I picked this up from my local Best Buy a few weeks ago to replace an older base-model iPad that was starting to chug, and I have some mixed thoughts. Don't get me wrong, the hardware is absolutely beautiful, but there is a major catch depending on what you plan to use it for. The Pros The Screen is Unreal: The Tandem OLED display is the real deal. If you watch a lot of movies at night or edit photos, the contrast is perfect. The blacks are completely ink-black, and it gets incredibly bright. Insanely Thin and Light: It feels lighter than my old iPad even though it's packed with a laptop-grade chip. It's so thin it almost feels fragile, but the aluminum frame feels solid in the hand. M5 Speed & Multitasking: The new M5 chip with the base RAM upgrade makes everything instant. Web pages load before you finish tapping, and apps never crash or reload in the background when you're jumping around. Landscape Camera: They finally put the front camera on the long side. If you do Zoom or FaceTime calls while using a keyboard case, you finally look like you're looking at the person instead of staring off into space. The Cons Total Overkill for Casual Use: If you just want to watch YouTube, check email, stream Netflix, and read news articles, save your money and buy the iPad Air. The M5 chip is a nuclear reactor powering a flashlight if you aren't doing heavy lifting like 3D rendering or video editing. The Accessories Cost a Fortune: To really get the most out of this, you almost have to buy the Apple Pencil Pro or a keyboard case, which adds hundreds to the final price tag at checkout. Software Limitations: iPadOS 26 is smooth, but it still won't let this act like a true laptop. You can't easily run desktop programming environments or complex multi-window workflows like you can on a MacBook. My Final Verdict If you are a digital artist, photographer, or a mobile professional who lives inside creative apps, this is easily a 5-star device and the best tablet on the market. It handles high-intensity graphics tasks without even breaking a sweat. However, if you're an average user looking for a casual media machine or a total laptop replacement, the price premium is hard to justify. I'm keeping mine because I love the OLED screen for movie streaming and travel, but for most people, the M4 iPad Air is a much smarter hit to the wallet. Would I recommend this to a friend? Yes, but only if they have the budget and a specific workflow for it.

This is the first Vietname made or Vietnam assembled iPad I bought after about 7 years of getting my iPad Mini in Best Buy. The iPad Air runs very fast, and very smooth. It is great for remote work and online surfing. I bought this iPad Air M4 11 inch tablet because my older iPad Mini is aging, slow, freeze on loading apps. It comes in the right time, right deal. I would recommend a buyer getting a dual fold keyboard with trackpad and a dynamic folio case instead of a keyboard case if you use for remote work.

The 11” iPad Air M4 is an amazing machine. This device replaced a 2019 10.2” version of the basic iPad. The 10.2” version had served me well for 7 years. While it was slow in downloading pictures from my cameras (lightning connection) it did what I needed it to do, but even with a iPad, I still needed an M1 MacBook to accomplish much of what I needed to get done. After 2 months with the new M4 iPad Air, I can tell you that I have only fired up my MacBook twice (both times for a Zoom meeting where I needed multiple screens for the meeting). This thing is blazingly fast. I downloaded about 100 pics from the grandson’s Martial Arts promotion in less than a minute (USB-C vs Lightning). Moving things to iCloud is fast and clean via wi-fi. The 11” screen, while only .8” bigger than my former iPad’s 10.2” screen, seems to be so much bigger and is definitely brighter. The colors render so much better. The M4 chip is incredible at processing things like video (cleaner and less pixelated than my former screen) and running photoshop filters and edits. I don’t notice any lag time when running processor-intensive recipes in Lightroom and Photoshop. All in all I would say this is the first iPad I have ever had that is most likely capable of replacing my MacBook…I am going to try running multiple screens with my iPad, not sure how that will go… This is money well-spent and an easy “Yes” of you are looking to upgrade and older iPad that my still be serving you well, but is getting a bit long-in-the-tooth for what you are doing.

The 11‑inch iPad Air with the M4 chip is an ideal student sidekick that feels both powerful and portable. With its fast M4 chip, sharp 11‑inch display, and long battery life, it’s perfect for taking handwritten notes with Apple Pencil, flipping through PDFs, following lectures, and even editing projects on the go, all while looking sleek in Space Gray. For tech‑savvy students who care about AI and smart tools, this iPad Air stands out because it can smoothly run note‑taking apps with AI summarization, intelligent search, and transcription, plus creative apps that leverage the Neural Engine for faster edits and image work. It pairs beautifully with a MacBook Pro for coding and heavy AI work, giving you a lightweight, campus‑ready tablet that still feels future‑proof

I got it as a gift for my Mom as early Mother's day gift. She's been rocking an Ipad 4 for a minute. She loves to take care of tech and use things to maximize their lifespan. But Apple updates their hardware enough for me to pull the trigger. She immediately noticed the massive upgrade on the screen, speakers, and how snappy the M4 chip is.

I actually really like the iPad Air, like the big screen, the compatibility with my phone and Mac, two things that bug me are the refresh rate and the battery life(sometimes). sure its a nice tablet, but the refresh rate is one of the break-it-or-make-it kinda things, and on this ipad its only 60 Hz, which isn't bad but it's noticeable.

I had the 1st and 3rd generation iPad Air before getting this current generation M4 iPad Air. The Current iOS has lots of features that make it much more usable. The screen is bright and responsive. The M4 chip keeps up with anything I am trying to do. I like it but only went with the base model because the apple tax on extra memory is too much so I just workaround that.

There’s a reason I bought this particular model. If you’ve ever wondered about some of the advanteges that one might have over another, I’ll help with this review. By some miracle, I actually got fiber at my house. If you didnt know it, all WiFi is not created equal. My old “regular” ipad was on it’s way out due to being 5 years old (batteries are what typically will eventually get me to buy a new ipad). However, using that old ipad i gave the new shiny fiber line a lap on the old speedtest only to discover it got about half my fiber speed. My iphone 16 got full fiber speed. That sent me down the rabbit hole only to learn that my iphone has the latest greatest in WiFi capabilities and if I wanted the same out of my ipad that i use all day long, the latest greatest wireless card is in two ipad models: The ipad pro, and the ipad air. Im not spending the money on the pro. Way overkill for me. The ipad air m3 is pretty good but the m4 for $10 more has THE latest greatest WiFi card. I get the full 1gb of my fiber with it. Money well spent. Side note: the regular cheapie ipad has about the same card/speed as my old ipad so thats one reason you might want to spluge on the ipad air.

This is quite literally a small version of a PC... with a touch screen. its the cherry on top of the sundae. As someone who both has to draw and is trying to work remotely, I cannot recommend a better item. I'm sure the M5 chip is still one step above this due to processing speed but the M4 is more than fine for what I use it for. I make YouTube videos and draw using procreate, mixed media in Canva, AND I can edit my videos in DaVinci Resolve from the iPad, all while not being at home... Stupendous purchase.
