Beet chair in this price range
Super soft, extremely comfortable and still supports lower lumbar. If you have cats, I have found that they don’t claw at this chair, which is usually the bane of my chairs existence. Overall 100% recommend I wish I purchased two of these instead of the Corsair leather chair that I also purchased through Best Buy. 5/5
Assembly was easy. Chair is honestly pretty premium to me and the only thing I can say is I wish the arm rest were matching material to the chair. Honestly though for $250 you can't beat it. This is my first gaming chair and man I needed this for years.
PROS
+ Looks and feels great - like a performance car seat with the soft touch upholstery, bolstered seat, and firm support
+ Design and firmness prioritizes posture and support
+ Feels solidly constructed & sturdy. It is surprisingly heavy
+ Wheels glide very smoothly with no resistance or jitter
+ Effectively a silent chair, no creaks or groans when sitting, adjusting, or moving
+ Nice and tall back fits perfectly for my taller frame (6’5”)
+ Neck pillow is nicely positioned and comfortable, with adjustability
+ Reclines very far backwards (almost a full 90 degrees)
+ Really nice hex wrench included in the box
CONS
- Frustrating to assemble, particularly connecting the back of the chair to the base without damaging the fabric
- Magnetic plastic frame covers feel cheap and don’t connect well
- Softouch upholstery doesn’t extend to the armrests, which are a simple hard plastic
- Lower back pillow is too firm for me
- Lacks minor customizability options that would go a long way (seat thigh extension, seat width extension, lumbar support firmness adjustment, tallest seat height is not quite tall enough for me)
SO-SO
* Not a one size fits all chair, you may need to go in expecting to trial it and find if it fits right for you
* Chair is on the firm side, which might not be ideal if you like a softer seat, or are playing for very long gaming sessions. I never was uncomfortable, but your mileage may vary depending on your body type and tolerance
* Not a ton of breathability in the fabric, so if you game hot, you may find this too warm. Was not an issue for me, but I run cool
* Upholstery may be tougher to clean than less premium materials
SEATING QUALITY & MATERIALS
On the whole, for me this Arozzi Toretta gaming chair works very well and fits a lot of my needs, but it is not perfect, and I think more than most chairs, your mileage with it will vary depending on your body and preferences. While I don’t think this needs to be a one size fits all chair, it is definitely designed with maintaining support and posture first (while looking good doing it) and maintaining comfort second. This is most apparent with the fact that the seating tends towards being firm vs “soft” or “plush”. This being said, I wouldn’t call the feel of the seat as “too firm” or “stiff”. The best word I can think of to describe it is “supportive”. This isn’t a seat you are going to sink into, but it is soft, with good padding and bolstering. It is a seat I would have a hard time slouching in, and I think is exactly the purpose.
I am tall (6’5”) and bad posture is one of the bad habits that I am always fighting. This chair is the best I have used for fighting that habit. It has a tall back which is great for me (and is a common issue I have with other chairs), and its structure means I am usually sitting upright, and comfortable while doing it. I have used this chair while working from home for a full day, gaming for 2-3 hour sessions, and while I am currently writing this review, and at no point was I ever uncomfortable, or felt like I was putting undue pressure on my spine. The only thing I really don’t like in this regard is the lumbar pillow, which is what I would call “too firm” and feels like something I am fighting against when sitting for longer sessions. You can move it up and down easily, but I really wish they included a second slightly softer pillow in the box, or added an ability to adjust lumbar support dynamically. Thankfully the neck pillow is the opposite, being just the right level of softness while still supporting my neck when leaning back. Speaking of which, you can recline very far back, which is nice, although given the firmness of the chair, and how tall I am, I could not see myself taking naps in the chair.
In terms of materials, the soft touch upholstery does look and feel great! It covers the majority of the chair (the seat, back, and pillows), and stays surprisingly cool for what it is. I tend to run cool, so it was never an issue for me, but if you do game with shorts, skirts, dresses, etc., and tend to run hot, you may find the fabric works against you as it is not mesh or breathable. I also have never dropped anything on it, but you will also likely want to keep some stain remover and/or upholstery cleaner nearby, as I can see this getting dirty if you were to drop food on it. I do wish the upholstery extended to the armrests though. It feels lacking just using standard black plastic armrests, and while this may be deliberate (maybe for the warmth reason I mentioned above), even making them swappable to use hard plastic or fabric based on your preference would have been nice. They are fine as they are now, but feel lower quality compared with the rest of the chair. Thankfully you can widen the armrests, rotate them, and adjust their height. Although, I think the narrowest position for them may still feel a bit wide for some people.
On the whole, I really like the seat quality and materials you get here. I think it lives up to the branding, and is perfect for me. Just be aware of your body type, preferences, and what you find comfortable. If you need a wider seat, are larger/heavier, run hot, or prefer a softer seating suspension, this is less likely to be comfortable for you.
ASSEMBLY & BUILD QUALITY
I pride myself on being able to assemble almost any furniture, and don’t get deterred by a lack of instructions or unclear directions. This being said, I got fairly frustrated assembling this chair. It is not complicated, there are really only a few pieces to assemble, all of the screws are already in the chair where they need to be, so you just need to take them out, slot the pieces in, and re-screw them in. You also get a really nice hex wrench tool that I was surprised they included in the box given how few screws there are (and I will definitely be adding to my toolkit for future builds). What was so frustrating is that the instructions are IKEA style, with no words and just pictures, but the pictures are not much help as they don’t really match up with the real pieces all that well. Combine that with the fact that the pieces themselves are fairly heavy and don’t lay flat, and I would absolutely recommend building this with someone else. I did it by myself (which probably made this more frustrating), and while it was pretty easy to intuit or guess what went where and how, putting the back of the chair on the seat was very frustrating. You have to slot it between metal arm frames, line-up the holes on both sides, screw it in, and then put cheap magnetic plastic covers over the arm frames (which I could not get to slot in correctly at all). I slightly tore the material trying to do this by myself since the metal frames easily scratched the soft fabric you are needing to squeeze between the frames, and combining that with the fact that the seat can’t sit flat while doing this, means you really need two people to do this safely without risking damaging the back. Even with two people though, this design could have been better, as it is easy to scratch the fabric accidentally given how tight it needs to be.
In the end, it didn’t take me long to assemble by myself, but it was frustrating, and really should be done by two people. Don’t make my mistake, be patient, use a friend, and you will be better off. Thankfully the actual build quality of the chair is outstanding. The heaviness that made it hard to assemble speaks volumes for the actual sturdiness of the materials, and I have had absolutely zero build quality issues. It feels as premium as it looks.
WHAT COULD BE IMPROVED ON
In the end, this is a very good chair that is edging on the side of greatness, but is held back by some small but very useful things. It is not very customizable, so the kind of person who will like this chair is more specific than it needs to be. If you could just adjust the seat with a thigh extension (for tall people like me), a width extension, adjust the lumbar support firmness, and allow the chair to go taller, it would be almost perfect for me. None of these are deal breakers, but they would help a lot. As I use the chair for more time, we will see how my opinions evolve, but after a week of use, I am happy with what I have here, and I hope they continue to improve on the product for future iterations.
