I bought it about 2 months ago. The first thing I did was I upgraded its memory to 40 Gig by buying a $110 Crucial 32GB DDR4 RAM 3200MHz (PC4-25600) memory chip from Amazon. Installation was a breeze. Since then the laptop was running very smooth. Also I like that on the bottom of the laptop they have a raised stand that allows the laptop to blow hot air from the motherboard more efficiently and easily cooling the processor. The laptop is being used for software development and Intel Core i7 CPU is working very fast.

This laptop has all of the features that I need, but is smaller than what I wanted. Processing speed is great and I can also play my xbox games on it as well. Great Bonus!

As someone who tests laptops for work and personal use, I recently got to check out the ASUS Vivobook 14 in the Quiet Blue colorway. This laptop comes with an Intel Core i7-1355U CPU, 12GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD, making it an affordable choice for students, professionals, and casual users for under $1,000. The Quiet Blue colorway is subtle and stylish, giving the laptop a modern and premium look without being too flashy. The laptop chassis is slim coming in at .07in thin and lightweight weighing in at 3.09 lbs., making it very easy to carry around. The hinge is sturdy, and opening the lid with one hand is possible, and the screen offers 180 degrees lay flat design back. The 14-inch Full HD 1080p display offers decent visuals and colors. It’s an IPS-level panel, meaning viewing angles are good, and content remains visible from different perspectives. However, the brightness is just average at only 250 nits, while it works well indoors, it struggles a bit under direct sunlight. This isn’t a deal breaker but something to keep in mind if you work in bright environments. The screen also only offers a 60Hz refresh rate, which in 2025 I would like to 120Hz as the standard in laptops going forward. The ASUS Vivobook 14 is comes with a 13th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, with 10 cores and a base clock frequency of 1.7 gigahertz and can handle some multitasking. I tested it with multiple browser tabs, Microsoft Office applications, and video streaming, and it performed well enough. The 12GB of DDR4 RAM at 3200 megahertz is ok for general use and ensures that the laptop doesn’t lag when switching between tasks, but when dealing with big spreadsheets in Excel, while also having several tabs open on a web browser you will be using a lot of the RAM and notice some sluggishness. That being said, I wish ASUS would have gone with 16 GB of DDR5 RAM in my opinion. The 512GB SSD is an acceptable amount of storage and provides fast boot times. Unfortunately there is not an additional M.2 slot on the motherboard for additional storage, making upgradeability limited to the one slot. The same can be said for the RAM. The Network card in this is only Wi-Fi 5, so you will be limited in the wireless speeds you will be able to get since there is no ethernet port on this laptop. For gaming, this isn’t a dedicated gaming laptop, but casual titles like Minecraft, Rocket League, and much older games can run with the lowest settings. However, for more demanding games, this laptop doesn't have a dedicated GPU to run those games and would not recommend trying to game on this laptop, unless you are just streaming games from a cloud server and even then you could run into some performance issues. Battery performance is decent but not groundbreaking. With moderate use web browsing, document editing, and streaming music/video, the Vivobook 14 lasts around 7-8 hours. Fast charging is supported. Typing on the full size chiclet keyboard is comfortable, with a good amount of key travel and tactile feedback. Unfortunately this keyboard does not come with backlit keys. A standout feature of the laptop is the NumberPad 2.0, which is integrated into the touchpad into a virtual number pad and can be turned on and off by pressing and holding the right corner of the touchpad. This is extremely useful for data entry or calculations, as it eliminates the need for an external num pad. The touchpad itself is smooth and responsive, though a bit on the smaller side. The ASUS Vivobook 14 comes with a wide variety of ports in, 1x USB-C 3.2 2x USB-A 3.2 1x USB-A 2.0 1x HDMI 1.4 1x 3.5 mm headphone/mic jack 1x Barrel charging port The lack of Thunderbolt support is a major letdown for those who have thunderbolt docks or external monitors that support it, and that the USB-C port does not allow the laptop to be charged either , if perhaps you forgot your charger and wanted to borrow someone's USB-C charger you are out of luck there. The decision of deciding to go with a barrel plug to charge the laptop over USB-C, is a bit of a head scratcher where the majority of Windows laptops offer some sort of USB-C charging. The built-in speakers are downward firing speakers on the bottom and are serviceable and they lack deep bass, so for the best experience, external speakers or headphones are recommended. The 720p webcam is okay for video calls but doesn’t offer exceptional clarity so, except some graininess in low-light settings. The Microphone is serviceable and comes with ASUS’s AI-noise cancelling technology to block out background noise. Pros: Intel Core i7 512GB SSD Lightweight and stylish design Virtual num pad built into the touchpad ASUS’s AI-noise cancelling Cons: Screen brightness No Thunderbolt support No USB-C Charging 720p webcam Only 12GB of RAM DDR4 Limited in upgradability Wi-Fi 5 Overall, the ASUS Vivobook 14 is hard to recommend with all of the features that it is lacking, compared to some other laptops on the market for just $100-$200 more. This laptop is mostly for those who do not need a top of the line laptop for demanding workloads and is mostly for those who just want a laptop for web browsing and some light Microsoft office use.

