Good value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I decided to upgrade from my LG 2.1 to this Vizio 5.1 The good is it has great sound, rear satellites are nice and overall a tremendous upgrade from the LG. The remote sucks. I downloaded the app which is much better. The bad: The lip sync while watching people talk goes out of sync to many times. I used the sync control which is under Volume on the app to adjust. It works fine for a while but changing channels it goes out of sync again.

Turns off

Basically just to get to the extra months of free financing, we should of left it in the store. The Bluetooth has never worked, and I have tried every way to hook it up. HDMI, optical nothing works correctly. I have spent hours in the phone and on chat with customer service, resetting, hard resets and told over and over this is not normal. It will randomly shut off after about two hours even though I think I eco mode is off. That is hard to tell because the remote and sound bar display are useless. In order to know what they mean you have to have the dot guide. The sound and voices do not sync up and is getting progressively worse. The phone app is also no help so don’t even bother downloading it. Luckily it has stopped randomly turning on at high volume in the middle of the night. I wish I could return this piece of junk.

Amazing

Very easy install and satellite speakers put out good sound. Sub hits just enough. I was very hesitant at first but would definitely purchase again.

Although for some reason the speaker would just randomly turn off when it likes and the chromecasting and connection itself, is just terrible, constantly getting disconnected from spotify and the vizio app itself as I connect it with my phone which results in a endless loop for the sound bar lights blinking as if its looking for a connection until I turn it on and off to get it to work properly again.

Not a big fan...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a smaller 5.1 sound bar and decided to go with the Vizio. I've had other older Vizio 5.1 sound bars in the past and was very happy with them but I just had a hard time liking this one. The speakers in the bar seemed to be turned for a lot of treble and mid which seems like a good idea for clarity but after really listening to it I noticed with some of the highs in music or scenes in movies where glass was shattering that the speakers seemed to crackle a little bit almost like there was too much treble for them to handle. I turned the treble way down to -4 but I still noticed it a little bit. Another thing I found annoying was the settings for bass and subwoofer. The bass setting seemed to control the bass from the bar itself and the subwoofer. And the subwoofer setting controlled the subwoofer but only if the bass setting was up to at least -3. My old s5451w and s3851w had the same settings but bass controlled the bass from the bar only and subwoofer controlled the bass from the subwoofer only. I wasn't real pleased with the smartcast either because it never worked half the time. It did sound decent and had surround sound which is nice for the price range but the crackly highs and the weird settings made me return it for a refund.

Doesn’t even last a year

As of the last 2 months this soundbar has become so awful! It comes with a basic remote that provides the bare minimum in order to control the settings of the soundbar. There’s an option to download an app to adjust the settings in depth and even the app doesn’t connect well with the Soundbar. After 4 months, the lip sync is off even after resetting the system. At times it also chops the sound and makes it crackle. I had to call vizio 3 times only for them to send me a refurbished one, which I am not holding my breath about. I’m assuming the majority of good reviews on here were written within the first few months of purchase. I wish I could’ve gotten the correct and accurate review of this product and would’ve went with a different brand.

Vizio soundbar

The soundbar i hve had for about a year now it was very difficult to connect via Bluetooth and difficult to connect to wifi after several attempts i finally got the issue taking care of. It occasionally turns off then i hve to turn it back on if u turn eco mode off and turn ur tv off the soundbar will turn off then later turn back without u turning on i hve this hooked up to hdmi arc on back of my tv so when i turn my tv on the soundbar comes on. sometimes the whn i turn my tv on the soundbar will turn on so then i hve to unplug the soundbar and then plug it bck up this has started happening frequently i even reset the soundbar and it still happens. Then sometimes ill be watching tv and turn up the volume and the soundbar will freeze up and wont do nothing so then i hve to unplug it and the plug it bck up. I was looking forward to upgrading to a bigger and better soundbar system but not for sure ill be going bck with vizio.

Sound not clear, difficult to pair to iphone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have some difficulty to pair it to iPhone 7, it took several attempted before iPhone can connect to sound bar with Smart Cast app. Pros : nice looking set, Cons : Usb only use Wav audio, can not run MP3 so Usb is useless. Sound not clear from sound bar, not good for music listening Subwoofer volume turn to Max to hear some bass. Phone connect to sound bar not easy.

don't power on after a year
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I see many people complain about the same issue. The soundbar stopped working after 1.5 years. Conveniently beyond the warranty timeframe. There is no support on Vizio page other than "try a different power outlet" ! It was a mistake purchasing this junk to save couple bucks. To be fair, it was doing its job while it was working. However, I also have a Vizio TV that decides to power on and off at its will, and it seems like a consistent issue for Vizio. I will certainly never purchase a Vizio product again.

The soundbar has never worked properly after the intiial setup it started losing connectivity ALL THE TIME to the point I gave up and just started using the TV speakers. After extensive research and troubleshooting with Vizio, it was determined the soundbar needs to be replaced because it won't hold the HDMI ARC connection.....without ARC, you can't use Dolby and even connected via ARC, my Samsung Q8F would not allow Dolby. So, take my word for it when I say DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE!! I will NEVER purchase another Vizio product for as long as I live and I would suggest you avoid doing the same if you value your money and time.

Skips, Loses Connection to Sub often

The sound quality is great for the price and is packed with features. Where it absolutely loses my confidence is it's features. Streaming music from Spotify skips like no one's business. If you stream in groups, the Soundbar always starts 2-3 seconds after the other speakers. I have had to reset and repair the Soundbar more times than I can count. I thought it was just the first one I owned. Nope. It's systemic. I really believe the software is the problem because it uses to not have the issue of the subwoofer disconnecting. Strangely, the surround speakers will work but not the subwoofer. When I repair it sometimes will work again but not always. Totally infuriating.

Buyer Beware

I too thought if I had a 4K Vizio tv, my Vizio sound bar would be a good addition for sound; I was mistaken. It will raise the sound so high you can't stand it during an action film or commercial. Within 1 month it began to stop working all together and the tv speakers would come on in their place; we would have to reset or unplug the sound bar to get it to work again. This is and has been a continual problem for 4 months now, we are researching and reviewing other products, we will be throwing the Vizio away. I would NOT recommend this sound bar to anyone.

Seems awful to have to replace after just 2 years, This may be the 1st time I buy something else.

Posted .Hello Dave, Sorry having issues with the sound bar, We would suggest starting off with a power cycling-Unplug the sound bar from the power, Hold the physical power button on the Sound bar for five seconds, Then re-seat the power cord back into the Sound bar, If this does not resolve the it-Please reach out to us at 1-855-833-3221
