About This Item

Daevid Allen's mind-bending debut solo album Banana Moon-from the founder of Gong and The Soft Machine! Teaming up with drumming icons Robert Wyatt and Pip Pyle, bassist Archie Legget, and powerhouse vocalist Maggie Bell, Banana Moon erupts with a wild fusion of psychedelic rock and chaotic, rebellious Dadaism. This definitive remastered edition of the original 1971 album has been restored and mastered from the original tapes. Presented in a deluxe gatefold digi-sleeve with a matte laminate finish, it also includes a 16-page booklet featuring exclusive sleeve notes by Kevin Le Gendre. The eight songs on the record run from interludes of just under a minute to epic suites that exceed ten, making it clear that Daevid Allen, as his work with Gong suggested, gave full vent to his imagination whether he was writing songs with a quasi-Beatles pop appeal, or engaging in unrestrained sonic flights of fancy. With lyrical curveballs being thrown on every track, none more so than 'Fred The Fish And The Chip On His Shoulder', the music has a wry charm to match the performance skills of the band. This newly remastered Banana Moon revives Daevid Allen's fearless musical vision, pulsing with the raw energy and rebellious spirit that still captivates and shocks today. Album Tracks 1. Time of Your Life 2. Memories 3. All I Want Is Out of Here 4. Fred the Fish 5. White Neck Blues / Codein Coda 6. Stoned Innocent Frankenstein 7. And His Adventures in the Land of Flip 8. I Am a Bowl