Design & Build: The Quiet Blue finish looks sleek and professional while still feeling a bit unique compared to the usual silver or black laptops. At 14 inches, the form factor is compact and lightweight, making it easy to carry around for work, classes, or travel. The keyboard has a comfortable layout with good key travel, and the touchpad is responsive. Display: The 14” Full HD screen is crisp and vibrant, making it great for both productivity and streaming. Bezels are slim, giving it a more modern look. Brightness is solid for indoor use, though it could be stronger outdoors in direct sunlight. Performance: Powered by the Intel Core i7 processor and 12GB of RAM, this laptop handles multitasking smoothly. It’s snappy with everyday tasks, from browsing with multiple tabs open to light content creation. The 512GB SSD ensures quick boot times and plenty of space for documents, media, and applications. While it’s not designed as a gaming powerhouse, it can manage casual or older titles reasonably well. Battery Life: Battery life is decent, lasting through most of a work or school day with mixed use. However, heavy workloads (video editing, long Zoom sessions, etc.) will drain it faster. Other Features: The laptop stays relatively quiet, even under load, and doesn’t heat up excessively. Ports selection is practical, covering USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, and a headphone jack, though an SD card reader would have been nice. Pros: Stylish and lightweight design Strong performance for its class Fast SSD with good storage capacity Comfortable keyboard and responsive trackpad Sharp, vibrant FHD display Cons: Battery life could be longer Display brightness is average outdoors No dedicated graphics for heavier gaming Verdict: If you’re looking for a fast, reliable everyday laptop with premium looks and portability, the ASUS Vivobook 14 with Intel i7 is an excellent choice. It’s especially well-suited for students, professionals, and anyone who wants solid performance without breaking the bank.

