It was to be set up for Comcast, I assumed it was going to have all the correct input jacks, etc.

Had Optimum Online for years and used the same DOCSIS 3.0 modem (surfboard) and I switched to this modem from TP-Link a few days ago. No issues and getting the same exact speeds.
** Note that if you cannot get it to connect when you first turn it on, press the reset button for 15 seconds to reset it and it should connect with no issues. Had this "issue" when trying to connect to Cablevision/Optimum and eventually got online after speaking with TP Link. Hope this helps someone out there! **

Replaced Comcast modem after renting for way too long. It took 5 minutes to unpack, attach everything necessary, and logon to Comcast website provided in packaging to get up and running. $10 a month I will no longer be paying to Comcast.

Compatibility with Wave Broadband was my primary concern. I emailed Best Buy, they assured me it would, and it does.
Setup is easy:
1) Connect to cable
2) Connect to router
3) Connect to power
4) Let it stabilize for 15 minutes.
5) Call your ISP to activate. They'll need the MAC number on the bottom of the modem.
6) Done.
Works great, and it saves me $10/month on my ISP bill.

Within 7 months this unit pays for itself

I gave this to my friend to test because he has complained several times for paying $8 a month for renting their modem plus I’ve known him all my life and he works in IT for one of the largest money market firms in the world.
He said he could pull 30+mbps off this modem on all his tests. He also said that this model is significantly smaller and less of a footprint than the model Time Warner supplied him.
In short he said it preformed as it should and he loves it. He thanked me very much for saving him a lot of money.
Within 7 months, this unit will not only pay for itself but it will put money back in your wallet.
TP-Link also offers 24hr customer support and they team is knowledgeable (I’ve called a couple times and asked some tough questions).

Not a wireless router

Honestly, after reading the reviews on how simple this was to install, I thought I'd give it a shot at my new place. However, I JUST realized this is NOT a wireless modem/router. So, now I have to go through the process of finding a wireless router to go with the modem. Guess that was my fault for not understanding how these things work. I'm not tech-savvy, and had no clue.
On the flip side, this works great plugged into my laptop, but I can't use my Roku, my XBox Live account, or my tablet.
