! What a selection. Some of the greatest games of all time! Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Super Mario World, Earthbound, DKC, SF2, Super Castlevania IV, Starfox, FFIII (or VI if you know your stuff)...even Super Mario RPG! 20 amazing games...I mean 21 since it includes the never before released Starfox 2! Not a legendary game or anything, but it's a pleasant addition. The Wii virtual console sold these for $8 a piece, so for 21 games that $168 for only $80. And unlike the NES Classic...these are much bigger games. Between Mario RPG, Earthbound and FFIII alone you can put in an easy 100-150 hours. Easily the best retro console to ever exist. A MUST BUY!

Since I've gotten it I have enjoyed most of the games in the system. Even though I've never had an snes my self. This gives me a chance to go back and play some of the best classic games. In addition it's really small and light plus it comes with two controls for the 2 player games. As well as 4 slots per game to save progress. It's really useful if more than one person is playing on the same system. And finally the rewind function for the not so great moments were you mess up, its a huge time saver.

The fact that the SNES Classic Edition includes a quintessential collection of 20 classic games with spot-on controls and the ability to save all your progress, makes this a must have.
The games alone is reason enough to purchase the system, but the ability to save anytime (5 slots) for each game is astonishing.
As a bonus, all of this gaming glory is packed tightly into an extremely small and mind blowingly light package, that fits the palm of your hand.

OK, so it's the old SNES graphics blown up on my 50 inch LED, but it all still looks pretty good and plays very well. Great selection of games to keep the whole family entertained for hours. I am disappointed (for others) that Nintendo seems not to be following through with its promise to release additional units, but perhaps that's still coming for Christmas. FYI, I had never lined up for a new release of anything, but I'm glad I lined up for the SNES Classic!

The SNES Classic has a great set of games that run beautifully! The Super FX games that haven't been re-released before run great, and the newly released Star Fox 2 is a seriously awesome game. The controllers feel great, and it's nice to see the cord length increased from the NES Classic's (though it's still too short). The unit itself looks great, and the bonus features like border frames, filters, and save states are nice bonuses! Would highly recommend!
