Fourteen-year-old Susie Salmon (Saoirse Ronan) is just experiencing the pangs of first love when she's viciously murdered by her neighbor Mr. Harvey (Stanley Tucci), a predatory wolf with a deceptively mundane appearance. As her family slowly begins drifting apart while struggling to make sense of their loss, Susie bravely attempts to find her footing in the hereafter. Meanwhile, down on earth, Mr. Harvey is feeling confident that he's covered his tracks well enough to get away with the crime, and begins honing in on his next victim -- Susie's younger sister, Lindsey (Rose McIver), who's beginning to suspect that he's not the harmless suburbanite he portrays himself to be. Director Peter Jackson reteams with King Kong and Lord of the Rings trilogy co-screenwriters Philippa Boyens and Fran Walsh to adapt Alice Sebold's bestselling novel for the big screen.~Jason Buchanan
This is a story of the “intermittent-life” after a wrongful-death until the right-side is served, and it’s both an interesting and powerful story about a young girls murder that is accompanied by a superb inventive sound- track, very competent sound-effects and surprisingly striking-good cinematography. Mark Wahlberg’s grief scenes were as believable as-it-gets as was his quest for the truth. Saoirse Ronan portrayal of Susie is nothing short of brilliant. The story-line contains enough surprises to hold your interest and you will enjoy the view.
The movie is good especially if you can get the 2 disc special edition. It's well worth your money. However you can't because Best Buy has SKU or item number is wrong. So every time you get the 2 disc edition, you're going to get the singe disc standard edition. From what I know, they haven't fix it yet. 3/28/2015
The movie itself gets a 4 star from me. Recommend everyone to get the 2 disc edition
This film deserves much more than Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic surmise. Excellent performances from the cast (especially Stanley Tucci) overcrowd the film's shortcomings of an ambiguous (and strangely connected) afterlife landscape.
I'd imagine it would be difficult to watch if the subject matter hits close to home, as the worldly sections of the film are so well done. Definitely give this one a shot.
Great film had to purchase it on bluray. It's a very well crafted film with a great cast. So emotional throughout the film. I did have a tear or two Come down while I was watching it. A must have to the collection
An excellent movie that really pulled me in. The story is absolutely gut wrenching and depressing, but it is done in a "pleasant" way that is a little more palatable. Definitely one of those that requires tissues.
