Bought 3 and got to test this first. Blue color is worth it, excellent for first time gamers. Best gift for my niece on his graduation.

For the entry level price compared to other nintendo handhelds it is a great deal. With the 2DS you lose 3D function but that is mostly gimmick anyways. This allows you to still play 3DS games but without the 3D effect. There are some game you can even find that only need one cartridge to play on multiple handhelds at the same time allowing this to be a great gift for multiple kids in the same home or for kids who play this with friends at school or home. Being that the second screen doesn't fold closed like the other models you will need something to protect this though.

i've been doing research on the nintendo ds for the last 2 most for my 5 year old daughter. She has had the original leaped since she was 2 . She's completely taken over my tablet with wanting to play games so this was the next best thing. My daughter loves Disney and everything that come's with it so i was elated to know that nintendo had princess games on top of My little pony, Barbie and LAlaloopsy . Just to name a few i'm going to purchase her. This gaming console is perfect for her little hands . It reminds me of the "game boy". Now to my parents, with small children like myself, I purchased a 3 years protection plan just in case any damages or malfunctions with this system. I would also suggest you open it first and set it up because that took about a half hour and if your little one is just as anxious as mine with new toys they aren't going to want to wait for you to do that lol. Other than that the system is very user friendly and i can't wait to see herself come Christmas morning.

This game system plays any nintendo 3ds or xd. The only difference is that plays it on 2d but the colors and images looks great if u don't want to spend over$200 this is the way to go.very good for the money. Plus mario kart 7 is already install in it.

My son had a 3DSIXL for about two years before he dropped it and it broke in two. I really did not want to buy another one knowing he was only 7 and would drop it by mistake again. That's when I saw the 2DS option. It is great! It is compatible with all 3DS games and also can connect to other 3DSiXLs. The only two differences are it does not fold small. But this also makes is way more sturdy! And it is not in 3D which I didn't let my kids play on much because their eyes would hurt. The 2DS is a win win overall and at a WAY better price!

We got the the 2ds instead of the 3ds because of the price difference. The 2'ds is much cheaper then the 3ds. The 2ds is basically the same thing except it doesn't play the games in 3-D.

I got this specifically to play the remastered Zelda games. At first I though perhaps it be a waste of $80 to play old N64 games but I was wrong. It has definitely been worth the price. I don’t have a lot of time and have to set my play time to a 1 hr limit. With this I get some nice playing time. I turn it on and get into my game within seconds. I was so used to playing PS4 and it’s constant software updates and proper shutdown methods that can take up to 15 minutes. And when you have 1 hr. 15 minutes is a long time. Anyway, it’s only $20 more than a regular console game. If your on the fence, do it. (Especially if you like Zelda)

The Blue Nintendo 2DS is great! It's a nice size, very durable, so easy to operate my 4yr old son can use it with no help, it plays both older DS and newer 3DS game cartridges, stays charged for hours, and looks great. To top it off it's a great price! Even though it can play 3DS games they are not in 3D but they still look great. The only complaint i have is this is our second one because after less than a year the first one stopped charging. no matter how many times we moved the plug in ( even after buying a new charger) it would light up for a minute to show it was charging and then stop. eventually it stopped lighting up all together. yes i would definitely recommend to anyone and i already have purchased again.

This is a great product in that it allows you to play all the 3DS games. The price is reasonable, and though you are sacrificing 3D, the graphics are the same across the board. The build quality is typical Nintendo. The only real complaint is that it isn't the most attractive design and it is a little cumbersome compared to the small footprint of the 3DS.

unlike the 3DS this is a one piece unit. No hinges for your kids to break yet still plays all the same games the 3DS will, but at about half the price. Only con is it doesn’t do 3D, but that is a feature most people turn off on their 3DS anyways. And this also includes Mario Kart 7!!!

This works just as good as the 3DS and is a third of the price. It plays all of the 3DS games.

I bought it for myself and since my boyfriend already got 3DS XL I don't see the need of buying another one. If you don't think screen size is a big issue and If you rarely even use the 3D function in 3DS you should totally get this. Way cheaper and lighter.

I bought this 2DS for my 5 year old son, he loved it. Of course he still does not know about the difference between a 3ds and 2ds, he loves all kind videogames and consoles, and more if Mario bros is in them. So I decided to buy it since it is cheaper than a 3ds and because it plays all kinds of DS games, as well as 3ds cards, but only lacking the 3d part, you can not view games as 3d, but my son does not care about that. Its design maybe it is not the best, the screens are smaller than the 3ds, and it does not fit in your pockets, but I think is fine for kids, better than carrying tablets or laptops only to play games, and of course not as expensive as them, $79.99 plus taxes including a game, I think is great. I just have to buy a case and screen protectors in order to keep it safe from scratches and falls.

I bought this so I can play w my daughter.. she already has a 3ds so I just wanted a simple, nothing fancy ds to play with her.. this wasn't perfect! $80 and it already brings mario kart which is a $30 game.. and it works just as well.. honestly I kinda prefer the non-folding style of this ds. I'm very happy!

Purchased 2DS as a gift and it was LOVED. Highly recommend for adults and kids just dipping their toes into gaming. It's easy to setup and use and at such a reasonable price. All 3DS games work on it and I love the option to download directly to it-- giftcards make it so this gift can kee giving!

Following the launch of the Nintendo Switch I was feeling some Nintendo nostalgia, but not quite willing to spend $300 for the Switch. The 2DS is a good compromise. The system is able to play many staples from Nintendo's past (Zelda, Mario, Donkey Kong), while also offering some creative new titles. The system, in 2017, is not going to blow you away with specs or graphics. But if you manage your expectations, the 2DS is hard to beat at the $80 price point. Good, classic games available in a convenient, portable system at under $100 equals a 5-star rating from me.

Believe it or not, I love this console. The price is perfect. The quality is great. Is like a mini tablet I love it. Does the same thing as a 3D except the effects. But the games look so good I love it.

We weren't comfortable with our youngest daughter using 3d, so this fits the bill perfectly. Plays new 3ds and original DS games wonderfully, and honestly has less moving parts to break :)
