Starts with a great cast, Russell Crowe (Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind), Mark Wahlberg (The Fighter), Catherine Zeta-Jones (Chicago, Zorro), Jeffrey Wright (Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace), Kyle Chandler (Super 8, Friday Night Lights) and a great director Allen Hughes, of the Hughes Brothers, I think this is his first solo film. The story starts with Crowe the mayor hiring ex-cop down and out private I Wahlberg to see if his wife Zeta-Jones is having an affair, of course she is, and there's murder and a reelection and some more twists and turns.

The storyline shows how a one time cop gets caught up in one bad scene and he is thrown off the police force. Unknowing to him all of this was captured on film that was later used to bartered with him by the Mayor of the City of NYC to act in accordance with his plot to investigate his spouse for an ex-martiable affair while the mayor eliminates his opposition to his re-election plans. The mayor is corrupt and he tries to corrupt everyone around him until the truth catches up with him.

This is a corruption drama. A former cop turned private investigator (Mark Wahlberg plays) is hired by the Mayor of New York City (Russell Crowe) to investigate the mayor's cheating wife (Catherine Zeta-Jones). It's a story set about a mayoral race. The speed is expected, and there are some twists and turns. Not a bad film, after all, and it's worth watching once, especially if you like any of main characters that give a good performance.

Great action and drama in this movie and an overall fun experience to watch...I thought it was a bit different than the normal story and this kind of movie is what I enjoy. I don't like the same old plot redone and redone and I am also not a big fan of all the remakes being done now so when something new comes out, I make sure and see it! Maybe someday Hollywood will get some new ideas! This was a good movie though and worth renting for sure :)

Let me first state that I am a big Mark Whalberg fan, that being said this movie was kind of boring. You know from the beginning who the good and bad guys are but it takes forever to get anywhere. Not Marky Marks best.

This was an entertaining movie. I'm a fan of both actors, Russel Crowe and Mark Walberg. Not an edge of your seat movie but not predictable either. It's more of a redeemable film. Very good movie.

Found this movie at a reduced price on Blu-Ray. I couldn't pass it up, better than paying full price. One more to add to the collection of action flicks.

This was a pretty good flick showing how those in government power try to stifle & suppress the underprivileged but of course our heroes exposes them all and saves the people.

A cop is fired after shooting someone due to politics and becomes a private eye who is then hired by the mayor to investigate a situation. I liked this movie.

The movie is very good and the plot is fresh however the ending is predictable no matter which road you run down to get to it. Good acting and I do recommend it for purchase.

The story line is a bit hard to believe but with excellent actors in the main roles my attention was all theirs. Great movie, thanks to n the actors.

Fairly faced paced movie that kept my attention. Not too much violence or adult content so a good film for family with older children.

Mark Wahlberg in one of his earlier movies. He keeps the viewer guessing throughout the film. Interesting storyline.

Crowe and Wahlburg are safe bets. Their acting in this is good and story is quite interesting. Definitely worth a watch!

Good actors good movie... Mark always seems to make it work, so if you like Mark pick it up and add it to your collection.

Another good Wahlberg vehicle, movie was entertaining and the action was good, though not uplifting it's not a bummer either
