About this product
Includes a Digital Download card for the ten album tracks PLUS 7 additional unreleased tracks from the original recording sessions. Silver Vinyl, 140 gram. Possessing one of the most distinctive and recognizable voices on the planet, former Men at Work frontman Colin Hay faces down struggle, loss and the existential questions about mortality on NOW AND THE EVERMORE, his first collection of new material since the 2016 of FIERCE MERCY. Written and recorded in Hay's adopted hometown of Los Angeles and at Compass Sound Studio in Nashville, the collection is a defiantly joyful celebration of life and love, one that insists on finding silver linings and reasons to smile through the challenges of recent times. That's not to say the record deludes itself about the realities of our modern world, but rather that it consistently chooses to respond to pain with beauty and doubt with wonder. The music on the new album brims with fanciful melodies and rich orchestration. Hay's performances are likewise animated and full of life, drawing on vintage pop charm, pub rock muscle, and folk sincerity to forge a sound that's at once playful and profound, clever and compassionate, whimsical and earnest Album Tracks 1. Now and the Evermore 2. Love Is Everywhere 3. Into the Bright Lights 4. The Sea of Always 5. Starfish and Unicorns 6. A Man Without a Name 7. Undertow 8. All I See Is You 9. Agatha Bell 10. When Does the End Begin?

Punk rock pioneer with X, songwriter, poet, actor, solo artist, published author... folk musician. With Fables in a Foreign Land, the debut from The John Doe Folk Trio, his tales are now set in the pre-Industrial Era. And though many of the 13 songs were written over the last three years, the sound was born in loose weekly backyard jams on Kevin Smiths (Willie Nelson and Family) patio. I guess Fables in a Foreign Land is my version of folk music. It started by being sick of musicians that play too much and having to orchestrate or arrange songs. What if it was just less? Everyone says less is more, but you have to figure out for yourself what that means. I didn't do a deep dive into folk music and concern myself with what was traditional, it was just an outgrowth of trying to strip the songs down to the basics. Singles include contributions from outsider country polymath Terry Allen on Never Coming Back, Los Lobos Louie Perez on El Romance-O, and fellow X bandmate Exene Cervenka and Shirley Manson (Garbage) on Destroying Angels. Album Tracks 1. Missouri 2. Never Coming Back 3. Down South 4. The Cowboy and the Hot Air Balloon 5. After the Fall 6. See the Almighty 7. Guilty Bystander 8. Destroying Angels 9. Travelin' So Hard 10. There's a Black Horse 11. Where the Songbirds Live 12. El Romance-O

Limited Edition 180 Gram Vinyl - Over the course of a solo career that has spanned the decades since he made his musical mark on popular music as the front man of the multi platinum selling Men at Work, Colin Hay has never delivered a finer, more keenly honed solo set than GATHERING MERCURY. In response to fan demand, Compass is releasing a limited edition version of GATHERING MERCURY on 180 gram vinyl. This 2011 reveals Hay's emotional depth and musical diversity and earned Hay appearances on TV appearances on Craig Ferguson, Ellen and CNN as well as an ARIA award nomination in Australia. The songs are deeply affecting but never maudlin. Despite the serious subject matter, they're full of Hay's usual optimism with arrangements featuring his quizzical, instantly recognizable tenor vocals supported by acoustic instruments and melodic electric guitar accents. InchHay has been attracting new fans with gentle, ruminative acoustic songs.Inch -The New York Times. Album Tracks 1. Send Somebody 2. Family Man 3. Invisible 4. Dear Father 5. Gathering Mercury 6. Half a Million Angels 7. Far from Home 8. Where the Sky Is Blue 9. Simple Song 10. Goodnight Romeo [Instrumental]
