About this product
Critically acclaimed art-rock band Art in America returns with 'Rise', the long-awaited follow-up to it's groundbreaking self-titled debut album. 'Rise' follows years of anticipation and requests from fans for more music from a band that, upon their arrival, blazed new trails in the American progressive rock scene, and then simply vanished. Art in America was the first band to feature a concert harp as a main instrument in a rock band, and 'Rise' takes full advantage of Shishonee Flynn's Lyon & Healy pedal string harp as well as her introducing Indian tambura and Japanese koto into the new album. 'Rise' picks up seamlessly where their first album left off. The group's main songwriter, lead vocalist and guitarist Chris Flynn sings in the opening lines of InchDon't Look Down,Inch InchIt's been a long time... there's a lot to say,Inch and yes, it has been a long time, and the band helps him cut loose and speak his mind. The song InchGoodbye My LoveInch was written prior to the sessions for the first album and heard here now for the first time. InchNo WonderInch continues the story and saga of the ill-fated couple InchBrett & Hibby,Inch a track from the band's debut album. Throughout the album's nine tracks, which originated in 1983 as demos for what would have been the band's second album, 'Rise' goes from delicate, progressive landscapes to arena rock sound. In 2017 these rare recordings were transferred to digital and then remixed and produced by the band's bassist Jim Kuha. No conversation about 1980s progressive rock would be complete without the mention of Art in America, an American band that, upon their arrival, blazed new trails in the art rock scene, and then simply vanished. Their sound fuses elements of classical, symphonic, singer-songwriter, hard rock, and pop, with a twist Art in America is the first-known rock band to feature a concert pedal harp as a key component of their lineup. Their CBS/Pavillion first album, 'Art in America,' was produced by progressive rock legend Eddy Offord, whose work with iconic artists like Yes and Emerson, Lake and Palmer made him the only natural choice to produce Art in America. Their video for the album title track InchArt in AmericaInch was featured in heavy rotation on MTV. They toured extensively in support of the album, headlining their own shows and opening up for such bands as U2, King Crimson, Bill Bruford, and Roxy Music. The band's instantly-classic album cover, designed by the late renowned artist Ioannis, is celebrated in Michael Ochs book Inch1000 Record CoversInch as one of the best album covers of all time. In conjunction with the band's new album, 'Rise,' Art in America's self-titled first album is reissued in CD , now completely remastered from the original master tapes by mastering engineer Vic Anesini. The re- also includes two never-before-heard live bonus tracks, InchWon't It Be StrangeInch and InchInsult The Fashion.Inch Album Tracks 1. Art in America 2. If I Could Fly 3. Undercover Lover 4.
