What I Loved Ace Combat 7 makes you feel like the most important pilot on the planet—and everyone knows it. The jet combat is fast, smooth, and ridiculously satisfying. Locking missiles, pulling impossible maneuvers, and watching enemies explode mid-air never gets old. This is arcade flying at its best: easy to pick up, hard to master, and constantly screaming “do something awesome.” The campaign leans fully into Ace Combat’s signature style: serious military stakes mixed with dramatic dialogue that feels like it belongs in an anime… and somehow that makes it better. The story has heart, tension, and just enough chaos to keep you glued to the cockpit. What Caught Me Off Guard The weather. Thunderstorms, turbulence, clouds messing with radar—Mother Nature is apparently the secret final boss. Also, the soundtrack goes way harder than it has any right to. You’ll be pulling a high-G turn while the music swells like you’re saving the world, because… you probably are. Final Verdict Ace Combat 7 is pure aerial power fantasy. If you’ve ever watched Top Gun and thought, “Yeah, I could do that,” this game will happily enable you. 9/10 — Would absolutely buzz the tower again.

Ace combat is one of the best flight simulator arcade style jet games ever ! It has a ton of missions plus the multiplayer is one of the best so far. The VR mode is outstanding and you feel like you’re in the game or the pilot itself I cannot recommend this game enough !!!!

If you have Sony VR your in for some jet flying action out of this world. This game is beyond awesome. It’s so realistic you may get a bit dizzy at first but you will become an ace in no time.

Always been a big fan of the series and I love it. The mission is somehow difficult since I’ve played the last game. I’m also saving up for the PS VR so I can check out the VR mission. I need to slow down playing this game because it’s addictive. A must have game for the fan.

A really fun Jet Fighter Combat game with beautiful graphics and easy to use controls. The campaign missions are fun and challenging! I haven't tried the online multiplayer yet (just playing solo offline), but it's an awesome feature! I also have a PSVR and the VR missions are incredble! Sadly the VR mode only has 3 combat missions and a Free Flight and Air show mode (spectator), but the 3 VR missions are awesome and really makes you feel like you're inside the cockpit of a jet fighter! I use a Thrustmaster PS4 HOTAS and the immersion is incredible.

Well it's been over 11 years since we seen this series on the Playstation and even though this series is a cult favorite not sure why it took so long to come out with a new version. I found myself right at home with the controls and game play and that's a good thing considering this new installment expects the same out of everyone. There is no training mission. You jump right into the action. It's basically if you fail you try again until you get it right. This approach may be met with some resentment considering there are few and very far between check points in the game missions themselves. This means a failure to complete an objective may result in repeating from the start of the mission which equals 20 some minuets each time. The series is known for progressively getting harder and harder as you near the end of game. Ace Combat gives plenty of difficulty settings so even a first timer to the series can get the hang of the controls . Just like with all games that challenge your reflexes it will be a very long time before you become an ACE at ACE COMBAT 7. I found the story mode to be pretty much the same as past ACE COMBAT games which isn't a bad thing but the narrative can get a bit long winded. Thankfully you have the option to skip these scenes if you just want to get right back into the next dog fight. It's worth the purchase and I found the replay value a little lacking but, if you revisit this after a few months i'm sure it will be just as fun as it is when you 1st played it.

It's been a long time since the last big Ace Combat game but this one has all the series hallmarks and is a great time. If you're not familiar, Ace Combat isn't a full on flight simulation, closer to an arcade experience with easier controls. The story campaign is about 8 to 10 hours long depending on difficulty/skill. But it's very novel in that it has boss fights, which you wouldn't expect from a realistic-ish looking jet fighting game. Mechanically, most missions consist of flying into an area with a jet load out (you get all purpose missiles, and then can pick a secondary weapon, better air to air missiles, or specialized air to ground missiles if you're fighting a lot of ground/sea units). Then you go in and destroy your targets until complete. They mix it up with some flying challenges throughout the campaign, such as flying a preset path, or navigating a canyon to stay under a certain altitude to avoid satellite detection (think the Death Star trench run from Star Wars). The soundtrack is incredible (lot of choral and orchestration in the score). I mainly come to Ace Combat for the music and gameplay, and this one delivers on both of those aspects. Outside of that there is a big competitive multiplayer mode which I wasn't as big a fan of, due to everyone being incredibly good at the game, and there are some online modes that benefit you if you've just played more than other people because you have more jets and equipment unlocked. Some people really get into it, but that's not my forte. Lastly it does come with a short (~30 minutes) campaign you can play if you have a Playstation VR headset. It's just three missions, and it's a ton of fun. I would hope they add more VR missions to the game as I had an absolute blast playing in VR, so that's a nice bonus if you already have a headset. Definitely one of the best games I've played this year.

