I have been eyeing this for a long time since I do a lot of cooking--the sale price made it an easier choice. I have used it several times and the food waste is broken down and easy to deposit directly to my garden. the only downside I see right now is that the amount you are able to put into the device each time you run it. If you cook a lot, you will still need a compost container for your counter. I am waiting to see how often the carbon filters have to be replaced as that could get expensive.

I would buy this again and again. It really helps with the composting process. There's no smell after it's composted, it breaks down food well, it helps out the garden great!

This is a great product. Sturdily-built, thoughtfully-designed. Outdoor composting has its place, but is slow. I'm thrilled to be able to turn kitchen scraps, wilted flowers and some house plant trimmings into very nice compost within hours. I use some of my kitchen compost for indoor plant soil mix, saving most in for use next planting season. Have not had any unpleasant odor; I keep the unit, which is rather heavy, on the floor, next to a kitchen island. While the bucket (that fits into the unit for processing) is being filled, it sits on the counter. There are two bucket covers--one for when the bucket is being used to gather scraps; one for when the processor is in use.) It helps to pre-chop tough items like some herb stems, so they work with the system; the grinding capability is very good but has its limits. Usually, the compost is easy to pour from the bucket, no need for clean-up. (Too many onions at once, as when a bag full sprouted in the pantry, yielded a slightly sticky result; fortunately this appliance's bucket is dishwasher-proof.) The user manual is very clear and detailed.

It's easy to setup and use. It's a little pricey but it works as designed. I like that all you have to do is put the pail in the machine, close the top, and push a button to start it. I have used it for about a month now and it has worked great, turning food waste into compost!

This works well but I mainly dehydrates and then pulverizes your food. I wouldn't put it directly into houseplants but it makes it so small and then I go ahead and dump into my outside plant pots. Since we have a small yard and apartment this is perfect to help with compostable waste!

We started a garden, and found this appliance to use to help speed up our composting. We are so happy with how easy it is to use, as well as how well it works. This is a must have for anyone interested in composting. Hands down, 5 stars

I am such a recycle nerd. I was trying to get away from our outside compost bin and this is the perfect solution. I have had it about a month and a half now and just love it! My husband and kids make fun of me because I am obsessed with using it. I have tested out all kinds of things - the generic fruits and veggies watermelon rind, corn cobs, chicken bones. (I did cut the rind and cobs into smaller chunks.) If it isn't overloaded, it will literally turn your scraps into dirt. Yes, compost the consistency of dirt overnight. It is crazy. Things it doesn't like cream cheese, popcorn kernels, and fried chicken skin. But if I happen to overload it with too much fresh stuff, I just leave the compost in the machine and add more stuff and run it again. Odd thing, banana peels come out very stringy, who knew. So if a batch doesn't have the dirt-like texture I want, a quick whirl in the blender generally does the trick. It is amazing how much compost I have already created with just everyday food scraps. Would highly recommend!

I don't know how come I have never though about reprocessing my food water to make my own fertilizer. This machine is a champ that turns every kitchen food waste into a useful fertilizer. You save money and the planet by not buying fertilizer as well as you save the planet by minimizing green house gas emission from the food waste if you trash it saving poor planet that deserves a little help for giving us so much more.

So far so good. We use it almost every day, it has reduced our food waste almost to none as we are predominately vegan household. No issues with bugs as long as you keep a lid on the container. We keep the cycler itself in the garage as otherwise it is a large machine and takes up quite a bit of counter space.

Vitamix recycler makes composting fast and easy

The Vitamix food recycler is really amazing. Instead of having a large messy receptacle taking up space in the backyard, this little guy can turn food scraps into usable compost in a few hours. Much quieter than I was led to believe by some reviewers. You don't even notice it working. Only problem is with the Vitamix site. You try to register the product and it gives you the error message "invalid serial number". Called the help desk and they were aware of this but had no idea when (or if) it would be fixed.

This product is EXCEPTIONAL. We cook extensively at home, so most of our waste was food waste. We couldn't justify continuing with it, so we researched and decided on the Vitamix. The machine works extremely well and can process gallons of food waste over a week. It could not be easier to use, and does not take up a substantial amount of counter space (but could even be placed in a basement or other room). Highly, highly recommend this product.

This is our second FoodCycler, the first was purchased 10 years ago prior to Vitamin buying the original company. Our FoodCycler is great for taking care of all of our food waste. The garbage can is no longer stinky and messy plus we get a nutrient-rich residue to mix into our garden beds.

I bought this to supplement my vermicomposting. I put all my veggies and greens in the composting bin and everything else goes in the FoodCycler. I tried feeing the finished product to my worms, but as of now, they are not interested. So, I put it all in a bucket which I will mix with my compost and soil for my plants. I have put everything from cereal to a Cornish Hen in the FoodCycler and they generally come out looking like compost. I have noticed, and the directions say not to, putting in too much fruit makes an end product that resembles brownie mix.

This composter is fantastic. The compost is ready for use with no smell or cleanup of the unit. I read reviews saying it was noisy but it is only in the grind cycle and only if you don’t cut up big pieces first. I have tried multiple outdoor composters none of which worked well but this is so easy and efficient.

Pleasantly surprised on how well this works!!!! It does run for a few hours, but dehydrates food waste into a compost-like manner. I find that it is best if you mix different types of veg/fruit waste, otherwise it does tend to dry some stuff out too much, which makes it stick to the sides. But overall, I am happy. Bought in cold weather, so I haven't had a chance to mix it into the dirt in my garden yet. I am trying to lessen my "garbage", and this does definitely help!!! We don't have food scrap recycle/pick-up in our area. A bit pricey, but it is a good brand name, so I hope it lasts!!!

love this composter for indoor use! No smell and so easy to use. Do have to be careful to clean it well between uses as hidden compost under blades can cause it to jam it not cleaned out. Bought one for my parents as well and they love it too.
