though challenging if you first plug it in with macbook, but reading the instruction how to deal with reformatting it for mac OS is quite simple. lightweight and the price- perfect. i was considering personal cloud/my cloud for backup and storage, but i have realized, i dont need to spend more money just for storage. i can always carry this one everywhere i go.

I'm using this to back up my WD MyCloud. Easy to set up, and the WD MyCloud software does the backup automatically. Small and uses little desk space. Seems like a good product for the money.

I find that Western Digital makes quality products that tend to last. I have purchased these portable hard drives in the past. They are small and run off USB power, requiring no external power supply. That makes them convenient for PC or laptop use. That is one less cord to struggle to fend an outlet for when climbing behind the desk or while using a laptop on battery. It supports the higher speed USB 3.0, search for them on your device (labeled or colored blue sometimes). Most devices have a mix of USB 2.0 and 3.0 these days. I would give this 5 stars if it came with a case. Inexpensive cases can be found on Best Buy as well. I have not used the included software. I mainly use these to create recovery backups for all of the family PC's and to do backups of photo, video and music libraries. I try not to keep them plugged in to extend their life and prevent unwanted access. I understand that Windows 10 has some nice backup features to automatically sync files to the external drive on a scheduled bases.

I have more flash drives than a body needs. The get lost or misplaced or just quit working. My Old Passport EHD was bulky and didn't always function properly (from being out on the road with me for two years) I was able to copy EVERYTHING from the old bulky passport, all of my flash drives and my old laptop onto my My Passport Ultra 1TB External WITHOUT any problems and it's easy to use and to keep my files organized. I also bought one for my daughter.

Easy setup, had it working on my Mac Mini in ten minutes. Works great! 1 TB at this price? Can't beat it!

I bought a Passport for my own use about 2 yrs ago and bought this Passport for a gift. Both units are working fine. The Passport is small and light and easily fits into the laptop case.

I've had terrible drives like Seagate and Toshiba's with drive failure and precious data loss. Western Digital is legendary for QC and making amazing drives! I will buy no HDD's BUT Western Digital for precious data. This was purchased for Xbox One usage as it's USB 3.0 compliant! Works like a charm! It's afforable and perfect for plugging into the back of the Xbox one and portable if you need to take it to another person's house.

This external Hard drive is the best one I have ever purchased. The automatic backup is simple to use after I called the tech center. Their Tech center staff are very helpful and explain what I was doing wrong and in fact gave me a better program than what can with the hard drive. I would highly suggest anyone who wants a reliable external drive to buy this one. Great company that stands behind their product with great tech service