I have owned several Asus laptops and many of their other products (desktops, routers, and motherboards) - all of which were very reliable. The performance of the Vivobook has been solid with no lag or freezes. With its Core i7, Iris XE GPU, and 12GB of DD4 RAM it easily handles both daily task and multi-tasking with multiple displays connected via its built-in HDMI port. I had no issue encoding GoPro videos while also watching videos, editing a few photos, surfing the web, and making notes for a trip. While I had no issues with the performance, the screen, speakers, and plastic case show the value focused nature of the Vivo line and I honestly prefer my old Asus Zenbook for daily use. Pros 1. The flexible multi-touch trackpad with number pad is a great idea and I wish every compact laptop had one as an option. The number pad takes a bit of getting used to, but works fairly well and can easily be toggled off when not needed. The multi-touch track pads works well enough to use without a mouse if traveling light and using two fingers to pinch to zoom in/out and scroll helps make up for the lack of touchscreen on the laptop. 2. The fan is very quiet and cooling performance was excellent - never getting hot (even during fairly demanding multitasking). 3. The 12GB of DDR4 RAM allows a reasonable amount of memory for multi-tasking and allows some share memory for the Iris XE GPU (much better than budget laptops with only 8GB). This means that this laptop easily handles multiple casual task (like school work, email, web browsing, watching videos, and basic Office applications) with a little overhead for things like light video/photo editing. For more demanding task, I would still prefer 16GB, but I never experienced a performance issue - no lag at all (Windows does a good job of RAM management). 4. Battery life is reasonable. While I didn't get the 8hrs claimed by Asus, I still easily got 6hrs in mixed use, without trying to conserve battery power. I also like that the MyAsus app also lets you limit charging to 80% when a full charge is not needed to conserve battery health. 5. The SSD storage (hard drive) is reasonably fast (up to 4,200MB/s read and 1,800MB/s write), made by Micron (a very good brand), and there is a minimal amount of preinstalled software - leaving 412GB of free space. 6. There is a good mix of ports: 3 Full sized USB 3.2 Type-A port (no adapter needed), 1 USB-C port, head phone jack, and HDMI port (once again no adapter need – this is great, because lots of laptops make you use a USB-C adapter now). 7. The nicely spaced keyboard has a good key travel and there is enough space on both sides of the trackpad to rest your palms, but I wish it had a backlight. In the MyAsus application you can disable the the track pad if you have a mouse (to avoid accidental clicks). 8. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work great. I am connected using my Wi-Fi mesh network and signal strength has been excellent in every room (better than my phone). My Bluetooth mouse connected instantly and has been working great. 9. The included MyAsus app is really useful. I regularly use it to adjusting settings and monitor system performance. It also offers basic support, Asus update notifications, and product registration options. 10. I love the easy to operate built-in camera privacy shutter (great job Asus). There are a variety of microphone modes to adjust noise cancelling in the MyAsus app. I used this for video chatting with family using Google Meet and had no issues. Things to Consider 1. The Iris XE GPU is better than basic integrated graphics, but uses shared memory and is not meant for games or high resolution video editting. 2. I am not a fan of the built-in display. The 14in 1920x1080 screen is bright and the matte screen significantly reduces reflection in my brightly lit dining room (lots of sun), but colors are not vibrant, it is hard to find the sweet spot on viewing angle (although the 180 degree hinge can help you find the right angle), and it is not sharp enough (often appearing fuzzy). 3. The case is a textured plastic. While it feels ok to the touch, it as to be handled gently as the case will distort if held from only one corner with the screen open (enough that the laptop will sit unlevel on a flat surface until you apply opposite pressure to bend the corner back). The screen hinge is easy to position and has no play at all, but you do get a creak from the case every now and then when changing the screen position. The rubber feet on the bottom keep do a great job of keeping the laptop in place and leave of room for ventilation on hard surfaces. 5. The speakers are not the worst I have ever tried, but aren't great. They could be a bit louder and lack defined highs and lows, but do not distort (even at max volume) and the volume boost setting in the MyAsus application does help you get the most out of them. 4. The 6.5ft long power cord gives you some options to find a plug on the go. Unlike a lot of new laptops this uses a dedicated DC connector and not a USB-C port for charging (while this avoids some issues with cheaper USB-C docks, this means you need to bring the power supply along even if you have a really nice dock that can power other laptops with less plugs). 5. The built-in camera is usable, but is only 720p and shows some noise even in good light... disappointing given how affordable 1080p sensors are.

