Product Overview The Google Nest Cam Indoor Wired Security Camera (Model GA01998-US) delivers exceptional performance as a comprehensive home security solution. After installing this camera in my garage, I'm thoroughly impressed with its capabilities and seamless integration with the Google ecosystem. Installation Experience Setup was remarkably straightforward and completed within minutes. The included wall mounting hardware and 10-foot power cable provided excellent flexibility for positioning. The integrated wall plate design eliminates the need for separate mounting brackets, streamlining the installation process significantly. Standout Features Impressive Wide-Angle Coverage The 135° diagonal field of view is a game-changer for garage monitoring. This expansive coverage captures the entire space effectively, eliminating blind spots that typically plague narrower-angle cameras. Whether monitoring vehicle entry, storage areas, or general activity, the comprehensive coverage provides complete situational awareness. Superior Human Detection Technology The on-device machine learning capabilities excel at distinguishing between humans and other motion triggers. This intelligent detection significantly reduces false alerts from pets, shadows, or environmental factors, ensuring notifications are meaningful and actionable. Design Excellence The sleek, compact design (3.88" height) integrates seamlessly into any environment without appearing intrusive. Compared to bulkier security cameras, the Nest Cam's refined aesthetic maintains visual appeal while delivering professional-grade functionality. Google Home Integration The camera operates flawlessly within the Google Home ecosystem. Live viewing, historical footage access, and notification management through the Google Home app provide intuitive control. The integration supports voice commands through Google Assistant devices, enhancing accessibility and convenience. Technical Performance Video Quality Resolution: 1080p at 30fps with HDR support Night Vision: Effective up to 15 feet with dual high-power infrared LEDs Digital Zoom: 6x digital zoom for detailed examination Live Streaming: 24/7 continuous viewing capability Connectivity & Security Network Support: Dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz/5GHz) Security: 128-bit AES encryption with TLS/SSL protection Authentication: Two-step verification available Storage Options Free Tier: 3 hours of event video history included Nest Aware: 30 days of event history ($6/month) Nest Aware Plus: 60 days of events plus 10 days of 24/7 recording ($12/month) Power and Reliability The wired power design ensures consistent operation without battery maintenance concerns. The 10-foot cable provides installation flexibility while maintaining reliable power delivery. Value Proposition At its current price point, this camera delivers exceptional value through premium features typically found in higher-end security systems. The combination of intelligent detection, superior video quality, and seamless ecosystem integration justifies the investment for serious home security applications. Minor Considerations Indoor-only design limits installation flexibility for outdoor applications Subscription required for extended video history beyond 3 hours Requires stable Wi-Fi connection for optimal performance Final Recommendation The Google Nest Cam Indoor Wired Security Camera represents an outstanding choice for comprehensive indoor monitoring. The superior wide-angle coverage, intelligent detection capabilities, and elegant design make it particularly effective for garage installations and similar applications requiring broad area surveillance. Highly recommended for users seeking reliable, feature-rich security monitoring with seamless smart home integration.

I was hesitant to buy one of these because the price is a little ridiculous in my opinion. I'm a long time Google lover and have it all pretty much but for one of these to hit $80 on sale when I can get something just as good for a quarter of the price? I guess it's a question of brand loyalty. I decided to pick it up because I had a couple other cams in our home and I finally upgraded our video doorbell to the real-deal Google video doorbell! Love it! I'm doing so I didn't realize that the Nest Aware subscription (cheapest tier only $6/month) covers unlimited cameras... As long as they're Google! Previously I was paying $5 to $6 per can for the cloud storage and yes you could say the cost is offset by the higher price Google branded product but, come on-it's Google. It's quality. When I buy Google I know what I'm getting. I'm getting tech that's going to last and years of updates issues they'll have my back on if they arrive. Google all the way. Highly recommend! Picture is stunning, mic picks up audio perfect. Wide range angle. I love it.

Works as expected. Great quality image and the sound is clear. Has a good range of view and it wasn’t hard to set up at all. I like the sleek design and how it blends with its surroundings.

This Device works like intended. All these 2 star reviews are people who probably don't use the Google home app and know about the cameras button that shows all Thier camera feeds in one space. Price wise this is so much better then the older indoor smart one that was about 200 dollars for it to recognize people and the such. Definitely buy if you want something more streamlined and nice looking. Added a photo for those who want to see what is meant by seeing all the feeds in once space.

I rececntly switched from Simplisafe to ADT self setup and got these google cameras to replace the abysmal Simplisafe cameras. The video quality is great, the recording is great, the app features are great, the design is great, everything is great, I really have no complaints. These cameras are my favourite out of all the others (Ring, Simplisafe, Arlo, old ADT, etc)

Easy to install. Just download the app, connect to your wifi and you are up and running. Picks up sounds great. Has a nice clear picture and wide field of view.

Really like this security camera. So much so that I've now purchased 3 for my home and 6 for work. The image is very high resolution with an amazingly wide field of view. The app works well on iPhone and iPad and the web browser version is ok but doesn't do quite as much (but still acceptable).

I bought a 2 pack of these cameras, setup was not as easy as advertised. When you setup a camera through the Google Home App, you can only setup cameras 1 at a time, this wouldn't be an issue most cases but for these, it was a nightmare for the first hour trying to set these up. After I setup the first camera it installed a firmware update, which is normal with a lot of smart home stuff. What I did not expect was that the firmware update would make it impossible for me to setup the second camera. No matter how I tried to set it up it would not complete the setup. The only way around this was to factory reset the first camera, setup the second camera, install the firmware update on the second camera, and then redo the setup on the first camera. After that I had no issues proceeding. The image quality is pretty decent and I have had zero major issues with them over the course of having them. Occasionally I'll encounter and error where a camera has gone offline and the only solution is to unplug the camera and plug it back in. Also they are great for keeping an eye on pets! Overall I am satisfied with my purchase.

Worked great to catch my husband cheat. Best 100$ spent... Just cover the light and turn off the night vision move.... he never saw it coming.

[Employee of bestbuy] This my 3rd Camera , I have a wireless one in my living room facing the Front Door, one in the hallway to see and talk to the dogs, and the 3rd one to put it up temporarily in the Guest room to watch my 98 years old dad .

Do not buy the “Google - Nest Cam (Wired) - Snow (Model:GA01998-US SKU:6473271)” if you have an existing Google nest cam installation. Googles new cameras are product orphans. Additionally the cam quality is inferior to your exiting nest cams. The ONLY way way you can stream the new Google cams is via the Google Home app to your cell phone. The other pieces of the Google Nest framework are NOT supported. This means the new nest cams cannot be streamed to any of the following Google applications: 1) Nest website (say you're at work or you have a PC with a larger screen and want to see more detail than you can on the small cell phone Google Home screen); 2) a Google Chromecast device on your TV set (including the recently released 4K Chromecast); and 3) the recently released Nest Hub 2nd Gen. I'm returning the Nest cam I purchased immediately. Google Product Management person in charge should be released for selling these vastly inferior cams. The only good thing about these cams was buying them from Best Buy due because of the ease that I can return them to Best Buy.

I purchased the open box version in Excellent condition. It came as advertised: only minimal damage to the box. Camera is in mint condition and came with all the accessories. Works just as well as my other Nest camera. It was great deal -- purachsed for a fraction of the price. Love Nest products--theyre reliable and high quality!

Easy to install and setup. I have camera inside looking outside at our pool. Nice picture from dawn to dusk on Google app. At night camera reflects off window.

Great camera. Easy to set up. Stable WiFi connection. Wire is long enough to reach the plug.
