TCL 65" A3G Review: Great Deal at Under $700

The TCL 65" A3G Designer Series TV is basically Samsung's The Frame for less money. It looks great mounted on your wall with that matte screen that makes pictures and art actually look like artwork instead of a glowing screen. At the regular $999.99 price, you're getting a decent 4K TV with Google TV for streaming, plus the FREE art library without any subscription fees. The picture quality is solid for everyday shows and movies, and customers say it's sharp and clear. If you want something that doubles as home decor when you're not watching it, this nails that aesthetic. Where it falls short is if you're really into movies or gaming. The contrast isn't the best — dark scenes won't have deep blacks like you'd get from an OLED or higher-end mini-LED TV. It's also not super bright, so it struggles a bit in a sunlit room; I make sure to keep max brightness on for all types of content. And you can't talk to it hands-free like other TCL TVs; you have to hit a button on the remote to use voice commands. Pro tip: wait for a sale. I managed to snag mine for under $700, which makes it way easier to justify. At that price, it's a no-brainer for the look alone. At full price, you might want to think twice unless the art mode is really what you're after.

PERFECT PICTURE!!! SO NICE LOOKING!!!! SO MUCH BETTER THAN SAMSUNG BECAUSE ITS ALL IN ONE! PICTURE IS SO CRISP!! The interface is really nice as well, and it lets you turn on the TV when an HDMI device turns on, so I have an AppleTV and I just turn it on and the tv comes on and the Apple TV remote controls the volume. IT DOES DOLBY VISION GREAT AND IS INSANE WITH 144GHZ GAMING WITH MY PS5!

Amazing Quality For The Price

I purchased this TV for my living room which is extremely bright and man… it did not disappoint. I own other TV’s that are 3x more expensive than this, and would put this TCL up against them any day. Not to mention it’s a picture frame TV and sits completely flush against the wall. Perfect if you want quality and form all in one package. The built in art (thats also free and included) is amazing to leave on when youre not watching anything. Looking at getting another for put Primary Bedroom. If you’re on the fence and reading reviews - get it!

Just as good, if not BETTER than the ‘high end’!

We went from a 75” TCL to the 65” TCL Portrait TV when we upgraded our living room, and I have zero regrets. The picture quality is incredibly clear and crisp. The frame adds such a nice touch, especially with the art mode – it really does look like a picture frame. We’ve had so many compliments, and people genuinely think it’s wall art. Definitely recommend it if you’re considering one. We’re so happy with this purchase!

We love this tv!!! The matte screen is really nice!! Because we hung our tv right next to our balcony we get a lot of light coming in through the windows but the matte screen helps so much with the glare. We bought the 65” so it doesn’t really give the illusion of “framed art” only because it’s so big. Only reason I gave this 4 stars is because the plug that comes with the tv is terrible. It should be a flat plug but it’s just a traditional one so even with a recessed outlet the tv doesn’t sit super flush on the wall because of the plug sticking out. Not a huge deal but would be aesthetically better if it sit flush. Also, the frame that comes with the tv has these tiny magnets that are stuck on the frame itself and intended to stick on the tv. For some reason the magnets on our frame completely fell off when we put the frame on the tv so I had to gorilla glue the magnets back on the frame :/ One thing to also note, if you plan on gaming you need to plug in all your cables (hdmi, or anything else) before mounting or you’ll have to try to wiggle the cables in once mounted. Overall we’re super happy with our purchase!

I bought this after having a Samsung Frame 65” tv from 2024 fail just after the one year warranty expired. I loved that tv until the panel fried. So far this TV has been every bit as good of a replacement. The art mode is easier to access, though the matte wasn’t quite as good as Samsung. The TV is easily better in terms of picture quality and gaming. The effect on the wall is identical, though the cord is slightly more conspicuous. Given the price of this tv compared to the Frame and the known issues with the Samsung product I’d recommend the TCL every time.

Awesome to have a version that is in a more normal price range and accessible for ppl who don’t want to spend 3X as much. I think the angle of viewing is probably bette ron the frame tv tbh, but I’ve enjoyed this and it looks great in person.

We love having paintings on out walls this tv sat beautifully along with our paintings. Was super easy for wall installation. The remotes not my favorite layout but the tv is absolutely fantastic. And works like a dream.

Flush mounting this TV really improved the aesthetics of our living room. The picture quality has been great as well. Only knock is some odd issue where I occasionally need to "restart" the TV to make the apps load. Overall, a great purchase.

The picture quality is top notch. I usually don't like backlit screens but this one is very even. Hangs like a painting. Refresh rate is awesome. Google integration is also not as annoying as some name brand TVs. Good price too!

Product was carefully packaged, instructions were clear. Matte screen is especially nice when in art mode. It's nice to have the option to program the images. Clarity for sports mode is excellent.

The TV it's self is great! One of the best screens I've ever seen considering the price I paid.($599) My PS5 PRO has never looked so good thanks to it's 120hz screen and game mode which puts the screen into a faster mode. When watching TV my wife says she almost feels like she's on the set with the actors which says a lot as she's usually not impressed by technology at all. The not so good...Google TV leaves a lot to be desired, very limited apps which is weird considering it's GOOGLE! The speakers, they can get loud but there is no spatial anything they sound very flat. There is a TCL app store(?) which if you read their terms and conditions, which I did, I do not recommend using that at all due to privacy issues yes I know Google is bad too but their stuff makes Google look like kids play. So outside of the few negatives of the above mentioned things, this is a very good TV. So why 4 not 5 stars? Great picture, excellent price, bad speakers and tracked a little by Google or a lot by TCL.
