I bought the WD - My Cloud 2TB Personal Cloud Storage External Hard Drive last November, and upon initial use it was easy to setup and worked ok for a couple of days and then was unresponsive. The only way to get it back online was to power off and on or reset. The was the case for over two months until WD came out with a new firmware. Now for over a month the device had been working properly and I can access the files on the storage using either a laptop, iPad, or smartphones both at home or on the road with an internet connection. My PS3 can access all the pictures and videos stored on the drive too. Finally I can justify buying this device.

I bought this for my brother for his business data backup and he seems to like it. I have another WD network storage since 4 years and still running 24/7 and no issue at all. It can also download files from internet directly to it without use of computer and also supports SSH.

It was easy to set up after I found the instructions, which are online and not included in the box. After I got it running, the walk through made it easy for me to set it up and get access on the mobile device.

After reading many reviews, I hesitated to buy this but I'm glad i did. It does exactly what I expected of it. I can download & upload any file from anywhere through the app & access it through any of my devices connected to it allowing me to stream my movies & music to all of my tvs, phones, & tablet. The only reason im givving it a 4 out of 5 is because when I initially started transferring everything from my old harddrive to this one it took longer than expected but then again i did have about 300gb worth of stuff

My Cloud is easy to use, was easy to install, has more than enough room for everything that I do.

Does exactly what I wanted it to do. Setup was pretty easy if you use the quick start guide. Had to go online to figure out some of the features. Would have given 5 stars if more detail came with it.

This thing is awesome. For someone who doesn't have a computer or laptop at home (only have a work laptop), this thing is great. Now I don't have to bring my laptop home all the time whenever I want to look at old pictures from my hard drive or clean-out the card on my camera. Now all I do is go on the app and vuola, all my pictures are easily accessible from any where anytime. Makes sharing easy.

Great personal network cloud/storage device. Right out of the box, it was easy to connect to my network and get running. The software download was simple, and the wizard walked me through the process flawlessly. My plan is to use it for family pictures, and all of my household can store in one place. I haven't figured out how to access it with my smart phone yet, but I'll get to it sometime.

We were looking for a cloud system to back up our phones as well as our computers and tablets wirelessly. The unit itself does need to be connected to the Internet to work wirelessly with your devices. You can directly connected via the USB port (works with the computers, iPhone don't usually have that capability) if you prefer, and this may transfer faster, haven't tested it. There were some complaints of how slow the transfer rate was over wireless...I did not find it annoyingly slow, it was not lightning quick either, but it works well for me. I am quite pleased with it and the free app as well is simple to use. By leaving the unit connected to the Internet and using the app, you can access your stored data from anywhere as long as you have cell/wifi service. Overall, I am happy with the performance of this unit and would not hesitate to recommend it.

WAS HOPING TO USE THE WD PERSONAL CLOUD INSTEAD OF DROP BOX TO SAVE SOME MONEY ON THE DROP BOX SUBSCRIPTION. ONLY TOOK A FEW MINUTES TO SET UP. EASY TO USE. NOT AS USER FRIENDLY AS DROP BOX BUT ACEPTABLE. MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS IT HAS LOST ITS CONNECTION A COUPLE TIMES. IT IS INCONVIENIENT WHEN YOU CAN'T ACCESS YOUR FILES BECAUSE IT WON'T CONNECT. IT MAY HAVE BEEN MY INTERNT, BUT MY OTHER DEVICES COME BACK UP AUTOMATICLY. MY WD PERSONAL CLOUD WAS THE ONLY DEVICE THAT HAD TO BE TURNED OFF AND BACK ON TO RECONNECT. OTHER WISE VERY HAPPY.

Was about to buy another flash drive when I saw this external hard drive and purchased. Set up was fairly easy and was able to access everything from the cloud on my phone via the app. Great purchase and no complaints so far.

I love this external HD it is very easy to setup and use. I like that I can backup from taskbar, website, or mobile, I've always had good results from WD so this doesn't surprise me that it's user friendly..

Very easy setup and connection. Downloading the app on my iPhone was simple and connecting was easy. Uploading to the hard drive can take a while if you have a slow internet connection so take that in mind.

Works great and was really easy to setup. Works great with iphone and ipad.

The hard drive is easy to set up. I'm still getting used to this. I purchased this so that I can sync up my desktop and my laptop and have a back up for all of my files. It has plenty of space and I love the design.

It's a great product overall, you can access about anything that you've saved on it through a personal cloud that is provided. So far my computer has about 10 GB used on it and it's a 1TB. Great investment!

Easy to install, and quick to learn. It would be nice if users where able to create personal (separated) accounts not having to share all the information on this drive with other users that have access to it

Initial setup up of My Cloud was confusing and time consuming, unlike the set up of WD My Book back up for my desktop. The My Book backup installation was simple. The My Cloud setup failed instantly. I was instructed to call WD support. The WD technician walked me through getting set up to complete. He directed me to the WD web site where i found 5 or 6 different software products. I had to read through all of them to determine what I needed. If you want a simple set up this product is not for you. After several hours of work I was able to get My Cloud up and running, it actually works good.

I mostly use it to store my pics, movies and music. I have the security that no-one else has access to my private things and I can access them anytime, anywhere as long I have have internet access. I am good.
