I’m truly happy and impressed by this laptop, starting from the packaging all the way down to the smallest details. ASUS clearly paid close attention to the design to make the ZenBook S 16 feel truly premium in terms of both quality and performance. It is noticeable that ASUS did an excellent job with the packaging. The laptop comes in a regular brown cardboard shipping box, while the device itself is housed inside a dedicated slim box that provides excellent protection during shipping and unboxing. The moment I had in my hands, I immediately noticed how lightweight it is. This laptop is razor-thin, sleek, and without a doubt feels premium in both design and build quality. Inside the box, ASUS included a compact power adapter that unlike the usual “large power brick” that many laptops still use which is a plus. The laptop can also be charged through USB-C. The two USB-C ports support Power Delivery (PD). After spending a few hours with the ASUS Zenbook S 16, I can confidently say this laptop impressed me in many ways. ASUS managed to make this laptop feel ultra-thin while still being highly practical for everyday productivity, entertainment, and even creative work without major compromises. It is incredibly thin and light, and the Antrim Gray finish gives it a very premium look. The build quality feels solid. I/O ports are: 2 × USB-C ports that support Power Delivery (PD), display output support as well as high-speed data transfer, 1 × USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, 1 × HDMI 2.1 port, 1 × 3.5mm audio combo jack and surprisingly 1 × full size microSD card reader. The real star of the show is the 3K OLED display. The moment I looked at the screen; it became clear just how stunning it is. Colors are vibrant, and the 120Hz refresh rate makes everything feel smooth and responsive. Whether I was watching movies, browsing the web, reading documents, or multitasking, the display was super responsive. The touchscreen capability is another great addition that makes browsing and productivity even more convenient. ASUS has equipped this laptop with premium features. Dolby Vision on this OLED screen provides a cinematic experience, sharp details, vibrant colors, and immersive experience that enhanced the streaming content. Not only for videos, but also Dolby Atmos audio transforms the audio into immersive sound quality and enhances movies, music, and entertainment overall. Hardware-wise, the Ryzen AI 400 series processor combined with 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a 1TB SSD was able to handle everyday workload. Multitasking felt incredibly fast and smooth, applications opened quickly, and the system continued to be responsive even with many tabs and programs running simultaneously. The integrated Radeon graphics deliver great performance for casual gaming and creativity work. The laptops are powered by Wi-Fi 7 and BT 5.4, and both provide me with reliable and stable connections. Another great feature is the Copilot+ PC capability, which allows the laptop to handle local AI-related tasks efficiently while improving overall performance and battery optimization. I especially noticed that the battery life lasted much longer than I initially expected even after long use. In addition, the laptop is equipped with Windows Hello face login that is very responsive and helpful for quick and secure sign in. The keyboard and touchpad are also well designed. Typing feels comfortable, quiet, and premium without being overly loud or noisy, even during long typing sessions. The large touchpad is responsive. That said, one drawback is that under heavy workloads or updates, the fans tend to be noticeably loud, and the heat dissipation from the base can cause uncomfortable feeling when the laptop is sitting on the lap. ASUS also included several exclusive apps that are genuinely useful. MyASUS acts as a central hub for driver and BIOS updates, battery health monitoring, running diagnostics, performance optimization, and OLED care settings. GlideX gives the ability to connect the laptop seamlessly with phones, tablets, or other computers as secondary displays. Overall, my experience with this laptop has been extremely impressive.

