A: As a tech nerd and a former gamer, I got a gaming laptop in 2020 which was released in 2018. Even thought I don’t play games much anymore, today in 2023 I use it for college and I have no issues or complains. The thing with gaming laptops is that they are build for high performance, which means they have high quality parts, which ultimately means that the computer is able to breeze through normal tasks. The one issue is the battery life, some gaming laptops tend to die pretty quick but if you can adjust your setting and don’t have a problem carrying your charger, then it is a no brainer.
A: Thank you for the question. The RAM is not soldered to the motherboard. The Victus 15-fb1013dx has two RAM slots. One is occupied with 8GB of RAM. You can upgrade the RAM, up to 32GB. There is one M.2 slot for the SSD and you can change it if you'd prefer more than 512GB storage. We always recommend that upgrades be performed by professional technicians.
Q: Can you upgrade the RAM on this laptop?
A: HP Victus 15-fb1013dx Gaming Laptop supports up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM1. You can upgrade your existing 8GB of DDR5 RAM (@ 4800MHz) to a higher capacity and speed, such as 16GB or 32GB of DDR5 RAM (@ 5600MHz). However, you may need to check the compatibility and availability of the RAM module. I hope this helps.
A: Thank you for the question. you can upgrade the RAM to 32GB. You can leave the 8GB stick in place and add 16GB to the other slot, or replace the original stick with 16GB, and add a 16GB stick to the other slot. You just want to make sure the speed and RAM type of both sticks is the same (DDR5, 4800 MHz).
A: I don't know if this will help but this is what I did with my laptop, I decided to get 2 sticks of 16GB Kingston FURY™ Beast DDR5 memory for a total of 32GB and I upgraded to a Pro Level - 1TB PCIe NVMe Gen-4.0 x4 3D TLC NAND Flash 1GB LPDDR4 DRAM Cache M.2 NGFF (2280) Solid State Drive - Kingston. If you had to ask me if it was worth it the upgrades? I would respond in a heart beat, YES! just make sure when you upgrade wait till the items are on sale, for the SSD and the 2 sticks of RAM I got it for $160 all together on sale as to regular price would have been over $200, you don't have to go with kingston but i did my research and this is what i thought it was good for me.
Q: how is this laptop with the sims 4??
A: Pretty good, my wife runs it at 60+ FPS with several mods with no real hiccups.
Q: What's the name of the ram stick that is currently in this laptop
A: Ddr5 4800mhz 8gb BY Samsung
Q: How many RAM slots does it have?
A: This Victus Gaming Laptop has 2 memory slots.

I got this laptop for light video editing but it turns out that the 4VRAM is more than capable of medium/advance editing with no problem, I'm using Wondershare Filmora 12 with no issues whatsoever, one of the fist thing to upgrade on this laptop is the 8GB of RAM for 16 or 32 cause the 8GB will be maxed out on no time, I went with 2 sticks of 16GB KINGSTON FURY 16GB for a total of 32GB of RAM, one thing that I wasn't aware was that there is single and dual channel sticks of memory and the oem 8GB stick that the laptop comes with is a SAMSUNG 8GB 1Rx16 so I believe that is a dual channel, I honestly don't play games on the laptop but I'm sure that this will do great with whatever is thrown at this wonderful laptop, I did ran the CINEBENCH and I'm really happy with the results and I only wish that I knew about the dual channel memory sticks and for that is too late, I wanted to perform more test for those that wanted to see how this laptop does on games but this review only lets me upload 6 photos so there is no point for me to make game test like I did with CINEBENCH, one thing for sure and be advised that this laptop runs hot so keep an eye on it by going to the omen hub and turn on the fan at full speed every once in a while, you can go to GeForce Experience and NVIDIA control panel when you download the apps from the OMEN gaming hub that comes pre installed, it will not give you all the availability of options that you can change like if you had the RTX3050 or higher but you can change a lot of settings, I can assure you that the AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS is plenty powerful and the RTX2050 is almost as good as the RTX3050 and with the DDR5 memory is a great combination, I got about 5-6 hours of battery when editing and the fan at full blast for 5 min at a time every once in a while when I thought that it was necessary, when the laptop is not using the fan at full blast is so quiet but when it is at full blast it sounds like a jet fighter is ready to take off but don't get me wrong cause is not that loud it just sounds cool at least for me, I wish that I could give a bit more feedback on the performance when playing games but I will just be lying and hyping up this laptop and I don't want to give any misinformation.

Incredible gaming laptop for its price. It does exactly what's expected of a gaming laptop. For only 8 gigs of RAM it handles games nicely and I absolutely love the backlit keyboard. The noise on the fans are relatively quiet on average game settings. However the fans do get louder with more GPU intensive games at higher settings with a stable 80fps. Finally, there's no issues with CPU based games, with VSync enabled it keeps games fixed at 144fps making proper use of the 144Hz refresh rate. I play on a hard flat surface for the best cooling, but the exhausts appears to be facing flat down, so for optimal cooling I may require a lifted angle for better airflow.

I recently purchased the HP Victus 15.6" Gaming Laptop with the AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS processor, 8GB Memory, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050 graphics card, and a 512GB SSD, all encased in a sleek Mica Silver finish. After spending some quality time with this machine, I'm thrilled to share my experience. Firstly, the design is both stylish and practical. The Mica Silver color gives it a premium look, and the build quality feels solid, suitable for both gaming marathons and everyday use. The 15.6" screen size strikes a perfect balance between ample viewing space and portability. Performance-wise, the AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS processor coupled with 8GB of memory ensures smooth multitasking. As for gaming, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050 graphics card is a real game-changer. It handles most modern games with ease, offering crisp and vibrant visuals. The 512GB SSD provides quick boot times and ample storage for games and other media. Another notable feature is the cooling system. It efficiently manages heat, keeping the laptop's performance stable even during intense gaming sessions. The keyboard is comfortable for long gaming sessions, and the backlit keys are a nice touch for late-night gaming. The battery life is decent for a gaming laptop, though it's always better to stay plugged in for optimal performance. Connectivity options are ample, with enough ports for all my peripherals. In conclusion, the HP Victus 15.6" Gaming Laptop is a fantastic choice for gamers who seek a balance of performance, aesthetics, and value. It has exceeded my expectations and has become my go-to device for both gaming and daily tasks. For anyone in the market for a reliable, high-performing gaming laptop, I highly recommend considering the HP Victus.
