When I first started watching this, I asked myself: Is this VHS tape?? Parts of this movie is extremely poor in quality. Once the interactions with the main people come in, the quality improved. I would label this 'partial 4K movie.'

This is a great movie but I'm just reviewing the quality of the picture on this 4K disc. I was expecting a pretty good transfer from film to 4K, but that did not happen. I think the Blu Ray may have a better picture than this 4K. Very poor picture quality and just average sound.

The blu-ray provided excellent sound and picture quality.
A teenager and his mom move to California and the teenage boy meets a girl he really likes. The girl has a jealous ex-boyfriend who takes karate lessons from a mean bullying instructor. The ex-boyfriend and his friends beat the Kid up and he is saved by the apartments handyman, Mr. Miyagi. Mr. Miyagi is a karate master from Okinawa and agrees to teach the Kid karate. The Karate Kid and the ex-boyfriend enter a large Karate Tournament and may the best style win.

This film has sentimental value to me. I grew up with it, on it and emulated these teachings within throughout my youth. And now it's on 4K disc and coupled with the $10 Black Friday price last year it's a GREAT VALUE. The iconic 80's film never looked and sounded so good! It's a "cruel summer" indeed! It's nowhere near as flashy as a modern day release is on the 4K format, but you can't deny how great it looks for its age.

The Blu-Ray provided an excellent picture and sound. This movie is one of my favorites and my son's favorites. We saw it on the movie screen when he was six years old and he loved it. He was taking Karate lessons at the time and he started working harder after seeing this movie. The movie itself is entertaining and provides some excellent life lessons. One of the very best movies of the 80's.

We've all seen the movie. It's over 30 years old and is a classic of my youth! The plot, in a nutshell, is a teen moves from the East Coast to the West Coast and gets bullied until he learns karate. Bought this for the cool looking steelbook. If the artwork weren't awesome, I wouldn't have purchased it. Basically if you love the Karate Kid and think this steelbook looks awesome, pick it up. You won't be disappointed.

First saw it in theaters when I was 9 or 10. Mom kept covering her eyes, I couldn't rake my eyes off the screen. Bullied kid is taught how to defend himself and learns life lessons from an unlikely mentor. In the end he gets the girl, and gains respect from those who had bullied him. Now watch it in 4k clarity!

A classic movie receives the respect it deserves with a fantastic release from Sony. While it doesn't include a remastered Blu-ray, the 4K restoration is better in every way. As a native 4K release, this one actually provides a noticeably better presentation and I'm very happy with the results.

Too difficult to pass on this classic movie with original artwork from Gallery 1988 highlighting the Cobra Kai, an excellent concept choice for cover art which bumps Daniel son...this steelbook is a Best Buy Exclusive! (1 of 16 Blu-ray steelbooks)...It's a must have for any movie collector!

One of the best 1980s movies looks brand new in 4K. This is a less obvious pick to show off your home theater setup! The only issue I have, like with most 4K blu-rays, is that the majority of bonus features are only on the 1080p HD disc instead of the 4K UHD disc.