It has been a real pleasure becoming familiar with the ASUS Zenbook S16. It's a beautiful and well equipped design with great performance, and the 2880x1800 16" 3K OLED display produces rich, vibrant colors with deep contrast and without the viewing angle limitations of other display types. Unboxing was easy, the laptop is securely and safely packaged for shipping, and setup for Windows 11 Home ran smoothly. The preinstalled MyASUS utility is a very useful and easy to use diagnostic, maintenance and support tool that reports useful system information, checks and updates BIOS and ASUS drivers, and quite a bit more. It was nice to find that this laptop was shipped with the latest BIOS and drivers. The specific laptop model is UM5606GA-ZB/S16_90 and includes an AMD Ryzen AI 9 465 processor with integrated Radeon 880M graphics and a 50 TOPS NPU, 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM at 8533 MHz, and a 1TB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD. Wireless connectivity includes Bluetooth 5.4 and WiFi 7. The laptop has a useful set of external ports including two 40 gb/s USB-C 4 ports, a USB-A 3.2 port, an HDMI 2.1 port, a microphone/headphone combo audio jack and a media card slot. It's convenient to have all these physical connectivity options available without a docking station. The laptop has a large, comfortable back-lit keyboard that feels very solid with no flex. The front-facing camera has a built-in microphone and supports 1080p video resolution. The precision touchpad is large and easy to use, and the lower left and right corners have buttons underneath and can be pressed to emulate left and right mouse buttons. ASUS did an amazing job with the Zenbook S16 physical design, it's beautiful and expensive looking. The Antrim gray color goes perfectly with the dark gray keycaps and thin black bezel around the display, and their Ceraluminum material is strong and durable with a smooth matte finish that feels cool and metallic. The laptop is thin and light, and in spite of its limited size and rich complement of physical ports and other internal components, it contains an 83Wh battery that will charge to 50% capacity in 30 minutes. PassMark performance tests were run after completing setup and system updates. CPU, memory and SSD performance scored in the 80th, 58th and 97th percentile respectively. 2D and 3D graphics scored in the 83rd and 42nd percentile, and the overall system score was in the 68th percentile. These scores are generally consistent with other laptops in this class as manufacturers make design decisions to balance performance against power, heat and battery life constraints. The PassMark tests stress CPU, GPU and memory performance, and the grill area above the keyboard got quite warm while they were running. The laptop stayed cool while performing all other activities, including continuous streaming through WiFi. The laptop easily hits my internet service performance limit of 500 Mb/s up and down through its WiFi 7 interface. Unlike Thunderbolt 4, USB-C 4 ports don't necessarily support full speed device operation for non-USB 4 devices. For example, a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 external SSD that is supposed to operate at 20 gb/s will do so connected to a Thunderbolt 4 port, but is allowed to fall back to 10 gb/s when connected to a USB 4 port. Use USB 4 external devices for maximum device performance through USB 4 ports. Battery life appears to be excellent. Starting at 100% charge, the battery dropped to 55% after streaming video through WiFi continuously for 4 hours and 10 minutes. I think that justifies the "all-day battery" marketing claim, as the laptop should support about 8 hours of continuous streaming, and run even longer for other less stressful workloads. The Zenbook S16 is equipped with a great sounding speaker system that produces a surprising amount of volume and low end response. Acoustic instruments sound like they should and it's easy to hear bass lines. The laptop comes with several bundled applications. I used MyASUS for system updates and status, but have not spent time with the other applications. Unlike other platforms I've seen with preinstalled bloatware that nags you with partner offers until you disable or uninstall it, there is none of that with the Zenbook S16. The bundled applications are unobtrusive and stay out of the way if you don't use them. The only very minor complaint I have is with keyboard backlighting. On the keys that have two symbols, a primary character and a smaller shift character in the upper left corner, the shift character is dimly lit compared to the primary character. I think this is a cosmetic issue because people generally know what the key functions are, and while dim and hard to see, the smaller shift character symbol is still visible. Overall I couldn't be more impressed with the Zenbook S16. It is a spectacular combination of appearance, performance and function, with ample connectivity options and a gorgeous 3K OLED screen. There are so many design trade offs and choices to be made, and ASUS did an incredible job specifying and creating this beautiful machine. It's going to be a delight to use in the coming years and I'm eagerly looking forward to it.

