Cosmen - Cosmen - VINYL LP

A few years ago Kranky received an anonymous email with a link to three tracks and a simple message Hi, maybe you would be interested in this music. The songs were instantly striking extraordinarily slow, somber, and spacious, each vaulted cathedral chord reverberating poetically into the distance, the melodies rolling out like fog across a cemetery. Captivated, Kranky requested more, receiving a single word in response Yes. Then, nothing. Eventually, three months later, another email with slightly more information was received a name (Irma Orm), a location (Stockholm), and a bit of context (she worked alone, and progress on music was slow but steady).Fast-forward to mid-2016 the album is complete Nektyr, by Demen, and it is breathtaking. Hermetic gothicswan songs conjured from funereal piano, twilit ambience, minimalist percussion, and spellbinding vocals. The mood is lulling and rich but lost in sorrow, stark grey structures looming in the night. Majestic open spaces between notes heighten the melancholic grandeur of Orm's arrangements, blurring the line between lament and lullaby. The songs don't end so much as ebb away, succumbing to their own downcast beauty.

Vinyl LP pressing. 2018 . Ulthar create something uniquely arcane within the Bay Area metal underground. The trio comes together on their debut full length Cosmovore to unleash a feral urgency for dizzying Absu like Black Metal with a Death Metal band's bludgeoning violence. Thematically heavy on weird, supernatural horror and a bizarre Rudimentary Peni surrealism, Ulthar are a difficult to classify spectral entity within the sphere of black metal. Over the course of Cosmovore's 40 minute run time speeds careen forward at primarily unrelenting velocity, the opening title track instantly battering with primal persistence. The album's middle section, a blinding storm of ghastly black dread, leads into the 13+ minute epic 'Dunwich Whore' where the Ulthar universe becomes all consuming with proggy synth bookends, vertiginous tempo variation, grinding technical violence, and thrashed madness. Yet another stellar debut album released under the 20 Buck Spin banner, Ulthar's Cosmovore stands as the monstrous opening salvo of a band only beginning to wage war. Album Tracks 1. Cosmovore 2. Solitarian 3. Infinite Cold Distance 4. Entropy / Atrophy 5. Asymmetric Warfare 6. Dunwich Whore

The Hellacopters' architect Nicke Andersson is back with a new band. Imperial State Electric delivers power pop, with emphasis on power, rock AND roll. Imperial State Electric could be the missing link between the Beatles and Alice Cooper, or the bridge connecting the Byrds with S*x Pistols, if you will. No visas required, the gates are wide open. Nicke bids you welcome to his electric empire!
