My granddaughter (age 6) brought her DVD over to watch on "girls night.." She's afraid of zombies and monsters, but loves this movie. I'll warn that a couple of parts seem bizarre, but it's not as scary as it seems. It deals with bravery; what you have versus what you want; and whether things or people are what they appear to be. Watching with other family members, the children squeal and call out to the characters as kids do. But they understand and talk together and with us about the dilemmas, always favoring the good side. I purchased two copies so I could keep one here.

Coraline is probably the best stop motion animated film I have ever seen, better than ParaNorman, Frankenweenie and even The Nightmare Before Christmas (Yeah, I went there) with a great story that is very dark, great visuals, terrific animation and pitch-perfect performances which isn't as fondly looked back on than it deserves. The PQ and AQ stand up and is totally worthy of this film with the PQ of the 2D and 3D being amazing and just.... Wow! I noticed no crosstalk or ghosting on my 3D TV, so its one of the best 3D Blu Ray pictures ever, with it being just a hair dark, but other than that, terrific. The audio is also a match for the PQ, so no problems hearing dialogue, music or sound f/x's here. The extras carries over most (Most.... losing the 3 P-in-p in movie tracks which are pretty good, and is worth keeping your previous release to just have the complete package) of the extras from the original Blu Ray, with the awesome commentary with Henry Selick and Bruno Coulais, 8-minutes of deleted scenes, a 35-minute making-of documentary and 2 featurettes rounding off this impressive, though not complete 3D/2D combo disc. The DVD included is supposed to be the original 1-disc DVD with just the commentary, but mine contains the second disc from the 2-disc DVD set which only has extras and the digital copy, but still nice to have. All in all, worth owning, but not above $20 for the 3D.

Laika's first major outing with one of the best stop-motion directors of all time. This move is so magical.

When I saw this in the "2nd run/cheap" theater, I couldn't believe how many parents took their very young children to see this PG-rated film. Many of these kids were crying because the scary stuff is REALLY scary (expected from writer Neil Gaiman), even for a guy in his 50's. Do parents not check ratings first? What makes it REALLY scary is that one doesn't expect the same creepiness from something like this as one would from the usual (R-rated) horror fest because the main character is a child and it's animated. But, it's there! Seeing it on home video is a whole different experience, though. One can watch it with the lights on, turn it off if the kids are too creeped out, or give it a parental preview before exposing the kids to it. Seeing it in a big dark room with strangers is way different. If you like scary and animated, this is for you. But, if you have small children, it's not for them. On the same note, the R-rated "Little Miss Sunshine" isn't for kids, either. Fortunately, the theater where I saw it refused to sell tickets to families with small children, citing that despite the title and what they may have seen in trailers, its subject matter is NOT suitable for kids. It seems that those parents didn't check its rating, either.

Coraline is a dark, creepy, and beautiful movie. I had the original blu-ray copy but when Shout Factory announced they were going to rerelease new versions of all the Laika films, I knew I had to upgrade. The picture and sound quality are what you would expect from a reputable company such as Shout Factory. There are a few new special features on this that are worth a watch. I highly reccomend this movie for kids and adults, but beware there may be some inappropriate images for younger viewers.

I was kind of skeptical of making this purchase since I have seen the same cover on Amazon and reviewers have stated it was region free and not the US version. This is the US version, plays great and has the 2D on the disc as well , there is also a bonus disc of special features. No digital copy, but that is ok since I already own the digital and the old 3D version with the 2 different colored lenses. This version uses the "real 3D" playback for 3D tvs. The 3D is really well done and very enjoyable!

Coraline is a stop motion film that put studio Laika (Paranorman, Boxtrolls, Kubo) on the map. This fantastical tale about a girl wishing for a better life is not only visually stunning, but masterful on so many levels. The animation is so smooth that you'll stop thinking it's stop motion quick enough. The acting is superb, and the story itself is one that you'll want to revisit over and over again. This is a dark modern day fairy tale that everyone should get to see.

This is one of those great storybook to movie translations. The acting is spot on and the animation is awesome. Stop motion has come a long way and Coraline just pushes the envelope a bit futher. The 2D and 3D blu-rays are both sharp with color rendering that is just simply stunning. I did not notice any artifacting even durng the dark scenes. I wish the 3D effect had more consistent depth, but otherwie it is effective. A great story that is captivating for both kids and adults.

I bought this movie mainly for my niece and nephews but I was completely blown away by not only how good of a movie it was, but also how amazing the 3D effects were. I use it to show off 3D to other adults and they're equally blown away. A fun movie for the whole family though there may be a few scenes that may be a little scary for younger kids. Highly recommended!

Stop-motion films have been getting rarer to see nowadays, but seeing this film again after so long brings back a lot of memories. A big recommendation to watch this film as it's rare to see films like this get restored to such a great quality.

If you liked Nightmare Before Christmas, you will more than like likely enjoy Coraline as well! This is not a musical and not met for very young children, so parents be mindful of those younger than 6. The stop motion animation is wonderful and the story really draws you in—it's based on the book by Neil Gaiman. The HD transfer is spot on and the 3D is very well done! Special features won't disappoint either.

Coraline is an enjoyable movie for children and adults. It is directed by the same person who directed A Nightmare Before Christmas and James and the Giant Peach. So if you liked those movies then you will most likely enjoy this one as well. It also uses the animation style as those movies, but looks cleaner thanks to it being newer, and looks gorgeous in Blu Ray.

In typical Gaiman fashion the world of whimsy meets everyday life. I bought this movie for my kids and u love it just as much as they do. We previously had this for regular DVD and it ended up getting scratched and skipped maniacally, when we borrowed it in Blu Ray from the library I realized I needed to buy this. Crisp details and awesome price.

Great price on this 3D collector's edition. I'm an addict for GOOD 3D not just some film that feels its need to be released in 3D because everything else is. For my $ animation tends to deliver the best 3D. They contain great depth and color. Animation doesn't adhere to what I call cole slaw editing---fast, choppy, difficult to discern what's actually happening. Coraline is a fun little bit of fantasy from the Nightmare before Christmas team that doesn't disappoint.

This is a must have for any stop action movie fan. The visual effects and background images are amazing. The plot is a little slow at first, but it's fun to watch once it gets going. This movie is great for all ages. If you enjoyed the Nightmare Before Christmas, then you'll definitely love this. You get the same great plot and amazing characters without the singing.