Having been a fan and owner of ASUS products for over two decades, I have been anticipating and excited for the release of their 2026 line of new products including this latest edition to the Zenbook S16. Their latest Zenbook model has a premium, ultraportable and durable design developed using military grade 810H standards and patented lightweight Ceraluminum, making it one of the most appealing large-screen Windows AI laptops for everyday productivity, media, and light creative work. One of the first things I noticed out of the box was how incredibly thin and lightweight this Zenbook is weighing a little over three pounds and is only about a half an inch thick when closed making it uber portable. The other stand out aesthetic feature I immediately noticed is the matte Antrim gray colorway that looks almost like granite but is smooth to the touch; I’ve never seen anything like it in another laptop making it standout next to other notebook laptops. The 16” 3K 120Hz ASUS Lumina OLED touchscreen display is absolutely stunning and produces a rich, crystal clear and responsive display. The camera on the screen works great for video chat/meetings as well as enabling the facial recognition feature used for security and unlocking the device. The ports located on the sides of the laptop include two USB-C 4 Thunderbolt ports which are also used for charging, one HDMI 2.1 port, 3.5mm audio jack for headphones, one USB-A port and a SD card reader. In real-world use, the AMD Ryzen AI 9 465 10-core processor, integrated Radeon graphics, 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM, 1 TB SSD, Bluetooth 5.4 and latest Wi-Fi 7 gives the Zenbook S16 more than enough power, connectivity and storage for multitasking, office work, video calls, web-heavy workflows, and moderate content creation. Although the Zenbook does not have a dedicated graphics card, the integrated Radeon graphics are notably stronger than previous models and older integrated solutions, so light gaming, photo editing, and casual GPU-accelerated work are all realistic. This also helps in the battery department which boasts a 83Wh battery you can charge without a large adapter to 50% in about 30 minutes that should last you hours. That being said, this is still a thin-and-light laptop, not a workstation or gaming machine. The chassis favors quiet operation and mobility over maximum sustained performance, so users with heavy rendering or serious gaming needs may want a more powerful computer with dedicated graphics. It sports a backlit keyboard and a smooth, enlarged smart gesture trackpad with intuitive smart gestures you can use to control video playback, screen brightness, volume, etc. Along the top of the keyboard are six super-linear speakers that deliver loud, clear sound using the built-in smart amplifier, ASUS Audio Booster and Dolby Atmos technology. Perhaps the most useful software feature of this Zenbook is Microsoft Copilot + AI which can assist users in everyday functions but does take some getting used to and discovering all the things that AI can do like researching topics, drafting reports and helping you organize everyday tasks. It also comes preloaded with some useful ASUS software as well including StoryCube which is an AI driven platform you can use to import, organize, edit and create photos, videos, audio, etc. across multiple platforms and is fun to delve into for creators. Overall, the ASUS Zenbook S16 is a polished, premium and super portable laptop that gets the fundamentals right with a stunning touchscreen display, strong all-day performance, and a design that nails exactly what it was intended for. However, as a gamer myself, it does compromise high quality gaming performance for a slim chassis but would be perfect for a non-gamer looking for a quality, well-built laptop.

This Asus Zenbook is a very well-crafted laptop, and despite being a 16-inch device, it is extremely lightweight. This specific model comes in the Antrim Gray color with a stunning 3K 120Hz OLED touchscreen display. The gray finish looks premium, and ASUS even includes a material card showing the inspiration behind the design. It features an AMD Ryzen AI 9 processor, AMD graphics, 32GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage. As for ports, it includes 2 USB-C ports, 1 USB-A port, HDMI 2.1, an SD card slot, and a headphone jack. The laptop charges through USB-C, so while charging, you are left with two ports available. For connectivity, it supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth. The setup process is extremely easy. Since it comes with Windows 11, all you need is a Microsoft account. The setup itself is quick and simple unless you are restoring from a backup, which naturally adds extra time. Performance on this laptop is excellent. Programs load almost instantly, and multitasking is smooth with no lag or slowdowns. It is whisper quiet