I have long been an ASUS laptop fan. For example, their Asus Zephyrus laptops are some of the best blended-use gaming and professional laptops I have ever experienced. But this Vivobook… It just is not worth recommending at this price when the competition in this price range and a few hundred above has gotten so unbelievably good. I will be honest about what this laptop is: It is likely just Asus’s same $400 budget Intel Celeron or i3 laptop chassis, screen, and other core components built out with a few extra features and additional RAM that probably cost Asus maybe $20 more dollars total to add at the factory overseas, but you get charged many hundreds more without the benefit of an upgraded chassis, inputs, and ports. It is by no means a BAD laptop. It actually is quite serviceable and feels plenty speedy in 2025. So, if you got this laptop as a gift or for work, don’t despair; it will work for your needs. But if you are coming down to the wire on your decision-making on which laptop to buy, allow me to elucidate what I feel are some pros and cons of this device: Pros: -Lightweight and easy to transport with a compact charger -Physical Webcam cover that you manually toggle in place. -Good battery life, at least a solid 6-hour laptop with regular use on Best Power Efficiency mode -Good temperature management (see fan noise in cons). Temps never exceeded 91 degrees Celsius during benchmarking. -Excellent performance on web apps and productivity multitasking (Speedometer 3.0 score of 23.9, which is great in this price range!) -Peppy CPU and GPU Performance on Balanced power mode: -Geekbench 6 (GPU) OpenCL score: 11988 -Geekbench 6 (CPU): Single Core score: 2211 Multicore: 5434 -The Quiet Blue is QUITE a nice color. -Reasonably fast SSD: 4287 MB/s Read and 1819 MB/s Write speed. -Nifty trackpad with the ability to toggle a touch numpad on the surface. Nice for Excel spreadsheet or calculator work. -12 GB of RAM is a better baseline RAM amount than 8GB nowadays, but it is also mentioned as a con below -The keyboard has a nice texture and is pleasing to type on -The keyboard has a better layout than previous Vivobook models; they removed the crowded page up and page down, etc., a row of keys on the far right and added them as secondary functions to other keys. This was a good choice in my opinion. -Reasonably large SSD at 512GB. Plenty of on-device storage for most entry-level users. Cons: -Plasticky construction -Fingerprint-prone touchpad and keyboard deck -Low-resolution screen relative to the price -No touch screen at the price, which some of the Windows competitors offer -Old Wifi Card (Wifi 5, not 6 or 6E, or 7) -Loud fan noise that is present at higher workloads -Non-backlit keyboard -No USB-C charging despite low wattage requirement -USB-C port is slow and not even Thunderbolt certified at this price -The screen is dim and has bad viewing angles. It is really hard to see, for example, when it sits on a table, and you are looking down at it from above. At least the screen hinge goes a full 180 degrees to flat to help combat this issue. -Awful speakers. Tinny and do not get very loud. -12 GB of slow 3200mt/s RAM. Much of the competition at this price point has a minimum of 16GB of RAM. Altogether, this laptop is not unserviceable to use, nor would it be despised as a typical office-type laptop provided by a business to an employee. But it is certainly not a device that I would recommend to just anyone when there are so many good competitors at this price. If you are a longtime die-hard Vivobook fan, by all means, go for it! For anyone else, I would wait for a sale that better justifies the lack of features or look at competitor options to make sure you are getting the best laptop for your hard-earned dollars.

The Vivobook is a nice small laptop. It’s perfect for travelling as it’s quite light at 3lbs. The i7 model is plenty fast for everyday tasks, especially productivity. It’s got a nice anti-reflective 14” 1080p screen, though I do wish it was a fair bit brighter especially for days when you take it outside. It does also have a privacy filter for the Webcam built into the display, so you don’t need to worry about putting a piece of tape over the Webcam, (something we’ve all likely done). It would be nice to see a higher refresh rate though. While it would eat into the battery life, being able to adjust at will would be great. I tend to have issues when using 60hz panels so the higher the better, even my phone has a 90hz screen which makes this just that much more fluid. The storage in this thing is incredibly fast. It does appear to be using a Gen 5 based NVME SSD as in my tests I was getting over 15,000Mbps Reads and Writes, not even my personal desktop has a drive this fast so I’m a little jealous. Battery life seems to be solid on this especially when not in use. I fully charged it when I got it and have been on a little here and there over the last 2 weeks and have not had to charge it yet. I’d guess I’ve used it an hour every couple of days so I would have figured after a week it would have needed charging. The charger itself is compact which is always welcome with laptops of this size. Something I did really like, though it would be nice if the text was smaller was the “Numpad” that’s on the touchpad. It’s rather clever to have something like this as you’re still able to get the use of a full-sized keyboard but not be beholden to having to carry around a larger laptop. I think what might work better here is to make it so that the Numbers would only appear when it’s enabled through a kind of backlighting. On the Backlight topic, that is something that is sorely missing from this Vivobook. If you’re using the laptop in a dimly lit room or just at night, you’ll need some supplemental light as there’s nothing for illuminating the keyboard. This might seem small, but for me it’s disappointing, especially with my already poor eyesight. Overall though it’s a nice slim and lightweight laptop that’s terrific for everyday use and is still quite potent for productivity work inside something like Office. If you’re looking for something that’s small, lightweight, and packs some power, the Vivobook is a terrific option. Just making some small improvements such as the keyboard backlighting, a brighter screen and smaller text on the Touchpad for the “Numpad” I think would go a long way towards making this a home run.

