A: Hello DRG! The knobs on the cooktop FGGC3645QS are stainless steel. However, the finish on them is not dishwasher safe and we do not suggest soaking the knobs to clean them. A: A lid is not available
Q: Can I light the burners with a match in case of a power outage?
A: Absolutely, the gas will work regardless of whether you have power. But use a Bic lighter like you would use to light a charcoal grill, so that your hand is far enough away from the burner when it lights. And don't turn on the gas until you have the lighter in your other hand ready to go - you don't want a ton of gas already around your stove when you go to light the burner!

Great Cooktop So Far
This Frigidaire Gallery 36 inch gas cooktop looks great, has very solid cast iron grates, and we like the fact that it is a sealed burner unit with the knobs on the front face which are not accessible by spilled/overboiling food from the cooktop like our old unit (in which spillage ultimately burned out the electric starting unit). It installed easily (it fit in the same opening as our 20-yr old prior GE cooktop) and it lights quickly and works well so far (we've only been using it for a few weeks).

Easy to install, Great looking!
This stovetop was easy to install--even for a novice DIY'er. It looks great! Easy to clean. Love the level grates that enable me to move pans around the whole area with ease.

Good looking cooktop.
Beautiful, professional looking cooktop. Works great and cleans well. The knobs are angled downwards and not flat with the cooktop which I really like. The grills are more gray which gives it a nice contrast against the black.
