A: Maybe 30minutes. it is a small basket, so you will need to remove the ice as the baskets fills up.

A: I have mine running all day long. We shut it down when we go to bed and then power it back on the morning. I have not seen any changes in my electric bill so the answer to your question would be not a lot. No, it does not take a long time to make ice.
