About This Item

The PROSPERO tag, known for it's beautifully equipped productions, presents here an exceptional recital of well-known and lesser-known songs by Richard Strauss, outstandingly interpreted by Daniel Behle, Opus-Klassik prize winner and 'Singer of the Year 2020', and Swiss pianist Oliver Schnyder. The program includes Gesänge des Orients Op. 77 and Krämerspiegel Op. 66, two rarely heard song cycles by the composer. The latter has a fascinating history the Bote & Bock had wanted to secure the rights to the next songs for the publication of Op. 56 by a clause, which Strauss resented so much that it almost came to trial. The composer took his revenge with the bizarre Krämerspiegel, a subtle musical attack on the institution of music publishing. The many allusions and numerous musical subtleties are vividly explained in the detailed booklet text by Richard Stokes, a noted Strauss expert. It is also interesting to note that the piano part in Krämerspiegel is one of the most demanding the composer ever created. Oliver Schnyder masters these hurdles with remarkable musical depth and stirring bravura. The production also contains a rarity in the form of the song InchDer SchmetterlingInch (InchThe ButterflyInch) on a text by Hermann Hesse, since it does not appear in any of the composer's catalogs of works. Even proven Strauss connoisseurs and specialists were unaware of it until now. Find out for yourself what this enchanting musical miniature is all about!

Deftones - Around the Fur - VINYL LP
    4.6(12)

Around the Fur the follow-up to Deftones' passionate, aggressive Adrenaline, sees the California quartet expanding on the sheer rage of their earlier work, adding new, more sinister shades to their already extreme sound. The opening InchMy Own Summer (Shove It),Inch serves as an introduction to the album's sonic theme sinewy guitars and eerie whispers alternate with fast, violent crunch. Sepultura's Max Cavallero contributes guitar and vocals to InchHeadup,Inch while InchMXInch finds singer Chino trading off vocal lines with Annalynn Cunningham, (wife of Deftones' drummer Abe) in an acerbic take on the rock star mentality. Vocal acrobat Moreno attacks a variety of styles his breathy, psychotic recitations sound downright industrial, while the album's calmer, more brooding moments show his gift for haunting melody. Behind him, guitarist Stephen Carpenter's heavy wall of sound is astoundingly muscular, yet inspiringly agile. When Deftones' hellish fury hits full tilt, as it always does on this album, Moreno's voice erupts into screams which are best described as otherworldly, transforming this intense musical firestorm into a hurtling juggernaut of aggression. This LP version comes pressed on 180 gram vinyl. Album Tracks 1. My Own Summer (Shove It) 2. Lhabia 3. Mascara 4. Around the Fur 5. Rickets 6. Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away) 7. Lotion 8.
