Almost verything about it is awesome.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start of by talking about things other than the movie. The discs are high quality and there is an abundance of extras, such as interviews, etc. Even the box is fancy and well made out of sturdy materials. The movie uses some of the best books ever written as source material and everything that went into the movie was to notch from the acting to the cinematography. Also, because these are the extended versions, there is hours of footage that was not seen in the theaters.

Some of the greatest movies of all time
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.LotR is timeless. Some of the CGI doesn't totally hold up these days. That's about the only bad thing I can say about the films themselves. I also wish they could have put all the special features onto a few blu-rays instead of spread across nine dvds for this collection. Other than that this set is beautiful. The theatrical movies are near perfect but the extended versions are, to me, even better. Most of the special features are interesting and there are obviously tons here. The packaging is also very nice.

Better than the 4K
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No digital copy but overall very satisfied with the quality. I have seen videos of the 4K version and found it looks very animated and doesn’t look nearly as good as the Blue-ray. While this is not always the case I would recommend the Blue-ray version over the 4K for this title.

Grateful for the team you have
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. They were so helpful. As I told them what had happened to our laptops (2) they explained what they could do to fix it. My husband was also having a problem with his cell phone. There were two guys helping us, one helping me with the laptops and the other helping my husband. We're not good with electronics. It's so comforting at the geek squad they are always so understanding. It makes it so you want to go to them for help. Thanks for the great team.

An excellent Trilogy in and excellent format
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What's there to say about this movie that has not been said before? As for the Blu-Ray box set of the Extended Edituons of these films, this is a most excelllent purchase. Inside the decorative Trilogy box are three plastic clamshell cases per move, each containing 5 disks. The first two are the extended movie (which is slightly annoying having a movie split between two disks, but i suppose they didn't want you sitting for a million hours without getting up. This is a loooong movie. Its a good movie, but its long. As for the other three disks, do bother going to college to learn the art of film making. These disks will tell you every single part of how these films were realized, and save you a boatload of student debt. Do you want to know about Frodo's feet? You will learn. Want to learn about Orlando's wig? Boom! You are going hear about it. Want to hear about how cool Christopher Lee is? To bad, you should already know how cool he was. Anyway. It's a good purchase, so what are you waiting for... start this journey on Blu-ray.

Great transfer and a great deal
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Watching this set was actually my first time watching the trilogy. The Blu-ray transfer is great. Very sharp and details with an excellent audio track. The only downsides is the special features are all on DVDs instead of Blu-ray discs and that it's not a 4K UHD Blu-ray set (Fingers crossed that will change soon), but it's the best you can get for the time being.

Ultimate LOTR
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best version of the extended edition trilogy I can currently buy (I don’t have a 4K tv yet). I searched forever before finding this set. The standard theatrical editions can be found anywhere. I will most likely buy the extended edition Hobbit trilogy later as well. I will suggest putting the disks in another case as the plastic spindles break easily. Overall a great edition to my collection and I display the big case.

Hopeful purchase
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We picked up this product in the hopes that it would make communication with older relatives easier. With Covid making all relationships more difficult we wanted to eliminate the problem of setting up zoom calls and talking face-to-face. Although this product is brand new we are hoping it makes things just a little simpler. We found the sound and picture quality's surprisingly good considering the size and cost of the product.

Great Trilogy and most complete version!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This collection is the ultimate version of one of the greatest trilogies of all time. The extended edition of each movie. And tons of special behind the scene stuff. The only downside I can think of in this collection is that all the bonus stuff are only dvd's. Given the main movies are on blurays.

Good purchase - Great movie series
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We had the original Extended Editions of Lord of the Rings on DVD, but they were borrowed from a friend. So we bought this after browsing and seeing what options were out there. I got this from Best Buy rather than Amazon because I generally have better quality stuff from Best Buy when it comes to movies and TV shows. I really enjoy these movies, and I'm also reading the books.

An epic movie!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would like to say that the extended edition is by far the best way to watch this movie in particular. Middle Earth is huge and dynamic, and to get the most out of it is to watch the extended edition. The picture and sound quality are amazing. I highly recommend this movie for fans out there. It really does feel like Middle Earth. The box on mine was a bit worn, but there is a map inside the boxing, which I think is pretty cool. This is a must have!

Great Movie! Wrong Format!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I already had an Online copy of Lord of the Rings Extended version but it ate too much of my allotted download to view. So I decided to get the the physical disc at Best Buy. On the back of the boxed set, I saw the word "DVD" so I bought it. Turned out only the supplemental material was on DVDs. The movies were Blu-Ray, which my computer can't play. That being said, if you're a LOTR fan, you MUST see the extended version! It brings back a lot of the Tolkien plots omitted in the original movies and fleshes out all the characters. BUY IT!

Fantastic to See these on Blu-Ray!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I owned the DVD set of these, which before the Hobbit movies released were very hard to find. I'm very excited to finally own the Extended editions in BDHD. The content is more or less the same, so any review of the extended LotR movies will clue you in. I will say that the extended edition is the ONLY way to watch the LotR trilogy. The theatrical version removed a lot of important and worldbuilding scenes, especially ones surrounding Gimli and Legolas. If you want the best LotR experience, you have to go Extended.

Great to watch when you've got a bunch of time
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The extended edition is the way to go. I do wish they had a set with just the movies since I'm not interested in the documentaries. But the group willing to watch the extended version is probably heavily overlapped with the group that is willing to watch a few documentaries on the making of the movie! So good if you're either or both interested in the extended version and the behind-the-scenes.

Enjoyable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love listening to the cast and hear what they have to say about their time making the film.

Excellent set
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What's not to love? The original films with added material, in HD, and with hours of supplementary materials - so much that I doubt I will ever be able to watch all of it. I wanted this set because I have the Extended Edition DVDs in standard version, with less extra material, and wanted the improved image quality. That alone was well worth the investment, if you love the sweeping epic that Peter Jackson created. All the rest is just bonus.

Nerdy Must Have
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What can I say? if you're a nerd you gotta have this. I love how its set up in the case. Its not bulky on my dvd case. They have them staggered inside, so its not a huge box. As for the content, its exactly what you expect, it has the behind the scenes of the actors, its got the jack black parody, its got it all. If you love LotR, you just need to have an extended edition.

The set to get if you like these films
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are a fan of Lord of the Rings, this is by far *the* set to get. I can't imagine streaming epic "big" films such as these, and blu-ray is simply the way to go. This set has so many extras, it'll keep fans entertained for a long time. The set comes in a beautiful box, that looks great on your bookshelf (and you can get the matching "The Hobbit" set as well). NOTE that the feature films are on two blu-ray discs each (total of 6) and the extras are on DVD (9 of them).