I must begin my review by stating that the Asus Vivobook is a very capable laptop for every day use and school use. School use will be limited to basic web usage as I would not recommend for someone using software for designing or editing. It will handle all usage for the basic person on a day to day basis. However, I do not feel that the laptop is a good value for the cost. Let me start with the positive things I liked about this laptop. The overall look and feel are very nice. You can tell it is a nicer laptop, and the case looks a little flimsy, but this may be due to the drop rating. The plastic will likely bend and not break. The laptop unfolds flat, so you don't have to worry about stressing the hinges. The hinges themselves are also very sturdy and feel like they will last you the life of the laptop. I had no issues with the screen's brightness as other users have mentioned, but I do not like ultra bright screens as I am always lowering my brightness anyways. The keyboard has a nice feel, but they could have been backlit as others have also mentioned. This is an easy way to make any laptop feel that much more premium. There are also 3 USB ports and a USB C port. There is also an HDMI port. All of these make this laptop super convenient as many other devices have done away with these, needed some type of adapter. The computer operates very fast and can handle anything you throw at it, as I have mentioned earlier. The i7 processor is very fast and may be the fastest processor I currently own. This laptop handled all of the programs I could use while browsing. Again, this is basic use, nothing too crazy. 12GB of RAM is OK, but 16GB should be the standard I feel. Also, the 500GB hard drive is also OK, but 1TB should also be standard in my opinion. Overall, I think this laptop would be a great everyday computer. It will browse everything with ease. It should also last you a very long time. However, at the price point there are plenty of options with better specs.

The Vivobook 14 is a mid-range laptop that’s good for your casual office work suite or YouTube/Netflix. The laptop has a decent build and performance for regular task is good enough. There are some nice touches like a privacy screen for the webcam and a solid hinge along with the numberpad on the trackpad but then falls short in many aspects like screen/sound and older internals. Build: The build of the Vivobook is excellent, it is military certified for drops/temps/vibration/corrosion so its built to last. Its light and easy to move around and the hinge is very tight so there is no screen wobble. The keys are a bit stiffer than I prefer but still decent. This is a plastic build but I don’t mind that , it keeps the weight down and feels solid. Screen: The brightness of the screen is 250 nits which is ok in a average lit room. There is a feature in the MyASUS app that needs to be turned on which helps upscale/sharpen videos which does helps picture quality. Viewing angles on the panel are not good and you have to be dead center when watching/working. The screen is also a 16:9 ratio which is great for watching content but otherwise everything just looks a bit shorter and stretched out. Sound: The speakers are nothing to bring up as they are not loud or clear. Your best bet is to use headphones or an external speaker. Ports: The Vivobook comes with all the ports you could want/need (USB A, USB C, HDMI, Audio). While it has all the ports they are low end, the HDMI is 1.4 and the USB C can’t be used for charging. Internals: Asus provides a decent amount of Ram as 12 GB and same thing for the SSD 500 GB(which is decent with 4,000 read and a little under 2,000 write). Wi-Fi 5 is tough to see in a 2025 device though, the speeds are decent at 200+ download/upload, and the connection is solid. I didn’t have any issue with Bluetooth or interference, there was no speed slowdowns in downloading while Bluetooth was active. The battery life is decent, and I was able to get anywhere from 4-8 hours depending on what I was doing. The i7 is a decent chip and holds up well even with intense task but the fans come on often. There is no dedicated GPU so do not expect to run triple A games on it. I did feel the laptop get warm in certain places, but it wasn’t where my hands were. Overall This is a lower mid-tier laptop, nothing about it makes it stand out from the rest of the market. I wish Asus had upgraded a few things here and there such as screen, thermals, back light for keyboard and sound to make this worthy of recommending but sadly all those things are just ok.