and impressively lightweight. The touchpad is large, smooth, responsive, and supports multi-gesture controls very well. Typing on the keyboard feels great too, the keys are soft, quiet, and provide good feedback. The keyboard also has a comfortable travel distance and includes backlighting, making it easy to use day or night. The OLED display is absolutely stunning, with vivid and vibrant colors. The touchscreen is very responsive, although I personally avoid using it too often to keep fingerprints off the glossy screen. The display supports refresh rates up to 120Hz, which makes everything feel smoother. While this is not necessarily a gaming laptop, it is still capable of gaming. I was able to run COD BO7 on it, although only at the lowest graphics settings. At 120 field of view the image looked somewhat pixelated, but it actually looked better around 90 FOV. Even though the graphics were not visually impressive, the game was still playable. What surprised me the most was how quickly the shaders loaded compared to the game itself, which took about 1 minute and 20 seconds to start. Cloud gaming also ran effortlessly. It is also worth mentioning that this laptop appears to include a complimentary Xbox Game Pass subscription with purchase. I am not entirely sure whether it is for a few months or a full year because I could not claim the offer due to already having Game Pass Ultimate. It seems to be intended for new members only. When it comes to sound quality, the speakers perform very well. The audio is loud, clear, and well distributed, and I could even hear sound projection coming from the bottom of the laptop. It also includes a front-facing 1080p camera which, while not outstanding, is perfectly good for video conferencing and Windows Hello. One feature I absolutely loved was the proximity sensing. The laptop automatically wakes the display when you get close to it and logs you in instantly using Windows Hello facial recognition. It worked flawlessly every single time. Just walk up to the laptop, look at the screen, and you are in. That feature felt incredibly convenient Battery life is rated for up to 23 hours. While I did not use it continuously for that long in a single day, the battery performance has been excellent. After about five days of regular use with standby in between, and no gaming, the battery was still around 65 percent. Overall, this is a beautiful, well-constructed laptop suitable for almost any type of user. It is fast, lightweight, quiet, and features a stunning display. Although it is not a dedicated gaming laptop, it is still capable of handling games if you do not mind lowering graphics settings. It is perfect for work, travel, or school because it handles workloads effortlessly, and if you use AI-related applications, this machine is clearly built with that in mind. Inside the box you get the Zenbook laptop, charger, and manuals.

This laptop is really impressing me since unboxing it last week. ASUS is really stepping up their game in the laptop space and it shows. From the inside to the antrim gray exterior this set up is a game changer. There are a few areas that have really impressed me so far, those being; physical build/looks, performance/specs and the touch screen. From the exterior standpoint this laptop is build sturdy. The build of laptops has been going one of 2 directions - cheap to cost save, or sturdy to withstand the elements. This laptops is sturdy and in a sleek atrim gray it is sure to catch your eye. There are several USB C ports as well as standard USBs native on this laptop which is more than enough for most. That said, I am very satisfied with the ports on this laptop. The keyboard is not clicky but very responsive and is spread out more than a typical keyboard (being at ths has a 16" screen) which give me more room to relax my hand and crunch away. From a performance and specs standpoint this laptop has more than enough to stand the test of time. 3k OLED, Ryzen processor, 32gb memory and a massive 1TB of storage are all more than enough to keep this a top player. Windows 11 is what you get with this laptop too, which is my favorite thus far in terms of operating systems. From a battery standpoint I have not noticed any short comings in this area.. so far to good. Weight-wise, this rig weighs in a at just shy of 3.5 lbs which is just insane that all that tech can fit into this compact setup. Lastly, the 3K OLED touchscreen is amazing. Very responsive, not overly sensitive either. This has been a life saver for me when using it on streaming apps or just wanting to quickly dig into a file. The screen on this laptop is beyond the best part of this laptop. If you do not know what the specifics of OLED are I would recommend digging into this technology, its mind blowing. All in all, if you are looking for a spec packed laptop with a top notch screen then this is the one for you!