Ace Combat 7 delivers an exhilarating air combat experience that feels both cinematic and skill-based from the first mission to the last. The flight controls strike a great balance between arcade fun and realistic handling, making dogfights fast, intense, and incredibly satisfying. The visuals are impressive, with dramatic weather effects, detailed aircraft, and large-scale battles that truly make you feel like an ace pilot. The soundtrack and radio chatter add to the immersion, keeping the story-driven missions engaging and high-stakes throughout the campaign. Whether you’re a longtime fan of the series or new to Ace Combat, this game offers thrilling missions, memorable moments, and endless replay value. It’s a must-play for anyone who enjoys action, flight, or military-style games.

The Ace Combat games are probably the most renowned flight games on consoles. They are very pick-up-playable with its arcade style gameplay given how your fighter jet can hold like 80 missiles. 7 continues this and despite the arcade gameplay, you can pull off some cool real life maneuvers if you're skilled enough like the post stall maneuvers, cobra, and kulbit. The melodramatic story and epic soundtrack by Keiki Kobayashi is still there. While the story isn't as good as 5 was, it still serves it purpose of providing motivation and making you feel like a hero. Moreover, it takes place in the fictional Strangereal so there's some connection to the older games though not enough that newcomers won't be lost. Graphically speaking the planes are very impressive and crisp. Flying through clouds cause your screen to develop an ice effect, which also affects gameplay since missiles have a harder time tracking you through the clouds. I should mention that there are three playable VR missions that I highly recommend if you own a PSVR. The immersion and added depth perception adds a lot. The graphics on VR aren't quite as good as the regular game missions, but it's still good enough to be impressive. I can't recommend this game enough for fans of the series. For new ones, it's certainly not a bad starting point even if it's the seventh game.

Pretty good VR experience. Was a little miffed the price dropped after I purchased it but eh it happens. Good decent controls not too hard to get the hang of but prepare for motion sickness afterwards. I typically don't get too bothered by motion sickness but this one got me pretty good for some reason.

I absolutely love *Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown*! I've always been a fan of the Ace Combat series, and this game really fueled my passion for wanting to be a pilot—though life had other plans for me, haha. It's incredibly addictive and easily one of the best combat flight simulators I've ever played. The action, story, and immersive gameplay keep me coming back for more. Highly recommend for any flight sim enthusiast!

A fantastic addition to the Ace Combat series, the game play and graphics are fantastic. The story however is confusing and leaves something to be desired compared to past games. However, it is still a fun a enjoyable addition to the AC family. The VR missions are incredible, but there are only 3 of them and you cannot use VR in the regular campaign or in multiplayer. I would have liked to have been able to make more use of the VR set. Overall, 4/5

A true return to form of the original hard core console flight action genre. The challenge is definitely up to the series standard with 20+ missions to explore in Strangereal. Don't believe the negative rumors that this game is impossibly hard, it just takes a bit of practice. Story is engaging and has some twists that add new personality we haven't seen before. Music is as always impressive with many call backs to previous tracks. The new MRP system, which allows you to buy planes and parts is a far cry from what other games do in the form of microtransactions. You have to earn the points to buy the best air systems and weaponry...you can't use real money to pay to win. Multiplayer is optional but not required to open all content. In fact the multiplayer and single player tracks are separated to avoid forcing the issue. All in all a great addition to the series and a nostalgic shot at when games were just games and not slot machines for corporate powers.

Fun air combat game with fun arcade feel with a touch of realism. Control is easy enough to pick up after a couple missions. Four difficulty selection should let all players to find their comfort level.
I've always loved the Ace Combat series, so I was counting the days until this released. It certainly helped when I heard about the VR missions that would be included. So far, the campaign is really good. Storyline leans a bit towards the melodramatic, but the game play excels. Graphics are amazing. Enemy fighters are more challenging (even on "regular" difficulty), or maybe it's been too long since I've played. The VR missions are where this game truly stands out, however. I snagged a Hotas Flight stick on sale, and man does it add to the experience. Tracking enemy fighters as they whiz over my head, then pulling a 4g inverted dive to chase them down... wow. As close to Top Gun as I'll ever get. I hope they add more VR missions in the future. Great game.

Playing this game with the Top Gun music paying playing from the 80's makes me feel light a Top Gun Fighter Jet Pilot...so thrilling & have you use the HOSTA controller then that just adds even more trills & realism to the game & to go even further play some of the fight mission on PS4 VR...now your not just playing but your in it now...wow, if you have that set up congratulations you know how it is, but it you don't then check it out at a friend first or just get the VR set up...just take it easy in the air at first or you might just want to land that jet until your stomach can handle the maneuvers.
