Use to have my Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Home 2 TB as my main entertainment storage for the house. Upgraded to this WD - My Cloud 2TB External Hard Drive (NAS). A lot more compatible with diferent media devices. And was able to use my old drive as a back up to this one. Very satisfied.

Easy to set up and easy to access from my smart phone, tablet and pc. Access is also very fast but, that will also depend on your network. Very quite and stylish. It gives peace of mind to know that you have direct control of all your information. Let's not forget the great price for all the amount of space and additional space that can be added via USB port to backup all info. on your My Cloud hard drive.

Bought the WD Cloud because of a friend praising it for it's ease of use and the ability to access it remotely. I must say, so far, it has lived up to my expectations.

I needed an external backup drive to image the hard drives on my 3 computers. It plugged it into my router and each computer found it with ease. Just install the software and you are good to go. I then used Windows 10 image feature to image each hard drive and it went flawlessly.

I have always felt that sometimes the software execution on WD products could be better, but there is no beating WD hardware for performance and reliability. I would say, the software and user interface are both still a bit weak with the WD My Cloud, but it is much better than previous WD products I have used in the past. The hardware features on My Cloud, which includes the hard drive, dual core processor, and a Gig Ethernet interface, are first rate. I have been looking for a reasonably priced network drive for a couple of years. I almost purchased the My Book Studio Live last year, but read some terrible reviews. When I saw the price and features on the My Cloud, I decided to give this one a try. So far, I am reasonably happy with my decision. The initial setup was a little harder than WD promises, and about half way through I did have to start over from step 1, for some unknown reason. Once operational, main features like backup, mobile access, and DLNA work pretty well. I still need to setup network shares for my family of mobile users and there are some other features I want to implement. The user interface has two main elements, which is a bit confusing. There is a UI page that can be accessed via IP address on your browser. Although the UI screens are easy to navigate, there are too many preferences you can set, which lack detailed descriptions of their functionality. There is also the WD My Cloud desktop AP that is almost too simplistic. You need to setup the network 'shares' and users on the UI page, and use the desktop AP for basic file management. The DLNA support is provided by WD proprietary Twonky software built into the My Cloud. It works reasonably well between the drive and my SONY smart TV. Compared to Plex Media DLNA Server software on my MAC there are pluses and minuses. I have two problems with Plex DLNA. The first is that my video files are a bit jerky, as they are stored on an external hard drive to my MAC. The second problem was that some of my video files would stop playing on my Sony TV about 20 minutes into the playback. The My Cloud has extremely smooth playback, especially when both the TV and My Cloud are using Gig Ethernet. The 20-minute problem did not go away with My Cloud/Twonky, which indicates the issue is on the client side, i.e. on the Sony TV. I do prefer the way Plex Media cataloged my media files and presented better category selections on the client side vs. Twonky. But hopefully, future upgrades to the Twonky server will provide better functionality. Again, for now, it runs reasonably well. I have used the My Cloud Mobile App on both an iPhone and Android devices. I would give the mobile apps about a B- rating, but I would expect to see some better improvement with future releases here as well. I have seen complaints about slow network performance on My Cloud. Initially, I felt the same way, but I upgraded all my important Ethernet connections to Gig Ethernet and there was a vast improvement. Make sure your router and any hub ports support Gig E to take advantage of the Gig E on the My Cloud. Overall, I think WD did a pretty good job on designing a reasonably priced product that provides a lot of features that users looking for Network Attached Storage will appreciate. The My Cloud is also a nice looking product and I think WD put a lot of time developing this platform. My hope is that WD My Cloud has a longer product lifecycle than Studio Live did. And, that future software and firmware upgrades will improve the software functionality on an all ready very good hardware product.

After speaking extensively with a sales rep (from the Samsung counter), I purchased this item. As one who doesn't trust online cloud storage, I was quite please to be able to have my personal cloud to store all of my files with the added ability to access them from anywhere, even from an app on my phone. The 2TB of storage will be enough to serve my purposes right now, and the setup was easy as pie.

The device stores the data. You may need third party software to manage it how you want. The software won't do some things, like search the data. It won't skip though shares , but must scroll sequentially, not good if you have many. The help could be clearer, more accessible. They send you to FAQ, the forum, etc. Better support/CRM would have made for 4 or 5 stars.

When I saw the display for this at Best Buy. I did a double take! With a household full of iOS devices. I discovered what an awesome thing this is. My Cloud was everything I hoped it would be and more. It shows up as an app on my Sony blu ray player also, allowing me to access data from there to my HDTV. We enjoyed watching the home movies I had put on My Cloud. It's easy to set up and I can access data fom work or wherever on my iOS devices. My wife gave me this for a Valentines Day present.

I haven't been very impressed with this hard drive. The original unit I purchased would not connect to my home network after numerous attempts. I exchanged it at best buy the next day. The second unit works well, but from a software connection standpoint, its not the best. The whole reason I bought this hard drive was so that I could store pictures on it and access them anywhere. Sounds easy but its not. The apps they have for my iPhone work perfectly in my house, but if I'm at work its hit and miss. Sometimes you have to try multiple times to refresh the app before the files load in, but even that doesn't always work. Oh, and apparently their web-based application is being re-made. Its not ready yet and you can't use the old one either, so unless its my personal laptop or my work laptop, I cant access he files on a computer. Honestly, if I could, I would probably return this for either a better product or just stick with a USB external drive. The hassle has not been worth it.

I was considering building a NAS for my home media, but the price point for this was unbeatable. It has proven to be a great product to backup media files and DLNA to all devices. The only downfall is not having multiple disk to put into a raid set for redundancy. A great option though, is to connect another USB disk of the same disk size. It has a built in snapshot option so there is not a single point of failure. I am a system admin, so I am not sure I can gauge the ease of access, but it is so user friendly that I believe almost anyone can just plug and play with very little technical knowledge.

I am really happy that I have a way to backup my data from multiple computers through the network. The hard drive is reliable and working fine but there's a little bit of a learning curve on getting setup and setting up Smartware for automatic backups.

With a number of devices in my network, it's nice to have data in a centrally accessible location without having to dedicate a machine to server functionality. The ability to act as iTunes server and mobile apps add that much more to the experience.

Swtiched from a desktop to a laptop and lost a bunch of hard drive space as a result. I picked up a 2tb mycloud to store the stuff that had been on my desktop that i wanted to keep, but did not need to have on my laptop. So far, it has served this purpose well. The ability to access the drive from my phone and tablet is cool too, but the app needs some work.