The ASUS Zenbook S16 16" with 3K OLED touchscreen, AMD Ryzen AI 9 465, 32 GB, and 1 TB or storage is a phenomenal laptop option for personal, business or even artistic needs. This laptop looks, feels, and performs like a premium laptop. It's slim all metal aluminum cover is durable and looks amazing. It's also lightweight, so it's easy to transport. The screen is the most notable feature of this laptop. It beautiful 3K OLED touch screen looks amazing, and if your like me, you'll want to use it al the time. The touch screen works excellent as well. I let my daughter try it out because she love to draw digitally. She really enjoyed it, but told me it would be much better with a stylus. The keyboard is backlit and easy to use. Keypresses feel good. All the function buttons are easy to read and use. The touchpad is large and very responsive. You can also invert the default scroll direction, which is a huge plus in my book. The battery life in excellent with it's 83Wh battery, and it uses a 65 watt USB-C charger. It charges up to 50% in about 30 minutes. The speakers sound amazing considering the size of this laptop, and comes with Dolby Atmos and Smart Amp Technology. This laptop has an HDMI port, headphone jack, two USB-C 4 ports, one USB-A 3.2 port, and a memory card reader. Asus has also pre-installed MyASUS, which a an excellent program to keep the Zenbook up to date and running smoothly. The only downside to this gorgeous laptop is that there won't be much gaming on this. It can still play games, but not the AAA titles. Everything about this laptop looks and feels premium. I'm very happy with this laptop.

My son and I use this laptop for gaming and he also uses it for finding work…it does not disappoint!! So far we’ve played Fortnite, Phasmaphobia, Team Fortress 2, all of the Call of Duty’s and for me…old school Wolfenstein. Steam loads up super quick and we haven’t had any concerns at all with that application suite. The OLED screen is crystal clear, the 120hz refresh rate ensures everything runs smoothly and we haven’t experienced any clipping or performance issues, even after hours of use/play. Battery lasts between 8-10 hours a day, so nice!! It’s really nice, lightweight and compact which makes it super easy to travel with and use around the home. My son has been using copilot to help write applications/resumes & conduct interviews. The camera is amazing and on screen video is sharp which is nice since he needs to be presentable for employers (screen never goes fuzzy). Copilot AI is on par with the rest of AI suites and does what we need it to do with respects to looking for work. If you’re looking for a great laptop that does a lot of thing well, you won’t be disappointed with this!!

Great laptop. Works great so far. Fast, great display! Nice keyboard. Quiet. Stylish and thin and light for size. I had a few problems with Microsoft Windows setting this up, but I took it to Geeksquad and they helped me set it up with a few minutes. Great job Geeksquad people!

Overall this PC has an impressive display and a quick refresh rate that makes it enjoyable to stream on. It boats some fun features such as eye/facial tracking that allows you to maintain privacy when in a public space with the dimming abilities. Its battery capacity is subpar and lasted me about 6 hours total on a full charge during the setup process. This may pose a problem while in class and not having the opportunity between them to charge my it up. The main issues I have run into this far were during the setup. The PC becomes very hot, very fast due to the low fan output as to keep the volume to a minimum which unfortunately impacts its performance. The excess heat was caused by my downloading of multiple files (which is necessary with set up) which led it to glitch multiple times resulting in the screen turning off for multiple seconds at a time and the refresh rate dying. Additionally, due to the egregiously large mouse pad, controlling the right and left mouse clicks is difficult. You are forced to hold you fingers and the very far edge of either side for the click to properly execute. I am interested in seeing how this performs daily while using programs such as AutoCAD and SketchUP but I am currently not confident in its ability to run high performance applications based on what I have encountered thus far. Only time will tell.

