"battery low" within one hour play. Same batteries replaced in Sony Walkman-work for several more hours.

I was actually looking for a Sony Walkman, but found out that those are not produced any longer. I purchased this product because it was the closest thing I could find. Price was very reasonable, as well. I have been very pleased with it. It is very easy to use, the sound quality is much better than I expected, and it is very portable. Definitely worth the price.

This CD player is easy to operate, compact in size and has good sound clarity for both voice and music. It is perfect for traveling overseas. I also like the FM radio feature which allows for easy station preset when walking. The price was reasonable and the color coordination is classy.

I listen to a lot of audio books and many of them are being released on MP3 discs instead of CDs. I looked everywhere for a portable CD player that would also take the MP3 discs, and this was the only one I could find. It's lightweight, easy to use and has decent sound quality. The only thing I don't like about it is that it requires ear phones or an adaptor to hook up to external speakers.

I wanted a good CD player for audio books. It's light weight, and easy to carry. Not too impressed with the headphones but that's a minor issue. Also like that it has an fm tuner and MP3 player.

I got this for my father, who hasn't managed the switch to mp3's or the services that manage them. He loves this player. It's well-sized, easy to use, gets FM radio, and produces good sound with his headphones. No complaints whatsoever from him.

I bought this to use in my car. I found that the player worked really well but is not really suited to be used to replace a built-in CD player in your car. It is very cumbersome to replace the CD unless you want to pull over to the side of the road. It was pretty good at keeping skipping to a minimum. I ended up returning the product as it did not meet my needs. I would recommend this but not for my purposes.

This isn't a review where you'll read the item can't compare with something that costs umpteen dollars more. When I read that I think "so why didn't you BUY the other item and pay more, instead of complain? This item is just what I wanted...it's a step up from the one that was $5 less...which I bought five years ago and still works! I screwed up the latch on the one I had and for a $20 item to last five years...it's fully depreciated in my eyes. My new CD+ Player Sounds good...plays my CDs, the two FM stations I listen to come across static free. I was able to program the presets. I'm satisfied with the headset. It does what I want it to do. The biggest complaint I see is people who can't play their full audio books stuff....which isn't the CD Player's fault. The people who make the Audiobooks want you to buy a more expensive proprietary player...maybe?

This CD player has multiple sound settings and options that don't usually come with a portable CD player. Even at higher volume levels the sound does not break up. It's fantastic. I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys good sound, a sturdy product and a fantastic price.

We have had several of this same model for my son's dad who hasn't gone digital yet. Well made, user friendly and great sound with good headphones. Just wish it was a bit more durable - we do drop it occasionally and it usually is fine but after 3 or 4 drops we need a replacement. Fair enough for the price!

I needed to replace an old Sony CD player. I chose this player that is lightweight, reasonably priced and also plays MP3 audiobooks. Had challenges on two fronts: At first batteries quickly identified as “low” and player operated better using DC current rather than batteries. Did cut off on its own. Not sure if CDs were problem... It is working better now.'

I bought the Insignia portable CD player to allow me to quickly listen to some music on cd’s when I don’t want to take the time to turn on the various audio equipment I have to accomplish the same task or bother others in the house with my music. It is easy to use, has the helpful feature of an anti-skip buffer and can be battery-operated. The sound is what I expected through the headphones (an approximately $150 set from Senneheiser), meaning it was good on most recordings. Turning the volume more than halfway on the CD player caused the expected audible distortion, mainly in the bass. Poor cd recordings sounded poorly as one would expect, too. Good cd recordings usually were ok unless you turned the volume up too far, as stated earlier. It is definitely worth the $20 price I paid for it. It has played every cd that I have tried without any problems. One complaint is that it is a “battery eater”, especially so with the anti-skip buffer enacted. But, if you read the accompanying information, it lets one know that bit of information. Again, for the price, I have no problems recommending it.

The Insignia portable CD player with FM tuner and MP3 playback let's you listen to your CD's when exercising, shopping or whatever you may be doing where you need portabllity. Great sound in a little package.

I am learning a new language and needed a cd player cause mine sucked. I have an Apple so no outside drive. I have been very pleased with this unit because of the price to performance ratio being high. It is very easy to use and has little noise to sound production. I would recommend.

Bought this for my husband so he could hear at a conference we went to. Lightweight, easy to use, great quality. Fm tuner worked perfect. He was able to hear the whole conference.

I still like to listen to CDs in a portable environment, but there are very few small format portable CD players still on the market. In the research I have done, this unit comes as close to meeting my requirements as any I could find. It has a hold switch to lock out accidental button pushes, it includes a line-out jack to feed other devices (such as my headphone amp) along with anti-skip memory, and it is small form factor. Aspects I would like to see improved include more recessed buttons, a true mechanical off switch to save the batteries during storage, better protection of the optics, a more robust hinge, and more complete battery consumption (when the unit stops due to "low battery" the batteries still have about half of their capacity). It would have also been nice to either provide a power supply or configure it to be driven by a high-output USB supply. Even though this review raises a number of complaints, I actually am reasonably happy with the unit, and in my opinion it appears to be the best-of-breed still available.

The Insignia portable CD player works very well for me. Has a good sound and easy to transport. Only drawback is it uses batteries up very fast, so if use it to travel, I need to take extra batteries.

I bought this for a 2016 RAV4 vehicle I purchased that did not have a CD player. Listened to books on CD while traveling out of state for hours at a time. Good sound quality and operation; no mechanical failures. Possible negative is going thru 2 AA batteries at intervals to power it.

This MP3 player does play MP3s. Plugged in to my car's aux jack (with and add-on cord) and with an external power source (with an add-on cord) I can listen to Mp3 books. However, there is background humming and popping. The headset that comes with the player is adequate. but without external power, the batteries are drained before one book is complete. Biggest complaint is that MP3 player does not remember where you left off in a chapter. So if you are in the middle of a 52 minute reading, say at minute 36, you have to listen to that first 36 minutes over to finish the chapter. I end up either sitting in my car waiting to finish or turning off the player when a chapter is reached, which could mean driving for 30 minutes without the book. Either choice is irritating.