I get it. Everybody doesn't need their PC to run Crysis. For some, if they can browse the internet, create some docs, the computer serves a purpose. After spending some time with the Asus Vivobook 14, I'd say even if you're not looking to knock out some work here and there and browse the web, I'd look elsewhere. The design of this laptop is...fine. While it's not ultra thin, it's not super thick either. Relatively light. Decent amount of ports. The keyboard feels fine for typing, however NOT having a backlit keyboard is a major miss in 2025. That should kind of be mandatory. Number pad on the mousepad? It seems like a cool idea...but I don't use it. It feels to weird using a number pad in that location, and, you have to press down on the mousepad to activate it...it's not smooth. I really don't like this screen. It seems very washed out. 1080p isn't that bad, but the brightness (250 nits) matched with the screen type (LED), makes for something I really wouldn't want to watch content on. I tried watching YouTube videos and...no thanks. When it comes to compute power, this machine is a bit of a mixed bag. While it comes with a 13th gen core i7...it has 12 gigs of ram. Sure, most experts would say you should be fine with 12 gigs of ram for most basic apps, and sure enough, I had no problem browsing with multiple tabs and bouncing back and forth between other software, but why limit it to 12 gigs with a core i7? If the purpose was cutting cost, I'd rather have cut cost on the i7 as well for potential screen improvement. The i7 seems like overkill for integrated graphics and 12 gigs of ram. To be clear, this is a light laptop that will allow you to do most basic computer functions, with a decent keyboard and a solid number of ports. Still, with this screen, lack of power to extend past basic computer functions, and lack of a backlit keyboard it'd be hard to recommend this laptop.

I’ve been using this laptop for a little while now, and overall I’m pretty happy with it. The performance is definitely one of the best things about it—it’s fast, smooth, and handles my everyday tasks with no problem at all. Whether I’m browsing, streaming, or doing schoolwork, everything runs well. The battery life is another big plus for me. It lasts a long time on a full charge, which is great because I don’t have to constantly look for an outlet during the day. As for the screen, it’s decent. It’s not the most stunning display out there, especially if you’re used to OLED screens with deeper contrast and more vibrant colors, but it still gets the job done and it’d touch screen. It’s perfectly fine for regular use like watching videos, working on documents, or casual browsing. Overall, it’s a solid, reliable laptop for the price. If you’re not too picky about having the most high-end screen, this is a great choice.

My experience with the laptop has been decent, and if you’re looking for a windows laptop to do some basic work on this will work. I did some light work with it, and it works just fine, but I don’t think this would be a good choice if you’re going to be doing heavy computer like video editing or playing any heavy games. I did run the Vivobook through UserMark, just to se how it performed, and it was pretty decent for a workstation, but not much else. So it really will depend on you, if this is powerful enough for what you need. On the design side of things, I like the ability to use the touchpad as a number pad, but hat that its printed on it. You get use to it, but just seems odd, but if you do anything with numbers having a number pad is great and you don’t give up the space on the keyboard with this. The screen is also pretty wide compared to other laptops, so you get good space if you have two apps side by side. With that said, the screen color leave a lot to be desired and seems kind of washed out to me. Another not is that the laptop is very light and easy to carry around, so if you move around and use it then its good. The thing I don’t like about the design is that we’re still getting laptop with proprietary plugs. Why can’t we just have everything plug in with a usb-c for charging? It would give you an extra slot, and just easier to charge if you already have one near where you work. I didn’t really need to charge, but would be nice to not have to remember where the plug is. The choice to use 12 gb of ram is also odd, its better then 8, but why not just get to 16? The 512 GB of Nvme had drive is plenty for most people. Overall, its a decent laptop for some light work and web surfing thats light and easy to use.

I’m really impressed with my ASUS Vivobook 14! It looks amazing in Quiet Blue and feels super solid. The Intel Core i7, 12GB of RAM, and 512GB SSD make it fast and smooth — it starts up in seconds and handles everything I need with no lag. The screen is bright and clear, the keyboard is comfortable, and the battery lasts a good amount of time. For the price, it’s an incredible deal! Totally recommend this laptop if you want great performance and style without breaking the bank.