Buying a premium laptop is always a bit of a gamble. You look at the spec sheets and marketing claims, but you never really know what you are getting until you actually live with it. After spending a week putting the Asus Zenbook S16 as my primary laptop. This laptop isn't just a collection of nice components on paper; it is an incredibly well-thought-out laptop that has genuinely surprised me in a few key areas. The first thing that struck me is the design and color. Asus went with an unique material approach on this generation. The color looks incredibly sophisticated, hitting that perfect sweet spot between modern minimalist and professional. But the real benefit here is the tactile experience. Most dark laptops on the market turn into a messy, grease-stained disaster within five minutes of handling them. This is not the case its an absolute fortress against fingerprints. Even after a week of picking it up, sliding it into my bag, and moving from room to room, the lid looks as clean and pristine as the moment I unboxed it. The physical build quality matches the aesthetics. There is a classic test among tech enthusiasts known as the "one-finger lid test." It sounds like a minor detail, but it speaks volumes about the engineering and weight distribution of a device. When I place this laptop on my desk and lift the screen with a single finger, the lid glides open smoothly without the bottom base lifting or sliding around. The hinge tuning is completely dialed in. The screen absolutely amazing. It is a stunning, punchy display that gets incredibly bright. The colors pop, the text is razor-sharp, and it makes everything from basic web browsing to streaming media an absolute joy to look at. However, with this nice screen glare does show up in certain lighting environments The laptop runs incredibly smooth. I haven't encountered a single stutter, lag spike, or hitch. Multitasking feels effortless, apps launch instantly, and the entire system possesses a snappy responsiveness that makes getting things done feel completely frictionless. When I first booted the machine up, the battery indicator was projecting a rather alarming 4 hours of total life. But I kept using it, and the system began to adapt. By day three and four, that number climbed up to a very comfortable 10 hours. By the end of the week, I was looking at an astonishing 10 to 12 hours of runtime on a single charge. I guess during those first 48 hours, a new laptop is working overtime in the background—downloading hidden Windows updates, indexing files, caching data, and learning your specific behavioral patterns. As the background tasks settled down, the power efficiency kicks in. The internal software is still calculating and optimizing. Ultimately, my first week with this Zenbook S16 has been an awesome. It stays clean, it opens effortlessly, it runs flawlessly, the screen is beautiful, and the battery actually gets better the more you use it.

So far this computer is great, the battery power is wonderful, I was studying in a local that did not have external outlets and I put in several hours without having to even think about a charge. Also, it’s very light, I have to be careful I don’t forget it’s in my bag, my books are heavier!

The smudge proof build and keys are no gimmick. It's nice not to see fingerprints prominently on display all the time in this rock solid build. It's VERY hard to match all the features in a compteting system and get it at this price. Even the Vivobook, which comes close in price. The added touchscreen, 3k OLED and amazing build sends competitors back to the drawing board. Go ahead and compare with others. They will come up short in memory, storage, build, display or touchscreen. If they match they will cost more or have a weaker battery. This has an all day battery that won't disappoint. It is NOT a gaming machine, but if you play less taxing games like Sims4 or Wreckfest, you won't be disappointed. It WILL hold its own with games like Cyberpunk 2077 but they are obviously designed for a desktop experience with unfettered power, not for an ultra thin efficiency tool like the Zenbook. A game like Cyberpunk 2077 hits 40-45 FPS in the in game performance test with most settings turned down. That's still impressive for a laptop that can do that well over an hour on battery alone. The cooling must have been updated or the chip just runs cooler than the old model because it's dead silent most of the time. If you're on the fence, no worries. The Zenbook will be waiting for you when you come back after researching everything else.

I’ve never owned an ASUS laptop before, nor a computer with an AMD processor, and I thought I would give this one a try since it came with the new Wi-Fi 7. I installed a Wi-Fi 7 router back in mid-2025 and have slowly been upgrading my digital devices to Wi-Fi 7. If you don’t want to read further, your take away is that I am very impressed with this ASUS Zenbook! It’s the best laptop I’ve ever owned. First, this laptop was shipped to me so well packed that it could’ve fallen off the delivery truck and still arrived undamaged. It was safeguarded in a retail box, which was fully suspended within a briefcase-style box, that was packed within a larger shipping box protected all around with brown packing paper! Probably, the only way you could damage it is by running a forklift fork right through the middle of the box. I was astonished that any company would pack its products so well. I immediately thought that a company that takes that much care in packing a product for shipping probably puts that much