About this product

Vinyl LP pressing. 16 Bars offers a rare glimpse at the human stories and songs locked away in our nation's jails and prisons. The documentary follows a unique rehabilitation effort in a Virginia jail that encourages inmates to write and record original music. In the jail's makeshift recording studio, four men collaborate to produce an album with Grammy-winner Todd 'Speech' Thomas of Arrested Development. His goal was to shed light on the complex issues in our criminal justice system by bringing the voices and stories of incarcerated people to a larger audience. Music magic happened in that jail, and this is that album. The four featured artists are Teddy Kane, Garland Carr, Anthony Johnston, and Devonte James. All the basic tracks, rapping and singing were recorded in the Richmond City Jail. The album is somewhat eclectic. There is music here that will appeal to hip hop, blues, outlaw country, gospel, and Americana. Album Tracks 1. Recidivism 2. Broken Chains 3. Inspire 4. Where My Daddy At? 5. Lost One 6. Lay My Burden Down 7. Freedom Wind 8. Steam Train Salvation 9. Two Stamps

Litmus - O.S.T. - Litmus (Original Soundtrack) - VINYL LP

Vinyl LP pressing. As part Anthology Recordings' Surf Archive series, we celebrate the soundtracks to Andrew Kidman's classic 1996 film Litmus alongside his 2006 follow up Glass Love. Litmus, Andrew Kidman's first avant-garde surf film, served as a soulful reaction to the pop-punk progression that dominated the InchalternativeInch mainstream. With the film's visceral and cerebral moodiness, folksy soundtrack, and meditative spirit, critics swooned over surf misfits like Wayne Lynch, Derek Hynd, Tom Curren, and Joel Fitzgerald. Despite the acclaim, the film was not much of a commercial success at the time. The aura of Litmus' soundtrack, however, has found it's cultish corner in the surf world. Album Tracks 1. Rain - the Val Dusty Experiment 2. Wayne Lynch Quote - Wayne Lynch 3. Gapu - Yothu Yindi 4. Listen the Snow Is Falling - Galaxie 500 5. Derek Hynd Quote - Derek Hynd 6. Mo Walker - the Val Dusty Experiment 7. Cow - the Val Dusty Experiment 8. Time - the Val Dusty Experiment 9. Black Is the Colour - the Screaming Orphans 10. Joel Fitzgerald Quote - Joel Fitzgerald 11. Green Hornet - the Val Dusty Experiment 12. Fire Jam - Tom Curren 13. Elizabeth - Rosie Sutherland 14. Dump Swimming - Jon Frank the Val Dusty Experiment 15. Hawaiian Surf Forecast - the Val Dusty Experiment 16. Riding the Wind - Kevin Baker the Val Dusty Experiment
