Ernie Hines - Electrified (ALL-ANALOG) (MAGENTA VINYL) - VINYL LP

The new recording from the Jazz at Berlin Philharmonic series captures a moment rich in both history and renewal, marking the series fiftieth concert while paying tribute to Siggi Lochs early triumph as a producer with George Gruntzs pioneering Jazz Meets Baroque in 1964. Six decades later, pianist Bernd Lhotzky revisits and reimagines this groundbreaking dialogue between eras, drawing a compelling parallel between Esperantos vision of universal communication and the shared expressive language of baroque music and jazz. The two traditions meet not as contrasts but as kindred forms jazz infuses baroque with rhythmic vitality and improvisational freedom, while baroque lends jazz it's structural depth and ornate richness. The stage opens up to reveal a German-French ensemble two wind players of French origin and the three members of a German rhythm section, all of them happy to be united through music. Album Tracks 1. Ever since Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth sampled Ernie's anthemic InchOur GenerationInch on their 1992 chart-topper InchStraighten It OutInch (and then John Legend and The Roots covered the song in 2010), 1972's Electrified has been one of the most collectible releases of it's era. InchOur GenerationInch is justly famous, a masterpiece of socially conscious '70s gospel-inflected soul, but the rest of the record isn't far from the high standard set by that song, with InchSugar Plum (Gimme Some)Inch InchYour Love (Is All I Need),Inch and the original version of The Temprees' InchExplain It to Her MamaInch the particular highlights. Exquisite production from the We Produce tag's Jo Bridges and Tom Nixon, too. We got a hold of the OG two-track master tape for this ALL-ANALOG pressing in black or magenta vinyl! Album Tracks 1. Electrified Love 2. Come on Y'all 3. Your Love Is All I Need 4. What Would I Do 5. Sugar Plum (Gimme Some) 6. A Better World (For Everyone) 7. A Change Is Gonna Come 8. Explain It to Her Mama 9.