care, or more, into making the product. After unpacking, I used my desktop computer to go to the ASUS website and download the full 85-page user manual. The user manual recommended recharging the laptop for a full 3-hours before it is turned on. Which I did. During this time, I browsed through the user manual. I left it plugged in when I turned on, because I knew it was going to do a bunch of Windows and driver updates. By the way, it took me two days, using it off and on, to run the battery down to below 10%. It fully recharges in about three hours. The ASUS Zenbook connected easily to my home’s Wi-Fi. It quickly found my Wi-Fi 7 router and all I had to do was select it and provide the password. It has reliably reconnected each time I rebooted the laptop. Which was plenty while it was updating. No problems there. Since I have a Microsoft account, for the first time ever, I decided to let a new system mirror all my Microsoft settings. I think I will do that in the future because the installation process was seamless and painless. I love music and you need to know that this ASUS Zenbook has the finest speakers I’ve ever heard on a laptop. If you didn’t know that the music was coming from a laptop, you would think maybe I was playing the music through an external Bluetooth speaker. They are that good! Usually, laptop speakers are barely tolerable for voice and the laptop must always be connected to an external speaker for music. ASUS has definitely raised the bar for built-in laptop speakers! I hope other laptop manufacturers follow suit. I did connect to an external Bluetooth speaker to test the Bluetooth connection. The two devices paired perfectly with each other with no dropouts or delays or stuttering. The hour or so I was listening to music through a Bluetooth speaker was trouble-free. In addition to the audio port, one USB-A, two USB-C, and one HDMI port, I was happy to see that my ASUS Zenbook UM5606G 16” Laptop came with an SD card slot on the right side. That is a feature I thought was long gone because the last two laptops that I purchased only had USB-C connections which forced me to purchase external docks that offered a variety of popular ports. I hope this is the reversal of a bad trend. Did I mention that this laptop is thin? It is the thinnest laptop I’ve ever owned. I measured it and it is 7/16” of an inch thick. I didn’t weigh it, but it is light, very light. I remember using laptops in the early 1990s that were several inches thick and weighed about 13 pounds. You got real tired of lugging them around an airport. I don’t know if it is a combination of the camera and sensors along with the Windows 11 operating system, but this ASUS Zenbook has the ability to know when you walk up on it. I don’t mean the facial recognition login which doesn’t occur until you sit down and look at the screen. When you have walked away from the laptop, the screen will go dark, and the laptop will put itself in a standby mode. When you return and walk to within a few feet of the laptop, it will wake itself up and wait for you to sit down and look at the screen where the facial recognition software will log you in. This is a very fast computer boasting the latest generation CPU, the AMD Ryzen AI 9. It is also equipped with a 1 TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe 2280 Solid State Drive, the fastest style of SSD available. Together with the 32 GB of DDR5 RAM, makes this a very fast computer. I wish I had some way to test how fast it is, but the only metric I can give you is from the time I press the power button to the time it finished booting up and the facial recognition software has logged me in, is around 19 or 20 seconds! This is my first OLED display and once again I’m impressed with the vibrancy of colors and speed at which the graphics are displayed. I looked and found no dead pixels. The touchscreen display and its hinge seem to be well engineered because the screen doesn’t shake even with a light touch up near the top like when you’re using the ribbon menu in Microsoft Office products. The well-engineered hinge is stiff, yet not too stiff. I’m still able to open the clam shell lid easily. That’s an important point for me as I have a disability with my hands that affects my hand strength, touch sensation, fine motor control, and dexterity. Unfortunately, that brings up the one negative I have in this review but is not the kind of negative that would cost a star. Because this may only affect me and anyone who has hand strength issues. Thankfully a very small minority of the population. It will not affect someone with normal hands. I found that the touchpad was way too stiff for me to effectively issue a single or double click. I’ve used many other laptops whose touch pads are much easier to click and that’s why I mention it. It doesn’t have to be that stiff. This is only a critical factor for me when I use a laptop. Fortunately, the screen is a fine touchscreen and so I use it instead of the touchpad. Normally, I use an external mouse with a laptop, but this touchscreen is so good that I haven’t used an external mouse with my new ASUS Zenbook yet. The backlit keyboard is great when using the Zenbook in a lowlight environment. I absolutely love that feature because I frequently use a laptop while the wife and I are watching a movie. There are many other positive features that I could mention, but this review is already very long. To sum it up, I believe this is the finest laptop I have ever owned and I highly recommend it. I’m glad I finally gave ASUS and AMD a try. I am not disappointed.
